this is gonna make the grind for the 14b and f16 so much easier
In extended fights it is CRUCIAL to stay above mach 0.9. I see so many people who don't know this and they have bad performance with the f5c because of this. Also, Armored target belts are where it's at. The damage is good AND it works on light pill boxes from the side.
If you can aim the F5C is amazing as a grinder
As a proud F5C owner, I highly recommend if you actually enjoy playing war thunder. If you don't, or if you only want the highest tier aircraft, don't. But if you enjoy playing a lot of tiers, then it's a great way to get there.
The F-5 will teach you how to fly a jet, aim cannons, and launch missiles; the F-4 will teach you how to use a weapons system, juggle targets, weapons selection, and engagement envelopes.
The phantom is way harder to actually use effectively and not just because of the BR.
I tend to say f*** it and close in combat flaps for a rear aspect sidewinder shot rather that sort out a lock in the fuball on the deck. Amusing when an F-16 gets outmanuvered by the plane it replaced.
Exactly my point! The F5 might look complicated, but it all boils down to "hold elevator to win". Because it's by far the best turnfighter per BR, if an enemy decides to turn wiht you, you win

Took me 2 years to convince my self to get that expert training for it, do to its extremely expensive (this is where u have to pay the planes' SL value, despite u already payed for the plane with real money), and cuz its a high BR low tech jet, that barely supersonic - "under-engined" - (AKA it wasn't good enough to waste 1.5M SL on it), so just like with the British tree I got to rank 7 with rarely flying their rank 6 premiums i have. + bonus issue: there's a lot of them (F-5C players)!
Also F-5C players are my "bread & butter" when i fly my Ariete or Shenyang F-5 because they think they can turn with me, (instead of running away like most other jets like to do).
I think the experts is well worth it if you have at least around 3 million SL in the "bank"

I have the f5c and I know the aim 9e weren’t that good from the get go but I could’ve sworn that before I took a break from the game you where able to lock on to enemy’s from the sides and head on and now it’s only from the back . Did they change something about the f5c or the aim 9e
I have the F-5C for a while now and besides grinding (which it still can do if you have half a brain, certainly in Sim) it's a fun plane. It's good enough at practically everything but not OP and it forces you to develop some skills like you said. Best prem in the game fun-wise since it's release.

i want to love the tiger but high aoa turns lags the game (seems to be because the game tries to calculate aero) and so i can only rely on mach passes

I like the F5C. Its my only plane in the American tree above 5.0 but thats cuz Im a Russian main. Still though, the F5C can turn and climb without losing speed much and the guns are forgiving. It gets a lot of flares and chaff so you should be able to dodge almost all missiles at its BR. And the missiles are good for easy kills but if the enemy is paying attention to you dont count on your missiles working.
The A-10 used to be the best until the map rotation started to favor larger maps and the aim-9L got nerfed
It took me 434 games in the f4s to get the whole American tech tree. My friend took 1467 games to get the American tech tree using his f5c. So if you want a good premium for having fun f5c is better.if you want to have bo life like me and get everything fast get f4s.
How did your friend perform? Number of games isn't a very reliable metric.
Honestly this seems a bit odd.
You will usually get a comparable amount of rewards in both planes.
Also was he researching rank 8 with the F5C and thus getting the massive penalty?

When did it get aim 9es? Last used it in march and it still had 9ls
None of the F-5s have ever used AIM-9Ls in war thunder
I only played five games with the F-5C and I regret purchasing it. Top tier jets is too hard for me.
I was in the same boat with you but I learned to turn without burning to much energy and keeping my speed abound .p Mach and I’ve been having a blast. The f5c taught me a lot of how to fly in top tier and I really recommend you take the time to learn and improve
I will wait to buy it cause the Next sale it will be half price and even though the price is gonna be going up for the F-5C it will still be cheaper either way when it is on sale. So now 59.99 and next patch its gonna be 69.99 so half price will be 34.98.
That's what I though, however, gaijin is unreliable when it comes to sales and it proved it with the super disappointing summer sale. So idk, but still the October/november sale should in theory be the largest sale of the year

Broken flying model for this br, does not loose speed, gains it insanely fast, good guns alot of ammo and barely taking damage for some reason, missiles suck but thats not big deal

I have both. I’ve played a5c more since I was grinding Chinese TT. It’s like flying a boaty mig19 with nice magics. Only 12 flares though…

It’s very easy to use because most people u verse are premium f 5s and phantoms so easy kills for me and I’m not past rank three in USA
Find the jab at phantom phliers mildly offensive, but then i usually opt for rear aspect sidewinders and combat flaps to get get behind top tiers, the sparrow being too unreliable for my liking. I acknowledge that makes me a minority among the wallet warriors

I see so many people using this thing in AirRB as a base bomber and what a mistake that is cause this thing can climb like a mofo and its a fighter not a strike plane or bomber and is labeled a fighter so they are just wasting a jet with massive abilities on flying straight and bombing a base. Then after they bomb a base most of the time they get dove on to and boom splash 2 back to the hangar with that wasted 60 bucks.

you're discrediting too much on missile gameplay as it's most of the time positioning that earn you kills than just chucking missile if you want to play more than the first contact of the match. but yes, f-5c does offer a higher skill ceiling for players
