You have my hair!! Thanks heavens. I’m 62 and have been battling since my 20’s. I’m getting bored with ppl who do not have thin hair on UA-cam telling me what to do. You’re awesome and beautiful Thankyou Karen 🇦🇺
I as well have hair like this. I've found that if I use hair spray, I like to spray a little in my hand, rub my hands together and then scrunch my hair. (Which is what I do with every product that I use in my hair.) When I spray hairspray onto my hair, it gets more of a crunchy texture. Which I hate. I really enjoy watching your videos. It's nice to know that I can relate to other ppl. Your story is exactly like mine. Except I had my thyroid partially killed off with radioactive iodine when I was 23. My hair has drastically changed since then. But thank you so much for these videos. -- btw, I don't wear makeup so I can do without the makeup part. BUT I don't mind watching them either!
I know you made this 2 years ago but, Girl!! I’m so glad I found you!! You have my hair!! I’m 58 my hair was thin high density and straighter than straight my whole life. Then menopause happened. And now my hair is thin low density and wavy. I was flat ironing it and now it’s damaged. Been letting it be natural. Have no idea how to maintain the curls. This was perfect for me thank you so much.
When I look for videos for styling thin wavy hair the people on the video never have THIN hair. I am so happy to finally find you because my hair is thin and it is so hard to find videos that relate to me. Love your casual way of presenting and you aren't too hung up on the sometimes strict rules that people want you to follow.
I am so glad I found you! My hair used to be so thick but age and med issues have made me lose so much - approximately what you said about 50-60%. VERY self conscious and struggle each time I wash my hair. I can't even tell you how many products, vitamins, serums I have tried! Very depressing adn I say I won't buy anything else and then I se a promising ad and I cave with so much hope only to be sad and disappointed again! It's a vicious cycle. Anyway, I have enjoyed the videos I have seen so far and looking forward to learning more from you! You are very personable and genuine. Thank you for being brave for all of us! Something I have found that works better for me since I started doing it - I have found that when I am going to used a spray product, if I spray it in my hand versus my hair, it seems feel like it's more even throughout. Edited to add - LOVE the bleeps! :)
My hair is similar to yours, but it has a bit more curl in it. It is very thin and fine. Instead of using a curl towel have you tried applying your products to wet hair, then wet plopping for 10 minutes in a shower cap. After you remove the shower cap, squeeze out the excess moisture with a thin t shirt. Then let your hair sit for 10 more minutes before you diffuse it. This allows your curl pattern to be maintained (your curl clumps are not broken up).
This is brilliant. I need to try this. Plopping is a struggle but I think I've done it wrong. I used to leave it there until it was totally dry, and then it was COMPLETELY flat. But plopping like you described, I haven't done that. It makes so much more sense. THANK YOU! Maybe I'll do a video on this.
I've battled with thin hair since puberty and most of the videos I've seen before finding you were for women without thin hair. Youre videos are so helpful. Ive had short hair for the last 6 years but now im growing it for my job but half of it is straight and half is wavey/curly and idk how to style it at all so I always go into work looking like a drowned rat lol my hair dryer came in today so I'm going to try your techniques and see if It works. Thank you so much for making content!
I will use a comb or brush after applying product to brush/comb up from scalp. And it helps to distribute product as well. UA-camr Gina Marie is where I saw this technique. My hair always looks good when I first diffuse but they never hold up. I hover diffuse until a cast has started then I use the cup.
just an fyi....you are not scary looking without makeup. You have beautiful skin and beautiful bone structure in your face. Please learn to feel good about yourself when your face is bare!
Thank you for the push, Anna. I needed to hear that. I want to be better about how I talk to/about myself, so thank you for setting me straight! Much love to you.
We all need to work on that Megan. I used to wear subtle and attractive makeup but since I am working from my house I did not see the point of putting makeup on. I felt really self conscious because I am super fair and have really dark circles around my eyes. I have been working on being ok with myself as well. Who made the rule that women need to wear makeup!?
@@annaburns5382 OMG SAME. Very dark circles. It's hereditary. But you're right... It should be perfectly fine for us NOT to have to plaster makeup on, if we don't feel like it.
