Unbelievable. Why would Joseph speak from both sides of his mouth? While you say that he taught and practiced polygamy he was at the same time telling the women in Relief Society it was evil and told them not to do it. Yeah, no contemporary records, only papers long after his death.

To believe the LDS narrative on polygamy is to believe Joseph Smith was one of the greatest religious hypocrites known in the religious world considering what he said and did on record, in public, while he was alive. He, Hyrum, and Emma made every effort to condemn the practice in the strongest language possible.

@@phillipcook3430 A well-founded opinion based upon the evidence. You’ve won the lottery if you can find ANY instance of Joseph promoting polygamy in public, on record, while alive. NONE exist. But what I can find are dozen of examples where it was condemned by him and others while he was alive. To suggest the LDS narrative ISN’T hypocritical is flat out wrong.

My husband just made a good point. He said: In the Old Testament the men didn't go out looking for more women but starting with Brigham the men were actively seeking more women without the consent of their wives. And many of them were still just children. No dear brothers, they were a bunch of hungry men with veracious appetites for women and young girls and crazy for power, control and wealth.

@@brianstutzman5037 Are you saying that the Bible only abbreviated the accounts of polygamy when we are told that Sarah told Abraham to take Hagar so Sarah could have a child? That Jacob was tricked into polygamy and later his wives demanded that he take their handmaids to provide more children for themselves? That was a law of the land at that time and they took advantage of it. How could anyone know that God commanded these things to happen when there is no record of it? The Bible and the Book of Mormon are very clear that one man should have one wife. The Bible tells us that a man should cleave unto his "wife" and none other. Never do the scripture tell us that God commanded polygamy.

“ my wife, and I come through polygamy. The house of Israel comes to polygamy!“
The house of Israel also comes through slavery. Is slavery of God by the same standards?
If you can’t show even one single example of God commanding somebody to take a plural wife, why do you assume the doctrine of many wives and concubines is from Jesus Christ? What motivates you to be a public advocate for the doctrine of many wives and concubines?
You cannot demonstrate Joseph Smith ever teaching it. You cannot demonstrate God ever commanding it (outside of current section 132).

@@brianstutzman5037 Read the most correct book the Book of Mormon.
Read Jacob 2 & 3 as an essay. Read these few below. Even when Joseph had the first translation they were not separated into verses obviously.
If I were editing Jacob's English paper I would say these things in parenthesis so the reader understands what is being said. If a whole church gets it wrong, so could anyone! Please see the following 6 verses....the English paper.
25 Wherefore, thus saith the Lord, I have led this people forth out of the land of Jerusalem, by the power of mine arm, that I might raise up unto me a righteous branch from the fruit of the loins of Joseph. (I like how you describe raising up a righteous branch as fruit. It could be confusing to some though, they may not understand. I'm glad later you describe the same thing as raising a righteous seed.)
26 Wherefore, I the Lord God will not suffer that this people shall do like unto them of old. (Do what like unto them of old?)
27 Wherefore, my brethren, hear me, and hearken to the word of the Lord: For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none; (I see that you answer it here, to not have more wives and concubines.)
28 For I, the Lord God, delight in the chastity of women. And whoredoms are an abomination before me; thus saith the Lord of Hosts. (I like how you lay out plainly as God does.)
29 Wherefore, this people shall keep my commandments, saith the Lord of Hosts, or cursed be the land for their sakes. (One day they will see what happened to their people, it's a shame.)
30 For if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people * (In this astrix spot like you said in verse 25 about leading a people forth out of the land; it will need to be said again. This is where in the 1800's - 2000's people will negate what was said (vs. 25) because they don't read properly anymore nor do they think leaving a land is a big deal or important because they move from place to place all the time and do not see the wickedness around them. They do not remember all throughout scripture the people were lead out to save them and then the wicked who were left were destroyed. You may have to tell them super plainly. A straight forward way is just restating your points like this,
30 For if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people (to be lead out of the land); otherwise they shall hearken unto these things (of many wives and concubines).
God does NOT authorize to "sometimes" delight in the chastity of women, "sometimes" to commit abominations and "sometimes" desire whoredoms.
Do you see how ridiculous that sounds. You haven't prayed about this at all have you. You also see women as an object!
