Odd, unless you are looking for a specific weapon or item, there is no reason to keep your slots open. In fact, the game *prioritizes* giving you new weapons/items when you level up, which makes it harder to level up what you have. Once you have your slots filled, you are much more likely to get a specific weapon/item on level up (like the whip!). Also, Torrona's Box doesn't give you hidden curse, the enemies just get stronger over time in Bone Zone as a stage feature.
Yeah the best way to level any item is to have your full suite of items (no empty slots) as it will then never give you an option you do not own. I get OP know this but other can learn.
Please read the effects of Torona on the level up options when it appears. Enemies in the Bone Zone are getting tougher because it's a challenge level that makes them tougher over time, just like the stage description says.

I have to say.... When Odd was frustrated as hell during the second run around the 45:18 mark and he picked up the chest with triple rewards and got two health and a torrona box and he sounded defeated because of no basic whip I busted out laughing. Thanks for the laugh 😂 good job on the run. And like I said, you don't _have_ to evolve everything. That's just how I play sometimes, it's more fun to not optimize everything. One more thing: check out the music for future runs, there are some great tunes in there that pay homage to lots of different games, with Castlevania and Killer Instinct as a couple of them.

I'd advise against going straight for the guardians right from the get-go. Try to build up a high dps loadout first so you can (ideally) burst them down before they get too close. Btw, use this same strategy on the skeleton ball in Bone Zone. It gets stronger and tankier as it runs over enemies, so you also want to build a high dps and burst it down as quickly as possible before it has a chance to get stronger.
I feel like unless you're playing a slow character, if you make sure your build has some ambient damage like rune tracer or lightning ring, you can just keep moving away from the guardians and eventually they'll croak.
Skip doesn't remove everything in the list forever, it's just a one-time skip over that choice of 3 that gives you extra EXP towards the next level instead, but everything you skipped over can reappear when you next level up. it's basically a slightly weaker "re-roll" option, which you can also unlock, but because you have a limited amount of skips, rerolls, and banishes, it means you can dynamically choose to save a reroll and use a skip instead
If you fill your slots early, then all future options will be from among your chosen load-out, also if you get the chance to max an item, it will exit the options and let your other options come through more consistently. In this run for example you had the chance to max the 2nd whip faster.

I think that the lancet has good synergies with vento sacro (blue whip) and the knives. Indeed, when at high level, the lancet rotates quite fast, allowing the player to go around in circle while diving through a dense mass of frozen enemies. And this therefore allows him or her to do full damage with vento & knives, by going forward through the frozen enemies. It might be worth a try.
@christopherodd you can use support items without considering which weapon they evolve. esp items like tome (essentially atk spd for all weapons) are really strong on everything - so don't feel like you're locked into wand just for picking it up
One thing, don't fixate on this map. Thanks to the yellow sign the rings and arrow items will appear on every stage from now on, so you can play whatever map and still try to figure them out
27:15 - VIsual for crit damage. When you have damage numbers on, they will show up different from regular damage. Also, You are missing a key element to build crafting. Look carefully through the objective lists to see what you can find.
When you fill up all your weapon/accessory slots, the only upgrades you see when you level up are for ones you already have. So you can increase your odds of getting what you want if you fill your slots, because you remove all the other options from the prize pool. Same thing with upgrading something to max level. So when you have something sitting at level 7, if you go ahead and push it to level 8, you won't have to see it in the list anymore, which means you're more likely to see something you actually want.
