- AS WITH ALL MY VIDEOS I TRY TO GIVE THE MOST INFORMATION IN THE LEAST AMOUNT OF TIME AS POSSIBLE SO I DONT WAIST YOUR TIME. IN THIS VIDEO I BOUGHT A RUGGED RADIO INTERCOM AND BLUETOOTH SYSTEM. I GO OVER A GENERAL OVERVIEW ON HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS AND WHY I GOT IT. I DO A COMPLETE INSTALL ON MY 2019 RZR XP4 AND GO OVER SOME ISSUES I HAD DURING THE INSTALL SO YOU KNOW WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR. I ALSO ADDED A POWER SWITCH TO TURN THE SYSTEM ON AND OFF AND GO OVER HOW AND WHY I ADDED THAT SWITCH.
Yeah I struggled with that too still learning but I’m not familiar enough to give any info I would search operating a rugged radio and see what you find 👍
Two years later and no one has pointed this out.... your "intercom" is actually a two way radio... plugged into what is called an "intercom, with Bluetooth". It took a bit to figure out which units you were talking about. That said, nice install. So what kind of range do you get when talking with similar equipped cars?
Hard to say at the dunes on top of high I pick up several different groups that I cannot see so it’s got to be a pretty far distance
thats incorrect. intercom is a wired system that in vehicle headsets connect to. car to car is 2 intercom system connected via a 2 way radio. intercom with bluetooth is the in car intercom system that uses a bluetooth connection to connect to a music player or cellphone so music can be played through the in car intercom/headsets. range depends on many factors but mainly depends on what kind of 2 way radio you use, the wattage and antenna.
Dan, Where can I find some info on operating the radio? I've got the same radio but operating instructions are kind of meager.
How did you get bluetooth to connect? I followed the instructions and we tried 2 different phones and a tablet and rugged does not pop up. The way the instructions say just to turn the communication on then your bluetooth on seems like anyone with bluetooth could connect. I feel it should go to pairing mode but rugged instructions has nothing about holding buttons down. I emailed them but it's the weekend. Hoping you could tell me how you did this. I have the same unit. Thanks
That’s specifically why I added the power on off rocker switch because I would have to cycle it off and then back on to get anything to pair to it but try turning off the rugged radio at the volume knob all the way to the left and then turning it back on and pairing immediately
The reason I added the rocker switch is because I didn’t want to have to adjust the volume every time when I wanted to pair a new phone
How did you guys get the Bluetooth to work have tried how the said in the instructions but it never pops up
How do the rear passengers talk if there’s no PTT?
The people in the backseat can only talk to the people in your own car not other cars The push to talk for the driver and Co. driver is for talking to other vehicles
@@diydan7019 oh. Duh. So it automatically picks up voices for in car comms?
👍
they just talk
For the {lack} of price difference between rugged and pci these days i see no reason why anyone would run rugged stuff.
I'm not seeing a price difference between PCI and Rugged when comparing similar setups.
@@bobbybarnes1652 the difference in quality however is vast. Rugged is just chinese junk.
@@DieselRamcharger Not anymore. They design AND manufacture their radios in California. If you don't believe me, call them yourself ... and try to stop living in the past someday, Uncle Rico.
@@bobbybarnes1652 lmao you are absolutely wrong.
@@DieselRamcharger No, I am absolutely right. Close the pie hole and call them. Hell, look at the top of their web site. It clearly states, "Designed and manufactured in Arroyo Grande, CA".
Those push pins you bought are the absolute worst! Cheap as shit. If you have to pop them in the future the head will just break off.
