So many auto makers are making their affordable entry’s less affordable as the years go on
You’re right and it’s tragic. Automakers are greedy and prefer to sell expensive cars with fat profit margins
I thought they said this tops out at $30k somewhere else. If that includes awd Idk how this isn’t considered affordable. Cars aren’t going to be $15-20k anymore. In 2014 I bought a Focus for $22k, with inflation this would be inline with that. This most certainly is affordable.
@@Michael-ur5qb you’re right, it just hurts for people like me whose income hasn’t gone up correspondingly
I believe the Versa is still ok as Nissan still provides us with a manual transmission. I think this Kicks is upgrading itself to be SUV version of the Sentra
@@Michael-ur5qb Not when most paychecks are as they were in 2014.
Best looking Nissan in a long time. Wow!
Not just starter vehicles. They are good for people that think, $500.00, $600.00, and $700.00 a month payments are nuts.
Liked it! ...but lost me at the touch controls in center console, also too much gloss black, fingerprint and dust magnets
Awesome, will sell like hotcakes
Great comparison video in real time. Thanks, Andre!
Thank you for watching!
This could be a hint to the refresh on the frontier, as far as front style or all around.
Andre the giant, shows why rear legroom is so important
Very cool comparison dude.
Well done! 😎🤜🤛
The ONLY thing the old Kicks had going for it was the low price. Now that's gone and there are better choices at a higher price point.
No there isn't
You’re so right Nodak. As Sofyan from Redline Reviews predicts, the top trim SR AWD Kicks shown in the video will likely be priced at 30k. I’d much rather buy the more reliable, more powerful, and more luxurious 2024 Mazda CX-5 Select AWD for the same 30k. No CVT either
@@sachinnair91 I suppose that makes sense for a few, but how many cross shop fully loaded versus base model?
If someone is considering the SR they want all the stuff, a loaded CX-5 is at least $38K. If one is cool with base models, The base Kicks will likely be some thousands under 30K.
@@TheHardcard The base CX-5 still has leather seats, heated front seats, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, standard AWD, standard remote start, big touchscreen, nice alloy wheels etc.
@@sachinnair91 Nice, but still not the $8K higher loaded spec.
God bless competition. Prices are too high now, more competition is always welcome
Greatest looking Kicks crossover ever for its 2nd Generation.🙌🏻🙌🏻💯💯
Hi ! nice vid! wonder if u are confy inside on the driver spot? head-legs confy enough? ty keep it
I like the metallic grey with the red roof in the SR model.
Car manufacturers are so afraid to put physical buttons for climate...so much easier when driving to reach over and turn the knob than trying to make sure you tap on the right spot (try that without looking)...
They're not afraid, they're just cost-cutting
@@yissibiiytebingo!
Roman you’re SO CHEAP! sending Andre to the NY auto show without a cameraman!
I think it's interesting you looked at the Chevy booth, the current Kicks is definitely competing with the Trailblazer but it seems like the new model is more of a competitor to the Trax
This Kicks is perfectly designed. It’s not overstated outside but purely modern, and the inside is clean and premium looking. I really dig this. Good job Nissan. It’s also cool to think this is Nissan’s first step in their ARC strategy which would leapfrog the competition.
I mostly agree, but that red roof and mirror caps are absolutely overstated. Two tone is fine but that red is just too in your face. Would look great if it was a black instead.
@@hskrgradI actually agree. The red looks a bit too contrasted.
@@mrgurulittle7000 Yeah. I mean I get why they did it. Red is their company color and the contrast is attention grabbing which is what you want when you debut a refreshed vehicle at an auto show. Just don’t think they will sell many with that actual color combo. Little too in your face for most general consumers. The refresh does look nice though. Much better than the outgoing model.
@@hskrgradLike you said, black would’ve been better.
I really like this. Idk why people are complaining about price when outlets are saying it’ll top out at $30k. The Trax goes up to $28k without awd and people are saying that is affordable. Just stick to the FWD model. I hope this previews a small truck. Detuning the 3 cylinder from the Rogue would be a great upgrade engine for this and in a small urban truck.
Thanks for the very detailed review. Love the Kicks' new appearance but it needs 200hp+!
200+ hp version would be awesome.
I love the front grille and it looks roomy!
Kicks looks WAAAAYYY better than the Corolla Cross - inside and out. (Again, looks wise. The Cross is so boring, Lawd!) That Trailblazer's lookin' good, too (its doors didn't sound good closing at all, though).
AISIN VS JATCO
Now with the Kicks now offering AWD, the Rogue Sport (known as the Qashqai in Canada) has been sent out to pasture. Actually, Nissan ended production of the Rogue Sport two model years ago.
What is the transmission. If it has a CVT, then I don’t want it.
I'm driving a 9spd right now. I can assure you the cvt is better lmfao.
unfortunately, everyone using CVTs nowadays
About time Nissan brings out a good looking car.