Awesome series again. Wanted to say that first. Additionally, if you get to see this, I''ll say that it might be worth trying to look at the buff items not simply as things to evolve weapons, but rather as means of improving other weapons abilities -you end up getting waay more out of weapons, even evolved ones by teaming them up with multiple buffing items and the arcana cards that help them. From what I've seen all together, the folks that really power level stick to one or two weapons, maybe 3, and then get the items that maybe evolve them but most importantly make them more powerful. So the Tome helps with just about all of them and so on. I've seen folk at level 90 after about 5 min. They have the curse up high and such, but its also easier to max out a few weapons and their buffs quickly, rather than trying to do 6 different weapons and their evolutions. Also, banishing can really be important. It may seem like you're losing out by banishing, but by optimizing like that you end up getting way more levels and so losing out a couple upgrades ends up not really making a difference over the course of the run (you have done more banishing more this time, as I'm watching the video). Last thing I promise (added this bit in last) - when you banish an item you've currently been using, it doesn't take away anything you've already gotten, just stops it from showing up again. So if you don't need a bunch of levels in an item and just need it for evolving, if it keeps getting in the way of stuff you want you can banish it to increase chances of getting things you need. This level is really hard for leveling and increasing weapons because there are no big attract orbs. Not sure why someone said they are a trap, but they aren't - you really need them to level up a bunch. Having said all that, keep playing it however you enjoy it most and feels that works for you - just tossing out these options/ideas. Keep up the great work! A couple more things I just thought of -- they aren't hints or any spoilers, just game mechanics things. With the bosses, as you saw with that really hard to kill guardian from the last run, if they go off screen too long they will teleport back into the screen from somewhere else - that;s why it kept appearing out of nowhere. Also, some items have really high knock back, and you can end up knocking stuff off screen without killing it and that was happening a ton in the last run. It shows up at the top how many enemies you're killing, and you can see when you're mostly just pushing people away and not getting that many kills. Luck increases your chance to crit with weapons, so that's one reason to have it. With the lightning ring, the evolution fires all at once but pre-evoltion it sort of goes off continuously, so its not always best to evolve stuff - worth playing around to see what works best - though certainly going for new evolutions is always cool. Enemies HP and damage does go up with your levels, which is why stuff can get tougher to kill if you don't have weapons evolved etc - because your damage doesn't go up without your increasing stuff, so the enemies can scale out of range if you don't have weapons keeping up with your leveling. Hmm... trying to think of anything else. There are a few others, but they might be better learned through practicing/playing. The library is the best for farming I think I've seen, if you want to evolve new weapons faster - and the new weapons etc will all show up on older levels too, so you don't just have to play the newest level - though playing only newer ones may be better for keeping viewer's attention. Older levels will have new stuff when you go back to them though, so its not just same old same old. One more thing - there is a YT guy named Dex, a german fellow, who also does VS vids, and you can watch maybe one video where he's testing to see how much damage he can max out of certain weapons. This way, picking a weapon you've already seen evolved, so it doesn't spoil anything, you can see better what I mean about how to best optimize weapons with the buff items and the cards. He also uses limit break, which you just unlocked as well, to really max things out - but you by no means have to use that to still get really crazy weapon damage and effects.
Enjoying the series so far :) A few tips: Study the DPS chart at the end of the level, but don't be fooled by a single sample. Results may vary between runs. But also use common sense. Weapons that can deal high damage are not always the best, and weapons that felt good in your early runs might not keep up as you tackle harder challenges. Defensive items such as armor, health and health regen generally occupy slots that could be used to increase your damage. The rationale is that if you don't have enough dps to make it to the endgame, there's no amount of defense that allows you to survive it. And for that reason, I'd recommend against using too many of the weapons that pair with said items. There are two exceptions, which you have and have not discovered yet. I'll leave it at that so as to not spoil anything ;) Speaking of exceptions, those things will make the Reaper much easier to kill. They can be killed without them, but it takes rather careful planning, and special stages like Bone Zone are not the place to try, because they often impose special challenges. The Bone Zone increases enemy health, including the Reaper's. Good luck!
Really great seeing more of the bone zone!!!! Excellent progress too!!! The runs learning did really pay off!!! I'm sure that this can be topped, having seen how crazier this game gets with each run that passes. Totally excited to see that!!!!
Epic playthrough! Very close on the strategy to killing the Reapers. Will look forward to seeing this come to fruition with more discoveries as you continue to play. Looks like Hyper mode is next based on some comments? Since you have better handles on the game this should be fun for you especially on the early maps! As always Odd, keep doing what you're doing. Always a pleasure to watch you figure things out!
If you want to find a specific evolution for a weapon (like the cat or song of mana), I'd suggest going for the map with 16 passive items on it. Pick up 6 passives that will help you lvl up the most, like crown, atractorb, tome, wings etc. Then max the weapons you want to evolve and pick up all the other passives and hunt for chests. Another thing. The passives don't have a hidden effect (like torrona's box). On bone zone if you read the map description, it says that the enemies are getting stronger. They get more health every minute, so that's what you're experiencing. Third thing is something I'm not 100% sure, but I also feel like there is a bias in the randomness of the lvl up choices. Sometimes I get one specific common weapon offered 10 times in a row while another common one doesn't appear for 20-30 lvls. When I see that I get offered a single weapon I don't want 4-5 times in a row, I started banishing it. It really helps me to 'refresh' the randomness and get other weapons offered.
