    I love this! I watched so many self lime washing videos, but this is the most natural and gorgeous. You did great job guys 🎉🎉 First of all, your color choices are wonderful. I am gonna try this for my house remodeling. Thank you!

      Agreed! This seems to be the most practical and easier way!

    This is very pretty. I’m definitely doing this in my living room. Keep an eye on the bathroom though since the finish is matte in a place that has more moisture than the rest of the house. If your walls start to sweat when you take hot showers keep an eye out for possible water damage. It could take years to set in but it depends on how long your showers are lol.

    Hubby has the flick of the wrist down, Fantastic job! Was going to thin out the paint with water, but with this technique I won't have to do as many coats key is the right brush and technique

    Thank you! I think this is probably one of the more high-quality finishes I have seen, and I think it is because the colours chosen are much more subtle in contrast. I have seen loads of Faux Limewash videos but I still get the feeling it just sort of looks like a bad paint job rather than a natural limewash effect. The real deal seems far far too expensive for me right now, so willing to give your method a try :)

      So glad you like it! I was really happy with how it turned out! I do think with this method, keeping the two paint colors close in color helps it to look a little better and more realistic!

    Do you need to do the primer? Ny walls are a super light beige now. I’m just wondering if I can do without and start right on my wall skipping it

      It shouldn't really matter with a light beige.

    I really love the warmth and dimension this paint treatment adds. Can you tell me how much paint it took to complete a room and whether your base coat was a primer, or 1-2 coats of finish paint? I’m trying to muster the courage to try this

    • @TheMerrythought
      @TheMerrythought  6 місяців тому +4

      Hi. Sorry for the delay in responding. The base coat had primer and 1 coat of white paint (Sherwin Williams Alabaster), just because that's what we had in there before we tried this technique. We used 1 quart of each color to do the faux limewash technique - it will depend on your room size how much of that you'll need. Hope that helps and good luck doing it. I'm really happy with ours!

    Are the colours you used, waterbased? Bc I saw another DIY limewash project, but she dipped the paint brush in water and then in paint every single time…btw the finished look is amazing:)

      @@leons5366 it is water based paint. Not sure why someone would dip it in water, but this way worked just fine for us!

    Nice but an fyi for anyone wanting to do this for the benefits not aesthetics, use real limewash. If you have a period property, the walls NEED to breath and limewash is perfect for that. If you want low VOCS that is naturally occurring in limewash as welll
