Regarding your comment this isn't exciting content, my brother that's why I'm here. There enough high energy content on UA-cam and I watch you to relax. It really helps lower the blood pressure. Keep doing your thing and we'll keep watching
If every hiker and wild camper picked up a couple of bits of rubbish on each trip there'd be none. I know we shouldn't have to but some folk don't know how to behave in the countryside. Bravo mate, good work. 👍
@RamblingOn have you removed some of your hiking videos? I thought you had one up on the knockmealdowns that i watched before. I was looking for inspiration for the weekend but could not find it.
You are rapidly becoming one of my favorite channels to watch. This is what so many of us enjoy watching. Post 10 is another favorite, he does things for the world around him as well. Not extremely exciting or anything - but you are both people who CARE, which is sadly rare in today's world. Keep doing what you do and don't worry about pleasing anyone.
It is a pleasure to see you take action in cleaning up the forest. You are a good man. The landscape is such a treat. So different from my home in Oregon, USA. Thank you for not putting on an annoying music track. I appreciate the sounds of nature. Looking forward to more of your travels. Be well.
Good on you for clearing the place up. And as someone who lives in the Baltic states it always makes chuckle when someone says the weather is 'Baltic'. It's Baltic here 365 days of the year! Keep up the good work, I really enjoy your videos and your love of the countryside.
The black and white sacks are from the forestry workers. We find piles of them in Scotland’s plantations full of tree guards and dead saplings. Great video 🤝
Fairplay to you for taking all that litter. The big white bags with black insides are left by Coillte tree planting contractors and most of the gallon to five gallon drums are dumped by tree felling contractors, having held bar and chain oil for chainsaws and tree harvesters.
Your enthusiasm for the places you go and the enjoyment you get from doing the simple things, like just finding out what is around the next corner, keeps your videos interesting mate. Glad to see your back's getting better. Just take it easy & don't overdo it. i think that it's bloody disgusting people dumping and leaving all their rubbish around. This is the reason why people lose their rambling rights on land. Thanks for taking us along on your walk - it looks a beautiful place you go.
Seeing you in your element Jason brings such a smile to my face...especially after all that you have endured with your back pain in recent months. Better still...seeing that big kid in you come out while tromping through the woods. Brings out my own inner kid. Nothing but joy for me coming from you - with thanks buddy!
Jeepers! Don't worry about the content not being exciting! For a lot of us, peace & serenity is so scarce these days. The scenery is absolutely beautiful! It actually reminds me of our Canadian west coast rain forest area! (which I am 3 provinces to the east of, lol) I am so jealous of all of that moss! And we get to listen to chap tell us all about his camping gear! We can even choose to have a conversation with you & laugh along. And bravo for cleaning up what you could! We do have some beautiful woodlands here, I've heard from a few peaople that it resembles Canada in some areas. I have the gloves sorted for the next time I go litter picking. Thank you for joining me on this one 🙌🍀
With the following you’ve built up, I wonder if you could set up a Camp and Clean weekend gathering. If I didn’t live half a world away I know I’d show up.
Plastic bottles in nature drive me nuts! I dont like so-called "fairy trees" either or decorating living trees with plastic baubles at Christmas and the excuse that it's nice for the kids is a load of crap. Get them to appreciate nature in its natural state and cultivate their imagination without brightly coloured plastic! Same with the orienteering marks if that's what they were. Make marks but use biodegradable materials or clear it away afterwards. Fair play to you for hauling it out. It's a good workout. It's like plogging I think, a combo of jogging and picking up rubbish. They do it in Sweden.
I've never heard of plogging but I've been back since to take what I had left behind. I spent 5 hours hauling all sorts of crap out of the woods that day and the way I saw it, it was exercise for me, fresh air and it made me feel really good to see it all removed. If it means that one little bird doesn't have to encounter it again then I'm happy out.
Just seeing the woods and the views and nature is enough for a lot of us. For me I will never be able to get out and about like this anymore due to having Copd so videos like yours and others keep me going so thank you
Here that stuff is called flagging tape, normally hi-vis orange. Originally for marking trees for cutting, now used by anyone that wants to mark a trail. If you don't want to navigate at least take the tape home with you when your done. Thanks for cleaning up the mess.
Fair play Jason. Since I started watching your videos, I go out with my 8 year old litter picking in our local park. Can't stand looking at it, it spoils it. That Lilt can had the old ring-pull top. They stopped making them in the late 80s!