Perfect size, power and AWD for normal daily needs.
Well we always know the price isn’t gonna go down on any new model of anything. Only up.
Added 15 - 20 HP and 200lbs with AWD. Still dangerously slow for merging. Engine will be stressed out in year 4 or 5.
You’re spot on and it’s actually an additional 400 pounds with AWD
Can you also show vehicles that can be flat towed for recreation and camping
All of them that have the black plastic cladding around the wheel well openings...I wish this was colored and just stamped steel (no separate colored pieces). When they offer AWD, that's what most dealers will stock making them more expensive for very little (if any) performance gain. I want a more reasonably priced vehicle and AWD is a big ticket item for these and of no real use to most buyers. FWD gives you the traction you need.
I was hoping Honda would have redeemed itself with it's subcompact SUV at the NYIAS overall its just adequate in this segment.
Debadge the kick lettering is the first modification and if it has a cvt then it's DOA
Majority of the competitors in this segment use CVTs, so not a big deal. If you don't want a CVT though, there are options in this segment that come with a torque converter automatic transmission or a DCT. Most people don't care what transmission they have, as long as it's an automatic.
There is NOTHING wrong with the CVT or lettering
The Toyota interior is so cheap
Are touch buttons really that much cheaper? I would like to know, cause most people prefer real buttons cause we are focusing on driving.
It looks great. Much better. It also looks more expensive. Can they just not keep doing that every time they redesign a vehicle? I remember when a refreshed model would come out and the price would be the same or even drop a few hundred dollars from the outgoing model. Now, every time they redesign, they jack the price up thousands.
You’re spot on! There’s a simple reason why and that’s the fact that carmakers are greedier than ever. Always testing the market to see how high a price the market can bear. I’m sure this Kicks SR AWD will be 30k including destination
@@sachinnair91 I wouldn't be the least but surprised, which is insane to me.
TFLnow
thanks for the tour👌🏻
the rav4 hybrid xle premium 2024 is quote same price to me as hrv base model/forester touring/cx30 GT and a corolla cross hybrid xse.
i am has tall has you.
the cx30 is really amazing to drive and is very confortable, also feel quality. however the rav4 check the box of more space, better confort also hybrid as a bonus despite the 6% interst vs 3.99% of the competitors it is a superior product. lastly the corolla cross is noisy and very tight compare to the rav4 and not spare tire is a let down to me.
Transmission?? Good video 👍🏽
It’s a crappy cvt in the kicks they just can’t seem to stop using them
I'm concerned about the added weight on the Honda/Nissan with only a 2.0L.
This new Kicks looks very fine. I hope this will be the new lenguaje design for all Nissan cars.
Nice looking car, but I need a little more rubber on my tires. The dirt road I live on would eat up those rims.
SR is the 'performance' version. Bigger wheels...

They all have cvt people and Nissan been doing cvt for a long time now in fact the first to mass production it with the mourano. I have seen Altima with over 300000 miles just change oil every 30000 on the cvt you good
Probably with at least one transmission replacement 😅
@@rickyl3934 let’s be real you think Nissan wouldn’t have a class action by now or mass recall Nissan don’t just I know people that will never buy a Toyota Nissan I world class just like Toyota there’s are the 4 largest car company for a reason
Nissan's A-game would just be offering a super reliable transmission. Does this have a super reliable transmission?
same old cvt
Yeah you guys need to floor that thing up the side of a mountain in Colorado and see if the cvt will hold up.
What is the MPG for the Kicks?
Nissan is like a few years behind Chevy Trax, Honda crv, ford escape all have similar features. But nice design nissan
I don't get the screens looking like removable tablets. Just makes it harder to clean.
I curious to know what this would look like crushed?
Not a fan of Nissan, but this one looks good, especially the interior.
iam rooting for the under dog Nissan
Where is the xterra?
i like the current kicks, but wish it came w/stick like the base versa does. the cvt's are crap
I wanna see it in black, it gives me taxi vibes this way
Looks just like every other crossover on the road.
What was it supposed to look like? I mean its much more interesting than the corolla cross or hrv?
Did they finally dump the dogshit CVT and give it a decent transmission? I'd love to believe they actually started caring about reliability finally.
They copied a bit the Huyndai front end of the Tuscon.
The kicks has a much nicer interior than the rest, especially the Toyota
The honda looks like an old ford escape or fusion from the front
Small Subcompact Crossover SUV B-Segment Korean Brand Hyundai Venue & Kia Soul
A 30K first car?... wow. My grandson, if I had one, will get a used hooptie
Should have checked out the class leading Subaru Crosstrek
Treated the Crosstrek like a stepchild; must have been a long walk to their display...
Subaru still does not work with TFL, so we do not cover it.
@@TFLnow Hmmm. Subaru had the best display of all at the Chicago show. So Tesla works with you?