[Morpheus] He's beginning to believe... [/Morpheus] Seriously, fantastic run! Thanks for the long one, I love this series, and keep it up. You're definitely on the right track!
@ChristopherOdd I would always pick up the Empty Tome, even if you don't evolve the Magic Wand (I permanently banished it even.) - the reduced cooldown means you fire more often, and is often a flat upgrade over spinach if you have to choose between the two. Edit: And if you run with Torrona's Box, consider saving a Banish for its final level. Its Curse effect is, as you surmised last episode, only activated on the final level. You can banish it instead of taking that last level for all the benefits and none of the Curse. You DID find the solution for survival into the 31st Minute unlocks, so congrats! There's a little more to it but I'll let you figure it out. Also congrats on the Scroll relic!
When you tried casting that spell at the end. You did do the right thing. You may go back and try typing it in using the Keyboard. I had the same issue when I did that a couple of days ago, and that fixed it.
Cool second run too, I would have been tempted to have grabbed the rings to see what happens once you had things under control, since you had that time freeze thing. Also curious to know what the things on the left and right are. Nice play, good to see your discipline paying off.
After yesterday's episode, I decided to try and fight that bone rolling thing. Took four tries with three different characters. Got it with Poppea (Song of Mana). Mr. Odd, But taking a page from your playing, I take all my new unlocks to Moonglow stage. Nice
little advice Odd, consider taking the attractorb more often, even if you don't get the water, just having it makes it more easier to level up with. Second, you should always max out whatever upgrade you have, in doing so you can stop it from popping up again in the run and increase the chance of whatever it is you are trying to upgrade to come up sooner.
Those ‘songs’ are the Arcana’s that you choose at level starts… I’d suggest getting them unlocked asap as they provide decent variety to your play style. Also lvl50 requirement for unlocking is very very easy. Keep up the good work!
I started playing on mobile when you did, loving the game and it's perfect for touch screen. Shame its missing some dlc but still lots to do. Keep up the runs
It's hard to compare the two whips in a single run. The Vento Sacro was from the start when there was few enemies around, and the basic Whip came in at a later stage when it was easier to hit multiple enemies at the same time. Granted though, it seems easier to hit the basic one.
I wonder if using your banishes ASAP would help get you to what you want faster. If you fill up all your slots, it never shows you something you don't want also, so the less you have before that, the faster you can get to that point. Just a thought though.
Ok so.... MINOR spoiler - but its obtuse enough that it warrants it. The spell it asks you to cast in the secrets menu, its not actually cast in the secrets menu. use your keyboard in main menu AND it has to be entered very quickly (a few seconds). This is the only spell that is cast this way. There is no hint or explanation that it works this way, and its actually buggy half the time, so this is one of very few cases where this is more of a tip than spoiler, imo.
Each of those Items on the end of the map are all guarded by those Guardians, they pop up once you get close. The one on the TOP and LEFT buff you, the one on the BOTTOM and RIGHT buff enemies. Also your theory about them evolving the Lancet and Laurel are correct cus they didn't appear in the list till you revealed them. By process of elimination, the Song of Mana and Gatti Amani would have to Evolve with the Ether: The Stone Mask, The Skull O mania, or that cured box thing. Ill be hoenst, if you can get the Evolved Laural, all you need is the normal Lancet and you will just OWN the Reaper.
Lol dying at you going to the hardest zone to try to evolve this weapon. It's funny because I literally did the same thing trying to get the lance / laurel evolutions. I didn't know they could be done on other maps.
20:00 a punishment for not taking tiragisu, wand on two separate ocasion and laurel, as well skipping awake and armor. you're good at mechanical side of palying but not so much the planning early on it's better to take more weapons than to level already posesed ones not only does it give you more power and range to engage enemies it also fills up your slots so that you only get what you already have and have higher chance of getting what you want the most plus focus on getting more arcanas, skips rerols etc. as those give you more controll over the gameplay
To be fair, people have been roasting him for taking defensive items such as the armor and laurel instead of offensive items since episode 1, so I get why he's hesitant to take them. I'm also assuming he was thinking about the long-term and simply hoping that he'd be able to survive/recuperate/recover. Personally I sort of agree with I'm not choosing defensive weapons/utils there. Even more-so if he would've had that Tiragisu revive thingy from the upgrade (main) menu as I do prefer the "all-out-offensive" strategy myself (though I won't flame anyone for doing otherwise, ofc).