I found a can like that in the Comeragh mountains a few months back, it's mad to think how long it has sat there. Fair play to you both for heading out litter picking 🙌
I'm watching your videos in backwards order or no order at all. 14:17 made me write this comment. I've commented before on some of the other videos. Oh yeah even being out there tidying up is time well spent, take a little stove or a flask for a cup of tea or coffee and give yourself a few minutes to appreciate it when you have the work done. It makes all the difference. I'm hoping to do more of this, I've loads of plans but it's just to get the time to do it all 😄
Wow well done Jason. I live on the North East coast of England and I to drag other peoples rubbish off the beach and it really boils my blood. I hate it when people say its down to a lack of education because it ain't its down to a lack of respect for the environment and laziness
Some ejits about hi leaving all that rubbish in the woods fair play fella for taking all that out with you these people leaving all the stuff need to learn the term leave no trace not there rubbish 👍 from up north
Jason, that was some interesting off track exploring👍Old harvested commercial forestry ground is really tricky as you say. That 'childlike' freedom in exploring is definitely a thing - like the big adventure and element of risk climbing trees when I was younger😊 Always cool to make a difference removing litter items♻ from outdoor places (including exhaust pipes😊) and to highlight the issue which might educate others👍
Cheers Gerry, I love exploring the woods like that but it can be a bit dodgy sometimes. I have your most recent video saved for later, looking forward to seeing it 🍀
Good for you! I have done This in Germany and what I did is take my ebike and Trailer and put all that trash on the Trailer,I have back issues too!thumbs up!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
If you take it you'll be happy with yourself if you leave it you'll be on a guilt trip saying to yourself I should of took it up to you 😏 good video yet again well done 👏
Good on you for being so environmentally aware and tidy . I am like that as well. I am wondering if when you have been out on a tidy up , have you found anything that you have kept . I once found a brand new bushcraft axe and a pair of walking poles which I still have after several years. I also once found what I thought was an abandoned tent . The nosey me had to have a look inside and found a dead man. The police thought he had died of a drugs overdose and died during the night . They suggested that I should see a counsellor to sort myself out and then I told them I worked for an undertaker and I went out collecting dead bodies. The officer was not a happy chappy after I told him that , lol . Cracking video Mate and keep up the great work.
😄 I hope I never come across that when I'm out and about but to be fair I handle dead bodies in work from time to time so it probably wouldn't bother me. I went back out for the stuff that I left behind and ended up cutting the groundsheet off the tent to use as a protective cover in my car. I hope to do a lot more tidying up in the future so it will come in handy. Other than that I haven't found anything that I ended up keeping
I've always thought the plastic on the trees were out there by people like the woodland trust, as a way of marking dead trees or something similar? I'm guessing but just assumed it was something like that. Or some kind of surveillance on growth or something? Not 100% sure mind but orienteering sounds about right. Shame they use plastic! Good to see you back out and about. Cheers
Well done! The amount of fly tipping Ive seen on Coilte land is unbelievable. Sometimes you would need a rruck to remove it. I usually carry a dry bag for rubbish. The amount of people who leave banana skins and orange peel at trig points is terrible. It takes years to disappear.
I do the same, I clip a dry bag onto the strap of my backpack for rubbish. Those banana skins and orange peels are terrible but discarded tissues are everywhere too. There's no end to it really
Fair play, thanks for the video and good to see you out and about. That is what woodland walking in Ireland is like, sinking up to your bits in bog and suddenly finding the patch of heather goes down 2ft when your stand on it....😂
Wow, thanks so much for doing that and exposing the issue. I live in a small town in co. Galway and work in the town's maintenance. It's a beautiful, huge park and part of my job is walking around picking rubbish. It's disgraceful. Sometimes people won't walk 3 feet (they are literally sitting 3 feet away from a bin) to the closest bin to throw their shit. It's education, or lack of it. Maybe they'll get some of the education they're not getting at home from youtube?Leave no trace should be taught everywhere, at home and at school too. Anyway, fairplay to you for doing that and also showing it. I'd love it if at least one of the people who left all that rubbish there sees this video
You see it everywhere, people just couldn't care less. It's a shame to see litter thrown around especially high up in the mountains where you'd only expect to find peaople who respect the outdoors
Excellent trek ....your braver than i am...i would definetly wear thick goretex gaiters... Shame about the litter...unfortunatly a world wide problem...very sad. Never forget the shock we got after visiting a small Scottish isle....the beach litter was horrendous😢. And watching your vid makes me feel shame at the times in life when ive not respected nature....young and foolish. Thankyou....oh....gloves...mate ya never know whats in that discarded litter...careful ! Cheers...good video.
