This is one of the most beautiful melodies ever made. This is why I've come back 3 years later. She also has one of the most incredible voices I've ever heard, also insanely beautiful
What a voice. It is good to see real artists still exist in this age of Computer-Generated and Pop stars that should have never been allowed behind a microphone
Absolutely love this song! her voice is so haunting, especially during the chorus, and the music feels so Egyptian haha. It's such a soothing song. I'd love it even more without the up-tempo part, but i still love it in it's whole. The men in this video kind of make me laugh haha but i really like the setting of this video, plus Katie's makeup/outfit, the lights, and the piano she plays on totally suits the chorus. It almost looks like she's on a boat haha!
Underrated indeed! Hadn't heard this song in many years, so I expected to see more views than 10 M now. She has so many good songs. But that's mainstream in a nutshell.
I love how perfect this video is, how it merges with the music and the message of the song. Everytime I watch it I see something new, like the sticks could represent the base pairs of dna, and the way the arms become part of Katie.
This might sound silly, but watching this video was really eye-opening in a sense; it made me see that men could be portrayed as beautiful (in an aesthetic sense, like how women are often portrayed as beautiful in works of art). Beauty is often described as something delicate which seems to be why it's associated with women more than men. But this video shows well of men's beauty which is shown as powerful and not delicate. I don't understand the video so much, but wow it just made me see that men can be beautiful as human beings.
Well the truth is men are always thought of beautiful but not necessarily in the same way, society does often see women as delicate and men as strong, like men are also objectified to maybe larger extent than women too but society again plays a game with to objectify women is a power thing that reduces women, when it's not that way at all most of the time and to objectify men is perfectly acceptable so it almost becomes something no one notices or thinks of, I mean women make remarks to men all the time and grope and touch men, but because its seen as acceptable again I say it's like no one notices, I love this song BTW lol 😂
It’s a pity you didn’t understand the video, it has such a powerful message. I hope you understand it at some point in your life. Especially when the world crumbles.
Yes Marcy, yes apparently so. She has been conditioned well I'm certain, to believe all kinds of presumptions, some true, about the male population. As a man, I am the first to make note of many of a man's failings, observing them and being one. It is quite sickening to watch men almost naturally be.....inhuman. Many seem to like it there...as it avoids personal responsibility. Movies, commercials, the fem movement, all work hard to disparage men, the irony is many men seem to invite the role of 'fool' others would have them to be, and then find comfort in handing the reins over to others while the men play "victim". Today, men and women have 'lost their way' as God designed them. The result in the lack of God's roles for us is in full bloom all around us. Thank you, Marcy for your comment.
Yeah I know this song because of GlaDOS is to blame, but now I'm a full blown katie fan! All her songs are a work of art. We need more musicians like her, just wish she'd come to America.
I love YT, cause after several random clicks you somehow find a gem like this: not perfect, but certainly artistic, thought-provoking, entertaining, and worthy. evidently, i'm not the only one who thinks that!
It took me 5 years to find this song and video again. I was seriously checking almost every song that came out during that period just to hunt this song again, because I've remembered everything, but the artist's name, lyrics and the title. This alone kind of makes me want to listen to this every day now, it was worth the trouble.
"....because I've remembered everything, but the artist's name, lyrics and the title."....yea those are kinda the important stuff to remember and to re-find a song 😂
@@jis87BE Yeah, but I did remember most of the music video, the rhythm and melody of the song, the change after the bridge and that it had something to do with water/rain. Which is ironic.

If Kylie Minogue had recorded this it would've been proclaimed as a classic but because it was Katie Melua it was pretty much ignored. It's a great song.

There's a very strong philosophical message with this song that resonates with me and a lot of the characters that I write. We may have been brought here from a video game related video but is that any different from using old cartoons to instill a love of classical music? Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to see what else this artist has made.
This song is actually related to an ancient tribal dance. The ancient rhythm that is mentioned is the beat of the earth as many believed back then. The dance is a stance for a tribal warrior trial.

Katie should have continued collaborating with whoever wrote the song, composed the music and made the video! This is simply an art work!
The Flood Gravemind you mean?
she co-wrote it with Guy Chambers (also responsible for Robbie Williams's biggest hits) and Lauren Christy.