@@Lowkeh if he was taking full build first and maximizing its growth second it could work without defensive items but he's doing neither of those things
@@adamtennant4936 yes, there are scenarios like this but they require a lot of knowledge to pull off and are not fit for someone still learning especially when you have 10min to evolve so you can easily get all weapons and prepare the evolution with increased xp that you get
I think you would greatly benefit from unlocking more arcanas because certain ones can make you crazy strong. They are the Roman numerals on the unlock list.
You don't take damage from frozen enemies - so when the lancet makes path of frozen enemies you can run across them without taking damage - but the enemies block each other and can't get to you over their frozen counterparts.
Just gonna throw my oar in about Torrona's box. You always read it for the first 8 levels, but don't read the 9th level of it. If you do, you'll understand why it's cursed and why the difficulty jumps.
The reaper can be killed BUT.. The reaper has 655,350 x player level meaning the 1st reaper spawned with 64,224,300 health. Due to Odd being lvl98 at 30mins.
They are not songs. That's all I'm saying. Also, given the "Settle the score with the reaper" secret, yes they can be killed. But without ( a ) specific weapon(s), it's difficult.
@ChristopherOdd well done!!! Almost killed the first Reaper!! Yes you can nuke the daylight out of them. Pity you had Toronna's Box, as this increases the Reaper's Health Pool substantially. Your loadout was good enough to kill the first Reaper and prevent the rest from appearing! And yes Lancet is key to killing Reaper! Hopefully next time!!
Yeah, it's unfortunate he burned all his banishes before the last level of the box appeared. If he'd saved one he could have banished the last level and got all the benefits with none of the downsides.

Enjoying the series so far :)
A few tips:
Study the DPS chart at the end of the level, but don't be fooled by a single sample.
I'll leave it at that so as to not spoil anything ;)
Speaking of exceptions, those things will make the Reaper much easier to kill. They can be killed without them, but it takes rather careful planning, and special stages like Bone Zone are not the place to try, because they often impose special challenges. The Bone Zone increases enemy health, including the Reaper's.
Good luck!
Odd: I'm going to need your box buddy
Me: Ayo 🥺👉👈
54 left, to obtain. So a few more episodes
It really helps me to 'refresh' the randomness and get other weapons offered.
attract orb is a great pick to level quicker, and santa water is one of the best items in game so its not wasted as a potential evolution.
You asked about a visual for crits, I believe you can see when it crits based on the damage number but I think you have those turned off.
[Morpheus] He's beginning to believe... [/Morpheus]
Seriously, fantastic run! Thanks for the long one, I love this series, and keep it up. You're definitely on the right track!
You DON"T have to do the Unlocks in order. Skip around. You're not leveled up enough to get all the artifacts yet. And hit Enter for spell..
1:11:18 Those aren't songs, those are more Arcanas.
Toronas Box only gives you what it says in the tooltip, there are no hidden curse mechanics with it. Just so you know :)
For those wondering the curse comes at level 9 and it is +100% curse.
Absolutely loving the series. So glad to see you finally getting the whips upgraded
I started playing on mobile when you did, loving the game and it's perfect for touch screen. Shame its missing some dlc but still lots to do. Keep up the runs
The gold and silver rings are key to killing the red death things. Just keep playing.
It's hard to compare the two whips in a single run. The Vento Sacro was from the start when there was few enemies around, and the basic Whip came in at a later stage when it was easier to hit multiple enemies at the same time. Granted though, it seems easier to hit the basic one.
the numbered unlocks are arcane's, not songs. and they are worth getting.
💪😎 _I love the thumbnail and episode_ 😎👍
_The key to beating Death lies in the evolutions of Laurel and Clock Lancet_
Loving this series! Kon seeing a bible, axe, whip, song of mana and santa water run if the mood strikes you.
Lancet and/or laurel is pretty key to survive past 30 mins. To offset the 2 weapon slots being used, you need strong DPS.
Turning damage numbers on under options is the only visual way i know of to tell when you crit.
I wonder if using your banishes ASAP would help get you to what you want faster. If you fill up all your slots, it never shows you something you don't want also, so the less you have before that, the faster you can get to that point. Just a thought though.