I have been out since without gloves again but the whole time thought to myself "I really need gloves" 😄 I've bought some since so it might save me an injury. Thanks a mill 🍀
If you have a competition or orientation you mark the way with these little plastic bands. We have them A lot. You can have diffrent colours for f i 5km or 10 km.but you should take them down when its over. Hej så länge😊😊
Jason, I was wondering if some of this trash was being washed downstream from a garbage dump or population center. Although, I did see that a fair amount of the trash was being thrown away after camping or party in the woods. I thought that only American's, speaking about my own country men and women, could leave that amount of trash in the woods. It seems that all countries have this disrespect for our environment. It is sad to see but refreshing that some people are actually working to make things better.
Unfortunately no, this area is high up in the mountains so there's no landfill or agricultural land upstream. It's just carelessness and it is sad to see but I feel better after taking out what I could. There's a lot of people out there doing what they can to make a difference 🍀
That red tape definitely has nothing to do with orienteering as a route is never marked like that. The tape certainly looks like it's marking a route. Maybe it was for a trail race or something like that. I would hate to think scouts would leave them as I've been scouting for over 10 years & leave no trace is always adhered to. Massive well done for your clean up.
I did enjoy your little jaunt in the woods. Maybe the folks doing the orienteering thing will come back and clean up their plastic flags? Thanks for trying to keep your little corner of the universe cleaner.
Fair play Jason 👌 The rubbish is bad enough but the drums and the plastic bags (white outside/black inside) are forest waste. The bags are what they put the seedlings for planting in to and the drums are oil etc for chainsaws and other equipment. Those really piss me off as Coillte are supposed to be big LNT Ireland supporters yet they create so much crap it's unreal 😡 I don't think the plastic tags are for orienteering. Competitors don't usually follow a set course like that. I'd say it's more likely to be an adventure race of some sort. If it was me I'd try and find out who held it and shame them into clearing it up themselves. If they could be bothered to go out and mark the route then they should be able to clear them again! They've made a real horlicks of the ground too, it's a mess!
Actually the adventure race sounds more like it, it's very soft ground up there so it's not great. I reckon I'll be back there doing the job for them, I was trying to justify it in my head, think of the children... 😄 It still bothers me regardless
before i lived here 🏡 the people used the yard as a trash dump. in past years digging i found house trash bottles cans cable wires car parts.. down 5 feet? it is a drop in an ocean lol. if trash was worth money it would be clean 🏞 i find good things people throw out driving by.. yesterday a flatscreen tv 65 inch i repair ALL lol hvac appliances home & commercial.. but i cant do it anymore.. but i cant pass up? im like sanford & son 😂 other day found stuff.. in it was religious statues with white powder inside.. im not into that so out they went.
😄 it's great to have skills like that but I'd imagine you have gathered a lot over the years. I would have thrown out the white stuff too. good choice on that one and I hope the TV worked out
God I'll never understand why people just trash such beautiful land it's because of their actions that they shut down public land then everyone loses . Don't worry bud I do the same thing cause I want to keep using certain spots
Absolutely shocking the amount of rubbish you recovered from those woods. What is wrong with people? 😠 Well done you though, you certainly deserve those biscuits when you're out! 👍
That's a lot rubbish, well done, but you are little crazy. The markers in the trees, well they are there to lure would be campers along route, then once dark the campers are taken. Where do you think the owner of the abandoned tent went, hey. Keep out of them there woods. Have you not watched Deliverance, squeal piggy squeal !!! Scary. Great vid by way.
Regarding your comment this isn't exciting content, my brother that's why I'm here.

You’re a credit collecting all that crap others couldn’t be arsed bringing home. Good lad.
I THINK IT'S GREAT YOU CARE ENOUGH TO DO IT, AND SHAME ON THOSE WHO LEFT THE STUFF BEHIND.
You are a legend, Jason. Its a pity there are not more conscientious people like you in the world. It would be a better place.
