  • In this video we install an after-market high flow cold air intake on my 2016 Mercedes Benz AMG GTS from ZAC Motorsports out of Australia. I purchased a brand new uninstalled carbon fiber high flow air intake for my AMG GTS from a guy out of Florida on the Facebook automotive group "AMG GT Owners"

Edward and I did a comprehensive comedic how-to / do-it-yourself on the entire installation process of the ZAC Motorsports high flow cold air intake. We take you step-by-step on through the install.
We give you our first impressions on the product! Stay tuned to the end of the video to hear and see the sound and performance enhancements on my AMG GTS.

Hey guys, great vid, thankyou! Regarding the plumb back of the intake, a few points for you: 1) The air is actually very hot! So hot that on the C63 models (same but different to your GT), a customer did not completely remove his hoses, and pointed them upwards instead towards the hood, and you could see the heat/burn marks on the hood felt! 2) remember the throttle is closed. The air being released to prevent the air from trying to push back through the compressor wheel, this causes reverberations that shock load the bearings inside the turbo. On modern (MAP sensing) cars they are plumbed back purely for noise reduction (same reason why factory airboxes have damping chambers and are enclosed. Plumbing back into the intakes will not decrease lag at all. Why? Imagine this,, the spent air from the BOV is high pressure, but not huge volume, if you blocked both ends of the intake tube then you plumbed back the BOV into the intake, it would cause immeasurable pressure increase even with both ends of the intake tube blocked, since the volume of the intake tube is so large compared to the volume of the spent air. Now what connect the turbo to one end, leave the other end blocked, would it spin the compressor wheel at all? unlikely.. Now attach the compressor wheel to the exhaust turbine wheel, which has more influence over the RPM of the compressor wheel? The exhaust gases and turbine wheel? or the recirculating air from the BOV? NOW place a very free flowing filter to the other end, any pressure would sooner go straight out the filter, than try and spin up a compressor wheel that is attached to a turbine wheel. Hope that clears it up. And glad you are enjoying our intakes, remember we have plenty of other products, if you need anything please go to our website or social media and contact us! Keep up the great work on the vids!

Thank you so much for all the great support during the install, I love the ZAC intake! Hoping to do more AMG car mods in the future. We are in the process of building out a new shop, so our ability to do a lot more is coming.