And banish the common items like axe and knife etc.
„Look under previously owned coffins“ must definitely be a reference to Monkey Island 2.
I got it to work in the cast menu screen, I used keyboard and hit enter at the end I think.
Is that a PC thing? I've only played on mobile and cast the spell in the menu.
you can also cast it in the secrets menu
Just finished watching the first run, really loved the discipline there. On a stage with food, I think you would have managed it.
use the hyper mode it gives you move speed
Garlic/pummarola seem top tier on this level
What's in store in today's episode of Odd Plays? Lets watch and see!
The golden boss is a guardian, you can kill it. My advise is to evolve the clock lance, its the most powerful evol in this game
Lol dying at you going to the hardest zone to try to evolve this weapon. It's funny because I literally did the same thing trying to get the lance / laurel evolutions. I didn't know they could be done on other maps.
Petition for Mr Odd to make all vampire survivors videos at least an hour long with two runs 😁
He's already responded to this that the algorithm is broken and he would get fewer views, if he did this.
Oh i see, cool. Well the algorithm sucks
20:00 a punishment for not taking tiragisu, wand on two separate ocasion and laurel, as well skipping awake and armor.
you're good at mechanical side of palying but not so much the planning
early on it's better to take more weapons than to level already posesed ones
not only does it give you more power and range to engage enemies
it also fills up your slots so that you only get what you already have and have higher chance of getting what you want the most
plus focus on getting more arcanas, skips rerols etc. as those give you more controll over the gameplay
@@Lowkeh if he was taking full build first and maximizing its growth second it could work without defensive items
but he's doing neither of those things
@@adamtennant4936 yes, there are scenarios like this but they require a lot of knowledge to pull off and are not fit for someone still learning
especially when you have 10min to evolve so you can easily get all weapons and prepare the evolution with increased xp that you get
Awsome run Odd, I bet most of the big bosses need the freeze ray to help kill them.
Every time you think you're getting near the end of the secrets more come along to disabuse of that thought.
Just gonna throw my oar in about Torrona's box. You always read it for the first 8 levels, but don't read the 9th level of it. If you do, you'll understand why it's cursed and why the difficulty jumps.
Try typing the spell with your keyboard, only way I got it to work, loving the content man!
Odd if you have damage numbers enabled, the yellow numbers represent crit damage.
re: crit visuals
The only crit visual I'm aware of is the damage numbers change color, but you have those turned off.
Getting sooo much better at dodging!
Surprised Sketamari (yes that's his name, congrats if you get the reference) fell that quick, took me forever.
Pick a easier map if you want to go evolutions.
They can die, you should investigate the items on the edges of the map.
sad that he didn't go for the evolution for the lance, but hella happy for him first brawl with the reaper got to 33,00
The reaper can be killed BUT..
The reaper has 655,350 x player level meaning the 1st reaper spawned with 64,224,300 health. Due to Odd being lvl98 at 30mins.
Plus torronas box is a +% for enemy health
True, at max level. That's why I always banish it on the last level unless I am doing a max curse run.
I would have liked to have seen you go for the ring guardian in the last few mins of the run
The red deaths can die, ideally you want to evolve the lancet though, makes it a lot easier, also, unlocking VIII will make it a lil easier
41:52
I think you need to pray harder to RNGsus.
I'd highly recommend you get the relics and the lancet, with laurel. Not a spoiler just a high suggestion.
“Is there a visual for criting?”
There is you disabled the numbers, it comes up in a red number
They are not songs. That's all I'm saying.
Also, given the "Settle the score with the reaper" secret, yes they can be killed. But without ( a ) specific weapon(s), it's difficult.
You could have saved a banish to use on Torona's Box
YES, there is a visual for crits but you need damage numbers to be displayed
@ChristopherOdd well done!!! Almost killed the first Reaper!! Yes you can nuke the daylight out of them. Pity you had Toronna's Box, as this increases the Reaper's Health Pool substantially. Your loadout was good enough to kill the first Reaper and prevent the rest from appearing! And yes Lancet is key to killing Reaper! Hopefully next time!!
Also.. they are not songs.. they are all Arcanas you unlock!
Yeah, it's unfortunate he burned all his banishes before the last level of the box appeared. If he'd saved one he could have banished the last level and got all the benefits with none of the downsides.
content idea. a video of tier listing the different weapons and support items
