Swapping out the 1959 Jaguar front suspension with a Jaguar XJ6 IFS

  • The beauty of an IFS swap is that it upgrades the suspension, steering, and brakes all in one. The XJ6 front suspension is strong, compact, elegant, and has modern components (like rack & pinion steering and disc brakes with big 4-piston calipers). It's a nicely engineered front end that is going to be a big improvement for the 1959 Jaguar 🚨

Joleen, I think the editing you did on this video, using the 2x speed is great. Sometimes the cutting, grinding and spot welding can seem like watching grass grow. I also would love to see you film thru a welders lens during a welding process. I really enjoy
    all your vids. Hi Chad

Hello Chad & Jolene and Aidyn. I hope that you all are having a great day. The new front suspension is going to work very well for this build. The 59 Jaguar is going to work great. Thank you for showing all of us this can be done at a cost that we can afford to do.

When you build your building to house the cars, you should make it like a museum so people can come see your cars and you could make money showing them, along with a gift shop. I'm sure a lot of people would love to see your cars in person. You also could put your cars in various stages of their build in the museum, as they would be very interesting to see too. Just a thought. Love your videos.

I am not tired of watching you turn four doors into 2 door coups. Seriously, that is the best build and I can't get enough of it. Maybe you could give it different flair, but still a 2 door coup.

I painted a fiero many many years ago and hot water pressure washed it . Took every bit of paint off down to the bare plastic quite easily. Made my life a lot of easier ,
Done the same with a transam nose cone and worked well too.
Might be worth giving it a go if you have access to one .

Please don't just cut the torsion bar, follow it back to under the car around the driver's seat, should have an adjustment there, use an air gun with socket take all tension off the rod, then can remove safely.

To release the torsion bar you need to free it from the pressure plate side at the start of the tunnel.

I am quadriplegic and was shot in 2012 I haven't really seen very many wheelchair vans made out of really cool cars I think it would be cool to see you build something like that then donated to a family in need of a vehicle it's very hard to obtain one and there's not a lot of resources out there for people to get one I was lucky enough to get mine through a educational program I think that would be something cool to do with the old Dodge you have in the background

So I’m watching you remove the front end on the Jag so that the new one can be fitted. My question is, why are you not putting the vehicle on the lift? With it being on the lift, getting down on the ground to remove things wouldn’t have to happen. Also, once the old suspension is removed, placing the new one would be a lot easier to install. Plus the vehicle would be far enough out of the door way that if the the project stalled out for the night closing up would be easier. Unloading the torsion bars before removing is needed. There is an adjustment in place for height adjustment.

Chad, have you considered sandblasting that wing with walnut shell blasting media? I have used that technique many times on plastic and fiberglass as it is pretty gentle. If you control your pressure and distance, you could quickly fix that wing without making it wavy. It is worth a try as it only takes a few minutes.

Love watching your hard work and results on You Tube and great filming from Jolene.

When you were talking about turning that 1935 Dodge sedan into a truck, at that moment I thought to myself if a guy turned it into a backwards driving car where the back is actually the front, maybe it could be made to look kind of like an old cab over engine style truck, or an old Ford Econoline style truck. That may be a major stretch but it popped into my head so I'm laying it out there.

4th of July Holiday, so 4 days off to have fun....which means out to the garage at 7:30 so i can put in about 8 hours or so on the current job. Normally work in garage after putting in my factory time.
What's my point? Why am I talking about what I'm doing?
    Here's my point:
I can understand how the bad Chad can be happy pretty much every day. When you have time and freedom and passion and live what you are doing....every day is great! Every day is something to accomplish. I hope to garage work daily when I retire from the day job
Sitting around not an option. It's maintaining a passion/interest and drive that keeps you young and alive and moving thru life with contentment (if you are That type of person, I mean. Some are, some are not)

re the red paint pulling off on body panels..what we used to do if its obviously a touchy one is ,for NEW masking, pull off tape roll to a little more than needed.put your hands both ends of tape then rub hglue side of tape across tour shirt or trouser led [material] which removes the harsh glue.. but still sticky to hold in place..might take a couple of wipes to get the feel for it.. but we called if soft masking..ty Sirs and Jolene for great viewing .
