Giraffe Build Series! This is the part 2 of a multiple part series on building giraffes!
Today is Day 193 of the Metal Relic video challenge! The script is mine, the voice is AI's.
This is part 2 of a 5 part series.
Picking back up from yesterday, we are making the body of the giraffe which simply consists of two nuts. Moving onto the next part, I am separating the bolts used for the legs. Since none of the legs are ever really straight, I use two longer bolts, and two shorter bolts for each leg to build the fronts and backs.
I have two partial holes drilled out in my worktop which works perfect. Simply put the first bolt in, and it acts as a holder until you can get the second bolt welded. Laying them all out and organizing is important for me so I can keep track of which parts belong to what.
I end up tacking both sides of the legs. Once in the front and once in the back. This gives it enough strength to hold and not break or fall off at the weld, even when abusing it during the cleaning process.
Fun Fact: A Giraffe's legs are about Six Feet long.