That makeup application is so realistic lol... your hair is JUST like mine! I have lupus that mostly attacks my skin, hair, and joints. Believe me, I know how hard it is to lose hair.. and how hard it must have been to shoot these videos. I LOVE them!!! Please continue them!!! They are so helpful for people like me 💜
I love Mell, but I don't hover diffuse. I like the lift I get by cupping hair in the diffuser. Maybe she recommends raking for thin hair in order to break up the clumps. One thing I learned from Fit Kat Style is we gals with thinner hair must sacrifice some definition for the sake of volume. The side of your hair you like best is likely thicker plus it's the side you comb your bangs to thus adding to the thickness. At least that's the way it is for me.
That's where I'm a little torn. I did notice, like you said, that there was a little less "bounce," but then in other ways the curls were nicer. Maybe a combination of hover drying the roots, and then cupping the ends? I would totally be ok with sacrificing a little definition for volume. Anything to cover the scalp more! Thank you for the comment.
Great tips . My hair is similar to yours. I go to the gym a lot and sweat, so I feel there's no use for me drying and styling when I sweat so much...I just put it into a sad thin ponytail
I definitely watch for the hair help, but I didn't mind the make-up part at all! You do a great job. It's all trial and error (both hair and make-up). I'm too old to put the effort into applying full-face make up every day, lol! As for hair, I've also had good results covering the empty areas by massaging my scalp, usually not until everything is bone dry, though. I've also found that holding the scrunch for 5-10 seconds each time seems to help reinforce my curl pattern. If I could practice every day it might help, but I don't wash my hair that often! Happy New Year to you!
I have very thin hair like yours. My advice is to get your hair VERY wet, like soaking them spray and do the mouse. Raking helps to form the curl clumps. I think for you (and me) starting with a SOAKED HEAD is key!
You are very pretty and have beautiful skin too. I enjoyed the makeup part too. We are hair twins. I am using the Curlsmith line right now and my hair seems to like it. Their rejuvenating spray is really nice. I am using all the light weight creams and mouse. I just started using Olaplex to wash and conditioner. So far I like it. I am trying the color gels too. Thank you for making these videos, you are helping me and so many others. 💖
I’ve never had much luck with YT curly routines. Don’t let the photo fool you, my hair is very thin and fell almost immediately after the photo. I would seriously suggest trying damp styling and adding a little extra product (I know, I know) and scrunching the final product with a T-shirt. I get so much more definition and less scalp showing. ❤️
I don't mind watching you do your makeup, because it looks really nice, but if you do show that I wish you would list the products that you used. I am especially interested in your brows and liner.
I will definitely do that! Thank you for letting me know. I honestly just didn't know if people would be interested, but I will for sure share the products next time. Thank you.
Thank you! Definitely agree with this. But I might also try a lower "speed." I'm wondering if I'm breaking apart my curls because it's too intense. If that makes sense.
Megan, my hair type and density is very similar to yours. I have been trying to find out if TE (telogen effluvium) maybe the culprit? Do you feel it maybe for yours? Lastly, good to know that the Denam brush is not for us, almost bought one. Thank you again! :)
Wonderful results, but hover defusing not for me. I put my products on very wet hair and then I plop with aquis turban similar to yours for 15 minutes. If I hover defusing after that, my thin hair is very heavy from the water and wavy, so I will end up more wavy than curly when it get dry. I prefer diffuse by cuping to give a little boost to my curls. And for the frizzy ends from diffusing, smasters technique. A little bit of product for hold (gel or Mousse) with wet hands on damp hair and continue. Just more curls. Try it
Thank you for the these tips! I want to try plopping again -- I just can't get it right. But I might've done it for too long, and it gets REALLY flat. Maybe I should try it for 15 minutes or so, like you. It does give me nice curls, but the hair at the roots is way too flat. I'll try your technique. Thank you!!!
@@MeganGrantCurlyGirl You have to really shake your hair out after plopping - at least that's what works for me. Since our thinner hair tends to dry faster, try diffusing the flatter parts first. For me it's the top of my head. So I start there. If you let the flatter, less curly parts get a head start on drying without some lifting, they will remain flat.
I'm so tired of women thinking they look scary or bad without makeup on. Show off your natural beauty! It's okay to wear makeup but so many women wear makeup so much that they end up feeling ugly without it. How about us women normalize being confident without it. You're all beautiful with or without makeup and it's time we act like it!

I never liked the Denman brush it made my hair look stringy, but the new love of my life is the tangle teaser brush. I get more definition😍😍

@@debbieforseth254 I wonder why hovering works so well for us. You'd think it would kill the curls, but I THINK it's helping mine...
