After spending the last 2-ish years taking the occasional glance back into the sot community and it's news, I'm honestly amazed Rare has managed to stoop even lower than I remember them going. I mean, we all know that Rare employees aren't above snooping around outside of the boundaries of their game to look for reasons to get rid of people they don't like, but them abusing UA-cam's copyright system to silence content creators that they perceive as making them "look bad" is a whole new level of low for them.
Anyone can see Theb didn't do anything to warrant his channel being terminated, and Rare's willingness to be this blatant about their contempt for him that they're willing to file false copyright claims against him, it goes beyond Rare just being sticklers about their rules, but expressing genuine hatred towards Theb in particular because they know they can't do anything to keep him off their game. All of this, even when they willingly continue to harbor FAR worse actors than him within their game.
It's an absolute travesty and Rare should be ashamed of themselves. Makes me glad I jumped ship.

a hilarious thing to note about them banning theb at 9:57 is that they had been fighting that cheater I kid you not for nearly the ENTIRE stream (a over 2 hour stream). They kept coming back so Crud and Theb just used them as a content farm and even after Crud AND THEB read out and showed both their names over a dozen times, they get to keep cheating over Theb simply because at the time he was at the top of the SoT category with over 1k concurrent viewers.
I'm not one to advocate cheating at all, but at the same time I dont think being a public figure in a community and being toxic are a good pairing either

With "Rare" it doesn't matter if you do or don't, going against them is the best course of action if you want to actually play the game.

@@pebpebs4810 Theb encounters toxic players every 2 out of 3 sessions when he plays. Every video he makes are stream highlights from his most recent VOD. Of course finding modern proof of this is impossible, but it's how he made content on UA-cam.
By highlighting the toxic people, and making fun of them, is a service to this game. If viewers see these people who talk like that are embarrassing themselves, they won't mimic this toxic behavior.
As people do in an argument, they try and find things to pick apart. When I said "isn't even all that toxic," I was implying he isn't toxic, but isn't sunshine and rainbows either. The worst thing he does is casually swear, but that's part of Australian culture. Maybe if you consider the criticism he gives "Rare" as toxic you would be right, but that criticism comes from a love for this game. all he wants is for it to be better, by providing valid criticism.

Anyone asking about an update: YT channels are still gone. Counter claim attempt underway. Theb still will be streaming on twitch (not sot though) for now. Regardless of your opinions on the guy, the initial sot ban shouldnt have been permanent, and straight up copyright striking a channel into deletion insteas of atleast doing a cease and desist is the wrong way to go about things as a company, and sets an awful precedent.

Rare tends to abuse terms and conditions to unfairly label or ban someone, this isn't a new thing and has been occurring since 2019, watch 'SayByeLogic' or 'We are the BANNEDits' by ChokerChoby and MiddlePegLeg respectively for a detailed dive on a banwave in 2020. Breeze also details a variety of similar instances in other videos.
It's weird to think this domino effect happened because of a damn puppet, and some absolutely in their ass streamers.
and both those vids leave out loads of info and try to frame it one way and lead the audience. its laughable that kids fall for this stuff, like this is high school level media stuff guys.

They need to focus on the people who are actually ruining the game like the hundreds of cheaters instead of bullying their content creators. Without Theb, I wouldn't have even heard of the game
theb's situation perfectly encapsulates my unease at the zero tolerance, unforgiving nature of modern gaming moderation.
People shouldn't be made into a permanent pariah for making mistakes, especially when they're at a young age. Being a teenager is all about testing boundaries and rebelling, teenagers shouldn't be afraid to make mistakes as how else will they learn from them? If you're this heavy handed, no learning can occur in my opinion.
That being said, breaching the Insiders NDA was pretty stupid and petulant, rationalising it as "well they'll ban me anyway" runs counter to the assertion that you've changed and are not a liability anymore. By breaching NDA, you're just handing Rare a stick to beat you with.

Theb is the only reason I kept playing SOT after rare nerfed quick swapping. I spent so much time perfecting it and enjoying how the game felt just to have my views change the moment I realized it was officially gone. I took a few months break thinking I would permanently quit, but even after that horribly thought out change that ruined the gun play, theb kept playing so I kept playing. Fuck rare, #freetheb

He was doing them a service, and they didn't care. They're idiots, quite frankly. i joined this silly game about 2 and a half years ago. it was fun, different and it started my love for online gaming. i was the most noobiest noob and didnt know how to protect myself without just leaving the game outright. i kept going, brought my best friend along for the ride. and through her and this game, i met the love of my life (sad way i know lmao). he then introduced me to the silly site of twitch, and this silly pirate called theb and an absolute sweetheart called crud.
as of maybe say a year in, the game honestly started going to shit in my vision. the content was lacking, the game kept encouraging you to do near impossible achievements (shrouded what now?) and it felt like a drag to keep playing. the company has in all honesty gone to all trash and it fucking sucks. rare have turned into absolute fucking babies when it comes to the Australian community. i even remember them even saying OCE did not have many, if any at all cheaters? i was on a silly little 'list' as 'girl' and im in a video over reacting lol. instead of going after the cheaters, and those very videos and youtube accounts. they go for the man who in all honestly, single handedly made this game SO much more fun to play. i remember watching thebs video on how to quick switch and actually LEARNED how to do it (rip og quick switch)

Is it just me, or does Rare have such a hard on for shutting down Theb because every single upload is a showcase of their failure to curb cheaters and stabilize their game?
Why else would they have what appears to be a dedicated "ban this guy in particular" policy?
I'm so glad i caught that stream live, witnessing Rare ban our boi in the middle of spanking cheaters through skill alone was why I no longer care if this game lives or dies.
RARE, Crud and Theb are your best SOT advertising duo, no one else comes close to them. They go up against and beat cheaters, that we cannot beat. Please forgive Theb and let us enjoy watching them, together, again💯.

I'm not kidding, Cheaters will ban evade no matter what rare does. Toxic people and cheaters would just get banned again, and anyone who was seriously sorry for their actions won't do it again.
Of course this would require better stated rules, and better stated punishments. Mass reporting would also need to be fixed, but it's the best thing for the Sot community in the long run.
Short term may suck, but after a month things will become better.
Some cheaters would stop cheating, toxic people would look back and realize how embarrassing they were. Hopefully everyone would have fun again, together.

I'm boycotting the game, I hope others do the same. Nobody should give credit to a gaming company that abuses their position with false intention bans. A rare employee literally reposted the ban on youtube and took credit like it was some great accomplishment, while the hacker in the vid is still playing
You can and many can but it won't do anything, this is how every company/developer is now, a youtuber just killed himself recently because he was banned from Chivalry 2 for shining a light on the bugs and issues in the game his account got banned and terminated Soder Dave I probably spelled his name wrong. Companies don't care about the individual they care about the masses, and the masses are easy to please, look at all the horrible companies and horrible games that continue to make tons of profit, consumers are beyond unintelligent and beyond saving

I’ve been a silent theb watcher for a couple years. Watched about 5 mins of this video. Although Im not necessarily a fan and he does questionable/controversial things sometimes, Rare is completely out of line with their witch hunt. To try and squash someone’s means of livelihood because they don’t necessarily behave in your game is unethical and grounds for legal action. I could easily see this going to court if the facts and documented information hold true. It’s one thing to prevent someone from playing your game. It’s another to take a situation and transfer that to someone’s broader internet presence. I don’t think Rare understands exactly what they are getting themselves into here.
