In this video we take you through the do-it-yourself steps of changing the OEM SLS-style grill on my 2016 Mercedes AMG GTS with the updated 2018+ Panamerica-style grill facelift without a full bumper replacement.
I sourced an after-market Panamerica-style grill from Ebay and we find out how easy or how hard it is for two 40-year old knuckle heads to do the full replacement without a lift in my home garage!

Hi. I’m having some issues with my grill, the one I ordered from China doesn’t fit. They reckon it’s the same as this but it doesn’t seem to have the corner parts. Any idea?

Looks great! Can the headlights be changed (upgraded) to a newer model?
I don't believe you can upgrade to 2017+ facelift headlights unless you do the full bumper replacement as well. I have never compared the headlights fully, it would take some research.
did it to my car but i cant get the bumper to fit tight again , there is a wider gap between the top of the bumper and the hood , how can i tighten that gap up ?
We had the same issue, Had to loosen the top bolts under the hood on the top, one person had to life up and push in while the other tighten the those bolts. It definitely was a two person job and you may have to adjust one by one till you get the gap and fitment you need.
Ok so I’m still trying to understand can we or can we not use the stock star off the stock grill on the panamerica grill?
I recommend measuring the space for the star in centimeters, then specifically find the correct star based on size of the after-market grill, I bought a W211 star and it fit correctly.
Did you have to clear any light or codes after re installing the cable and bumper. I was told, if you disconnct the distronics, you have to take it to MB for re coding.
No recoding, never took it to the dealer. Never even disconnected the battery either.

how did you mount the amg emblem on the driver side? I noticed it wasn't part of the piece you purchased but was installed in the final product. looking to do the same here
The AMG emblem actually did come with the after market grill, just didn’t film putting it on. It is unfortunately just double sided 3m tape attached to the grill ledge. We looked at an OEM grill and matched the placement. It has been on with no issues for over a year now. Thanks for watching. If you haven’t subscribed to the channel, please consider it. Let

I love the panamerica but with the diamond shaped grill. The new upside down diamond grill looks shite imo. This looks amazing despite being sacrilege.

Is this doable process to a normal gts driver who doesn't have much mechanical background? Or should I take it to a professional shop?
If you have no experience in automotive repair, then I would definitely seek a professional to do it, it is not overwhelming and you are patient you can do it yourself, but it takes a minimum two people and a lot of patience.
If watching this video start to finish required more time and patience than you can tolerate, then yeah hire a professional bodyshop. Otherwise, it's just a lot patience.
