Becca I'm currently recovering from ear surgery which is really scary for me! Your uploads have been helping me get through this and stay relaxed and calm while I rest. I really appreciate you and your content you share. Thanks for being a positive person in the plant community😊😊😊
Becca is killing it with the uploads. Did I mention how much I love this channel? I'm about to start my daily plant chores, and I LOVE having these videos on while I care for my plants.
Becca, hi! Can you make a video on a topic which plants to buy to "cut money" from them? I bought a big bush of string of hearts because it is not possible to find cuttings here. Now it is overgrown and I decided to cut it and to sell cuttings. And people buy it willingly! So I have an idea to buy more such plants (popular, fast-growing, with easy propagation) to sell cuttings and get money for new plants😀! What other such plants it may be? I also asked some other plant-youtubers this question, maybe someone see it and make a video, I'm very interested.
Hi Becca, at first I was not going to give you any "advice" regarding the sticky traps, until one was stuck to you cute sweater. I gave up all of my sticky traps and purchased a couple indoor, plug in DynaTraps. Best decision ever, and I don't have to look at a mass of dead bugs on yellow sticky pads. I will leave it at that!! :)
I found a 6 inch basket of Hoya Linearis at a local grocery store maybe two months ago. It was already of a foot long but It’s grown so much since then. It’s so happy. It’s made it into my top 5 houseplants.
The sticky trap sleeve reminds me of the time I was in public and I had a (clean, thank goodness) diaper stuck to me. My oldest likes to open all the velcro tabs and one got stuck to my butt. Literal diaper butt. In public.
I did an experiment and left a sticky mouse trap on the floor near the section of my house that most of plants chill in. OMG I forgot about it for months and checked to find it was covered in gnats. Best gnat fix ever!! And cheap as hell
Take away tubs and moss is my favourite thing too at the moment, things root so easily. Also LECA! As someone who tends to over water my plants, that stuff is a life saver.
the sticky trap on your sleeve caught me so off guard, i laughed so hard i almost spilled my tea all over my laptop omG 😂 girl you are seriously so funny, your videos never fail to make me smile❤️
I’m watching this at 6:30am and laughed so hard at the sticky strap! I think I woke up everyone in my house lol! Thanks for the good laugh and great video ❤️❤️❤️
The variegated Hoya obovata splash leaves are so beautiful 😍 Your patience has been rewarded. I hate dealing with sticky traps because they are just so stinking sticky 😜 but of course I still use them.
I got my linearis from Planterina too and it's growing like a weed! My fav hoya! And because of you my boyfriend bought me thhr plantfolio ❤️ I looooove it. It's so handy and convenient. Keeps everything organized and clean when repotting or watering. Love your recommendations. I just got your book to read through too 😊
I think it's really cool to see a plant person who is also -and especially - a dog person. I really identify with that! by the way, your dogs are absolutely beautiful and cute!
Haha funny sticky trap story: they also seem to attract my moms dog (he looks just like Cooper!!) and I’ve had to chop his hair off where it was stuck. TWICE 🤣🤣
Love your channel! I have learnt a great deal watching you. Seen you feed your babies kibbles. Kibbles have tons of additives and fillers which are bad for your dogs, please look in to raw feeding. There are brands out there selling raw food already prepared, all you have to do is dish up and give to your babies. Once you convert you’ll never look back.
The stick trap had me dying 😂😂😂. Also I own the obovata you have and it's an easy going plant one of my favorites for sure. Once it's well rooted and potted up I'm sure it's going to be one of your faves too
I watered plants a couple plants up on a shelf and had to reach over some lower plants before going to bed one night. Yep, woke up with a sticky trap stuck to the side of my shirt. I was so grossed out. It’s definitely a plant mama thing.
Hey!! Beck! There’s a sticky trap stuck to your sleeve. I absolutely Love love Adams variegated Obavota. I’ve been in love since the first time I ever saw it.,💚 So beautiful. Glad it’s finally rooted. 😀 Excited my linearis has a peduncle, you have a gorgeous plant there.
Don't breathe in the DE when you spray it and get some nepenthes to control gnats 😁 they don't get rid of them but keep on top of them also hoya are super easy to water or moss prop! (NZ spag moss is also sustainable unlike peat moss)
I was telling you "check your sleeve" that has happened to me so many times. lol still use them all the time. I want a pilea now, seen so many people that have all the pro's and con's. I might give it a try.
Hmm, I'm curious what you said about sphagnum moss being mined. I work in wetland/soil science and sphagnum moss grows on the surface of peat layers and grows back very quickly, whereas peat is old, chemically complex, and hard to restore. Could you maybe touch on what you mean by it being mined in another video? Super curious, thanks!!
I’ve definitely gotten sticky traps STUCK TO MY ARM! Lol... one time my mini Australian shepherd walked by a plant and got one stuck to his butt! Filled with bugs 😂😂

I don’t think I saw that unboxing and was thinking that you grew that plant from the three or four strands that you had 🤣. Also that pilea is adorable AND congrats it looks like your channel is growing super fast since you started on it full time. 🥳
Yes definitely!! I did not grow this from a tiny plant 😂 it was much shorter then but definitely pretty thick. Also thank you so much... definitely excited about growth!

Mosquito bits or hydrogen peroxide
^^ these work well!
Gnatrol WDG is the only way I know of to kill fungus gnats permanently that isn’t also disgusting or a huge hassle. Mosquito bits work. But they mold in the soil & it’s really gross. Sticky traps are a hassle, as we saw 😉 & IMO hydrogen peroxide isn’t a lasting fix. I got it on eBay. 2oz of the powder makes 8 gallons of water for treating the soil. Hope that helps

Just soak a chunk, about 1/3 to 1/2 of the the Dunk, in a gallon of water overnight. It is okay if it soaks several days. Use this "tea" to thoroughly drench the soil in place of a regular watering every 3-4 weeks. The Dunks can be reused many times. They last longer if removed from the container and allowed to dry out between uses. However, I usually just leave mine in the bottom of the plastic water jug so it ends up staying damp and crumbling apart sooner. You can also use "Mosquito Bits" to make the tea but it requires more work to either create a sachet or to strain out the Bits before use. I learned the hard way that the Bits will create fuzzy white mold in potting soil!
If you already have fungus gnats, use this "tea" as a soil drench once a week for a minimum of 8 weeks. Continue the treatment for at least 3-4 weeks after you no longer see adults flying around because there could still be eggs in the soil that haven't hatched.
