I don't have too many of them, but I like that they're different than the norm. Also, I've been reading about the battle of Guadalcanal recently. I was really surprised by how heavily the Japanese used the float plane fighters and rece aircraft. Cheers!

@@jonsmodelkitreview4624 Cool Jon. I recently read Richard Frank's book on Guadalcanal. He's a wonderful historian (Vietnam veteran 101st Airborne). Also I can recommend his book Downfall - the End of the Japanese Empire. Great stuff. Look for his lectures here on UA-cam.
FYI - have you seen here The Unauthorized History of the Pacific War? Two guys are doing this series, one is a former Navy submarine captain. Kanpai! 😉

Excellent review Jon! IJN float planes are a great subject and a nice break from land based aircraft. I have a Rufe that’s needing my attention in my stash! Looking forward to that! Thanks !

Thanks, Chris! I have several display cases of completed kits. I will think about how to make a good video highlighting those. I appreciate your feedback and ideas for future builds. Cheers!

Good looking kit, you're driving me to take up more interest in Japanese aircraft :-) The cockpit details are quite nice. While plastic doesn't really have a patina, the surface clarity and smoothness helps enhance the over all model. The Japanese did seem to have quite a few variants of float planes based on the scope of their war territory. It would be interesting to see them all lined up to see the progression . Unlike Americans who seemed to stay with just a few throughout the war. Cheers till the next video.

Hello Jon, very good explanatory video about this kit, I didn't have it on my radar hahahaha, it seems like a good kit, they are one of those that can be perfect for riveting practices, Tamiya in some kits is not infallible, but they are Few details that need attention and above all, caulking work, make these kits enjoyable.
Regarding PE belts, when there are no stores on hand or shipping is very expensive for the final price, it is good to make them with materials at home, if we must take into account that they are not the typical ones with two bands over the shoulders. A small belt manufacturing course by type would be good, it could help several people to have this important component if it does not have a pilot.
Thank you for your time and in addition to your patience in taking the time to respond to each comment, we are creating a small community that helps each other with advice and suggestions for our beloved hobby.

You're welcome, Francisco! I often make seatbelts from thin plastic strips. The video that will be released on Saturday features a kit with the plastic strip belts. I'm thinking about making a video or series of videos on aircraft interiors. I appreciate your feedback and ideas for future videos. Cheers!

By coincidence I recently acquired a copy of this very kit, so it's good to know it goes together nicely.
p.s. there's a website that gives the proper pronunciation of words from all different languages, and it settled for once and all the argument on how to pronounce Tamia. It's TAM-ya!

Thanks! I will look that up. I'll probably keep mispronouncing Tamiya out of fear that if I say TAM-ya, no one will know what I'm referring to, lol!