Thanks a mill, I'll try to keep doing the little bit that I can 👍

In conifer plantations you find all manner of junk. It’s not just feckless campers, forestry workers can be careless. Well done.

A trail race definitely makes more sense and I reckon a scout group leader wouldn't need to mark a trail in that way.
Jason another great video , thanks , where is your seat / chair from, love that piece of equipment.
The chair is a crazy creek hex 2.0. It's a great little chair
I did enjoy your little jaunt in the woods. Maybe the folks doing the orienteering thing will come back and clean up their plastic flags? Thanks for trying to keep your little corner of the universe cleaner.
I'm not sure but I might do the job for them someday 😄
@@RamblingOn 🤣🤣🤣
I noticed some freshly cut branches near where those plastic ties were on that tree beside the stream . Did you notice that yourself at the time ?
I did notice some branches that were very clearly cut and not broken. I've been told the plastic ties are for orienteering or a scout group
@RamblingOn that explains that so 👍🏻
People are complete idiots!
You're a hero!
Fair play Jason 👌 The rubbish is bad enough but the drums and the plastic bags (white outside/black inside) are forest waste. The bags are what they put the seedlings for planting in to and the drums are oil etc for chainsaws and other equipment. Those really piss me off as Coillte are supposed to be big LNT Ireland supporters yet they create so much crap it's unreal 😡
I don't think the plastic tags are for orienteering.
😄 It still bothers me regardless
god it’s like a trash truck exploded passing through those wood last year.
Good to see you back out Jason.
People are just idiots.
Well done for picking all that 💩up.
Atb Graham
Thanks Graham, I've been back since and I'm happier now that it's not out there anymore. I hope all is well with you 🍀

Yeh Jason all good thanks.
No camping last couple of months it not stop raining !🌧️💧☔️ 🤦♂️🤣
@@grahamscothern4319 😄 same over here, the rain is never too far away
Great job, but watch your back. Don’t understand people that leave garbage like that. Some even seemed to be agricultural refuse from the foresters.
before i lived here 🏡 the people used the yard as a trash dump. in past years digging i found house trash bottles cans cable wires car parts.. down 5 feet? it is a drop in an ocean lol. if trash was worth money it would be clean 🏞 i find good things people throw out driving by.. yesterday a flatscreen tv 65 inch i repair ALL lol hvac appliances home & commercial.. but i cant do it anymore.. but i cant pass up? im like sanford & son 😂 other day found stuff.. in it was religious statues with white powder inside.. im not into that so out they went.
😄 it's great to have skills like that but I'd imagine you have gathered a lot over the years. I would have thrown out the white stuff too. good choice on that one and I hope the TV worked out
@@RamblingOn hurricane cleanup here in florida keeping me busy 🏡 tv sitting in my van no rush. i enjoy watching your vids
🕺🏞 📺👍
God I'll never understand why people just trash such beautiful land it's because of their actions that they shut down public land then everyone loses . Don't worry bud I do the same thing cause I want to keep using certain spots
Are you in the Slieve Blooms Jason?
Yeah this was up in the Slieve Blooms, I've been back since to pick up the bits I left behind
What was with the steam coming off that exhaust? 😅
I honestly have no idea 😄
Why the feck do people leave their crap in the countryside? Well done for clearing up.
Laziness I reckon
fair play ted..its a rubbish truck u need to have.
Cheers Ted
Absolutely shocking the amount of rubbish you recovered from those woods. What is wrong with people? 😠 Well done you though, you certainly deserve those biscuits when you're out! 👍
Subbed😊
Thanks for sticking with me 🍀
Wish they would teach ecology in schools along with more public service announcements…
We do in Sweden and one day a year all schools go out and pick up rubbish in nature. It's a fun day when businesses grill and serve food.
@ Also you have that hot bikini team to make people want to sunbathe…
All that rubbish! Well done, mate.
Thanks a mill🙌
That's a lot rubbish, well done, but you are little crazy. The markers in the trees, well they are there to lure would be campers along route, then once dark the campers are taken. Where do you think the owner of the abandoned tent went, hey. Keep out of them there woods. Have you not watched Deliverance, squeal piggy squeal !!! Scary. Great vid by way.
😄 being a little crazy isn't a bad thing 😉
Well done its just a shame you had to do it
Excellent video. It's a shame you are having to pick up other people's crap, but thankyou
Cheers Simon 🍀