@ 1:14 automatic wipers
interesting
Be nice with a 6MT option...
Where is our compact Nissan pickup? We want a compact Nissan pickup not another suv or cuv.
Well ya got the Frontier
The Kicks looks nice, but what about the transmission?
Transmission is fine people media hype over cvt and Nissan is so unfair I know people with Altima with over 300000 miles same transmission just change the oil every 30000 miles as recommended
@@Germancog Not hype for me, I know people who've had them fail as early as 60k, things like that give me trust issues.
CVT ?
Nissan Kicks Hyundai Venue Kia Soul Chevrolet Trailblazer VW T-Roc is B-Segment Crossover SUV
Last year was Toyota's year, this year could be Nissan's
If I was going to buy one I'd probably look at Price first. Then if the prices were around the same I'd probably go for the Nissan for the cargo. I forgot to look at the wheels on the Toyota, but I'm NOT a fan of those excuse for tires on any of the others. While I don't expect big offroad tires on a vehicle that small, can we at least have a tire and not a rubber band? Admittedly I'm probably being nit picky and you could probably change them out,but I'm getting tired of seeing rubber bands called tires being on EVERYTHING.
Nissan Kicks....Love it..... love NO 3 cyl. BS engine that isn't going to go 60K miles Turbo'd.....Love All Wheel Drive...not sure about the Xtronic transmission CVT?! I might be a buyer if price doesn't jump too much!
Xtronic 'is' a JATCO CVT...
Kicks and Trailblazer have looks down over the Cross
I hate when they call these vehicles “starter cars”! Not everyone can afford 40,000- 50,000 dollar cars!
The Nissan Kicks is way better looking, next is the Trailblazer and the ugliest is the Corolla Cross. I am excited to see the Kicks hit the dealership. I would definitely buy one but I will re-paint the red with black. I think grey and black is a good combination.
👏👏
Yea, great 1st vehicle for a college kid only $40k 😂
Dodge dealerships are offering new hornets for 24-27k
Really where? The Dodge dealership near me won’t budge.I know this because I was there recently.
A new Xtronic automatic transmission. Finally ditched that crappy Jatco transmission. Smart move.
There is NOTHING wrong with Jatco
There's an entire decade and a half of Nissans I would never buy used sadly because of that transmission.
Let’s hope the transmission is ok. Our Mitsubishi Outlander awc is pretty good. Yes it’s Nissan drive train and frame. No problems at 24000. I do all the service myself. Gets at or better than estimated mpg. Hyw 30 to 34 typical at 70.
Xtronic 'is' a JATCO CVT...
@@devildog5354 So they did the old rename GMO to Bioengineered food ingredient trick?
I’m rooting for Nissan, but just go ahead and bring back the Xterra already though!
Corolla Cross Hybrid is an amazing appliance. It drives very bland and has decent power. It's easy to drive and unoffensive. I stopped caring about having a cool car and the Yota is great for mindless motoring.
Back seats of compact crossovers not made for Russian bear (laughing)...
Any vehicle in 2024 that has MPG estimates in the 20s just doesn’t make sense, let alone in this segment of vehicle. It seems the Toyota is the only company that gets it…
I want this with a pick up bed.
Mini truck!
Better than a crosstrek?
No
Hyundai headlights on a Toyota Matrix with Nissan economy reliability.
I like that cars/trucks are getting the butch treatment up front, but it doesn't work for this tiny car.
Looks like a hit for Nissan, well done. Does it have a stupid CVT?
Looks like there isn't E-Power version
No e-Power news for this one yet.
ผมชอบมัน nissan kick
❤
Trail Blazer tooks that segment
This or CX-30?🤔
👍👍👍
Car rental companies are hype
Is Nissan still using CVT on this one? If so, I'm out by default... If they don't this thing looks good and for the price might be worth the shot but if that stupid CVT is still there... Is not going to be worth anything after a year.
For as cool as the new Kicks is you’ll never get people from Honda and Toyota.
For many/most this would probably be a first car...
I'm glad to see Nissan and Infiniti are getting there act together and bringing out some compelling designs!! I remember in the early 2000s they had some amazing products..
hate the name...short for 'kicks as..'?
Don’t buy a Toyota, the mirrors, vibrate and highway mode. Door panels are just very soft due to the lack of bracing the doors on the Rav4
Nissans issue is build quality
ummm there is no issue , troll
No issues. My Frontier is bullet proof.
@@HoofHearted2frontiers are bulletproof!!!! I got a 3rd gen and i love driving it!!!!
155 hp is just sad. Ik it’s enough for normal driving but still.
No one likes haptic controls, why did they do that????
Literally everyone: We HATE piano black! Please stop!!
Carmakers: We hate you right back, we will it to the outside too. Now f%^$ off!!
All that and a transmission that only lasts 30k miles! 😂
