Os Guinness is the author or editor of more than thirty books, including Renaissance, The Global Public Square, A Free People's Suicide, Unspeakable, The Call, Time for Truth and The Case for Civility. A frequent speaker and prominent social critic, he has addressed audiences worldwide from the British House of Commons to the U.S. Congress to the St. Petersburg Parliament. He founded the Trinity Forum and served as senior fellow there for fifteen years.
Born in China to missionary parents, he is the great-great-great-grandson of Arthur Guinness, the Dublin brewer. After witnessing the climax of the Chinese revolution in 1949, he was expelled with many other foreigners in 1951 and returned to England where he was educated and served as a freelance reporter with the BBC. Since coming to the U.S. in 1984, he has been a guest scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Studies and a visiting fellow at the Brookings Institution. He was the lead drafter of the Williamsburg Charter, celebrating the First Amendment, and has also been senior fellow at the EastWest Institute in New York, where he drafted the Charter for Religious Freedom. He also co-authored the public school curriculum Living With Our Deepest Differences.
Guinness has had a lifelong passion to make sense of our extraordinary modern world and to stand between the worlds of scholarship and ordinary life, helping each to understand the other-particularly when advanced modern life touches on the profound issues of faith. He lives with his wife Jenny in McLean, Virginia, near Washington, D.C.

In my Maori culture, the first words spoken by the orator are, "Ti hei mauriora," "There is life." Our Marae, Ancestral building are three poles. The right pole is yes, and the left pole is no. The centre pole is consequence. When our people approach this building, we understand that these three poles seek to know the shape of the thinking observing them. When the Bible comes to Maori, a unified field of knowledge regarding the suppressed revelation of God in creation and how this is symbolized in our ancient culture. We are a people of the way, a way of thinking that produces intellectual certainty. We thank God for sending the Bible to us and for making Aotearoa NZ great.

Thanks Mr. Guinness, your talks in my opinion, are filled with our national differences in culture, principles, morals, individualism. Your wisdom makes me think more logically . Listening to you speak, many times I am adept in making the relevant connections biblically. How thoroughly insightful, to identify, the ultimate truth, in a myriad of cumulative, "ologies", "isims", ectera , clearly written already, in the Bible. It is without doubt, completely relevant to all of life.
I"m looking forward to hearing he and Ravi Zacharias both speak at the Wilberforce weekend in May.

Abortion, Murder, Pedophilia, ( heard they're professors proclaiming it is becoming more tolerate and has been put up for discussion at some Universities) Race Division, Depression, Corruption, Greed, Slothfulness, Gluttony and one big concern because it is next month is "Our Public Schools"....They are NOW starting Kindergartners with lectures on "Gay Marriage" starring Gay Mafia instructors, it gets worse a pamphlet
( have it in a file) for 3rd - 4th graders to began surveys on anal, vaginal, oral sex.....I don't want to get the wrong schools down however a few have begun showing pamphlets on "How to have anal sex" with instructions included.......The gender assignment has gotten so far out in Cali. when applying for an application there is four or five things you can choose. I may be wrong but pretty sure I can take someone in a back room and decipher for them if they have a girl weewee or a boy weiner......Sanity is now a four letter word.....If you ask a lefter. We do however need both wings to fly...Loving, forgiving yes, I've said it before....It's like a gigantic Elementary School begging their Mommy and Daddy to say "NO" and give boundaries....NO Hold Bars on these topics....smh....You said will the Church in America get warm again, I can assure you The Church is HOT in America......We need more Disciples, Shepherds, and those in office to Hold their Heads up.....I can see through that there is light at the end.....may not be as bright as I want but it'll do for now......

I suppose you would say of Islam that it is the faith of; or perhaps even of Atheism that this too is a faith. You do so because you equate faith and belief as do so many and the problem with that is that faith is key to salvation as described in scripture and so it is from scripture, we should gain an understanding of how to use the word.
Matthew 8:25 is a passage that speaks of faith.
It begins in a boat in a great storm;
Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”
When I read this, I see belief after all why did the wake Him was it to bail or man a sail to help in some way keep the boat? No, they are asking Him to save them they clearly think He is able to do that, and today we to an individual come to Him for exactly the same reason to be saved. Are we demonstrating faith?
Matthew continues;
And he saith unto them, why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
So, according to Yashua, and I think we have to trust He knows what faith really is; as deeply as his disciples believed even to the point of trusting Him, waking Him, asking Him, they showed little faith?
We also see that they didn’t know Him in the next verse as we read; So the men marveled, saying, “Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”
I want to say that as I understand faith a key element of it comes from personally knowing God.
When we look at Abraham the single aspect of his character pointed out in scripture is that he believed God, believed what God told him. It does not say he believed in God that is taken for granted. To believe the things God has said you must be talking to Him.
Every person of faith believes in God, but not every person that believes in God has faith.
If you’re one that doesn’t that’s a problem. For by grace are you saved through faith…
But the bigger problem is how do you know?
One way to be sure is that faith has always come to a person in the same way; A personal knowledge of and relationship with God. Check in scripture there are no exceptions. Look at the centurion of whom Yashua said not in all Israel have I seen such great faith….why? What does this man demonstrate in his words to Yashua? I know you have authority; I understand that to have authority you receive that from a higher place; I know you are the son of God and if you ask Him, He will give you what it is asked for.
He is demonstrating that he knows who Christ is.
If we truly know Him, He in turn knows us and we are His.
Do you know Him by believing? No.
You know Him by a personal encounter and that is what scripture says.
So, then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word.
Most often this is interpreted as the word we have in the bible.
That is because the translation of this text is simply crap.
The term being translated word is Rhema/ῥήματος. This is always and only a spoken word. This peace of scripture is literally saying we receive the gift of faith from God when we encounter Him.
If you are a believer but have never had a word from God, seek Him now until you do receive that word. Knowing this that it is His will that all be saved.
