💕 Hi Chantelle, you can go to an automotive store and buy head liner screws. That will be something more permanent. You won't be able to take it down. Maybe you can roll it up and have ways to tie it up. Maybe you can screw the screws into the ceiling and attach more hair ties to the screws so it is moveable.

Get a long thin strip of metal or a long thick wire that will go completely across the van with enough extra so you can curve it with the ceiling and sides of van then you run the curtain thru it and shove each side of wire or metal strip into wall between were the hard plastic and fabric meet

You can use a old fiberglass tent pole. Thred it thru the existing hem. The tension should hold it up there

Hang your darkening curtain on an extention curtain rod and use a medium size screw to screw it in to the cross bar above your windows. You may need to bend it slightly to fit against the ceiling of your van. You can slide the curtain back and forth as needed.

In my SUV, I had a curtain rod across the old s*** handles in the front and hung my blackout curtains from those. My minivan doesn't have oh s*** handles in the front, so I'm going to clip binder clips onto the side panels where you put the screws and then put a small, straight curtain rod through the handles of the clips. The curtains will hang from the rod.

get a package of large safety pins, open them up and just slide the pin end into the the fabric of the curtain and the roof. It won't damage the roof liner.

I did, and they damaged the roof. (Pulled it down.) The ones that are still in are hanging now because they didnt hold. It's okay, though.

I know I'm probably a little too late to the discussion but you really don't want to use anything like Velcro or thumbtacks that attach to the vehicles ceiling. That is called the vehicle headliner and you''re going to eventually cause the fabric to separate from the harder backer board that the fabric is spray glued too. I like the idea of screwing into the side pillars which won't cause any damage but when it comes to the ceiling itself, i think the way you have it with the center command strip is your best option as it's stuck to the plastic grey plug, not the headliner. If your headliner starts to fall, it's going to cost you easy $150.00 or more to have a replacement put into your vehicle. Most start to sag with age but you don't want to do anything to make that process speed up in any way. Hope it helps.

The gap is too much....just my opinion. I saw on cheap rv living Bob interviewed a lady who used some type of flat metal that she bent and molded to the curves of the roof of her van. She anchored them in tge plastic molding. (Like above where you screwed in the anchors) threaded the curtain on like a curtain rod. It looked like it worked awesome. Hope this helps.

Chrome from VanCity VanLife put a curtain rod across. If I am not mistaken, he stuck the ends above the plastic piece on the sides to hold the rod, or between two plastic pieces. Then he slide the curtain onto the rod. It was a year or two ago so it would be hard to find that video he made about it. Check if there is some way you could do something similar. Good luck.

Solving the darkening issues, keep it simple. Take a shower curtain or an old blanket. Find an adjustable rod and just pin it side to side. Pick a blanket, throw it over that rod and .... job done. Sleep tight like a princess... 😁😉

I have a few thoughts. To attach the hair ties to the curtain you need to slip knot them through the hole.
My other though is that you need some type of "rod". Perhaps fishing line through the casing then the fishing line hooks onto the hooks. There are holes already for the line to come out of the casing/hem. I hope that makes sense. Good luck.

I have had the same struggles with a curtain. I think our cans have the same curve aspect. I usually just drape a black out curtain over the seats and anchor it with a small pillow on each side. I just removed the one sticker from the outside of my van, just in case it unstealths my van a little.
