Hey Jon, great camo schemes on all three, I liked the grey green. I don't know why but the British camo is a tough one to pull off. I've built three 1/72 Airfix kits, those are super difficult to build. I do have several 1/48 Spitfire and a Hurricane ( Tamyia and Airfix. ) I do find many manufacturers have difficulty in scaling props and canopies. 2024 I spent a lot of time acquiring kits - moving up to 1/48. So I have a combo stash of kits from the 90's and current day releases. 2025 I've definitely got to assign more building than acquisition . I've really enjoyed your videos and learned a lot on 2024. Looking forward to more in 2025. Happy New Year and model on, Bob
Thanks for the feedback, Bob. I really appreciate it. I also bought more than I completed in 2024 😐. But, I did complete some kits and I made significant progress on many more. I'm hoping to have one final completion by the end of 2024 - it's down to the wire! Happy New Year!
Good Morning from OHIO 🌞 Having my first cup of coffee I’ve always been a fan of the SPITFIRE Mk 1 , 2 versions ( Battle of Britain ) I’ve only built 1/72 kits so far… These last 2 reviews you’ve posted are very well done… I think it really helps out a modeler make choices… And you’re getting great feedback and comments….. and I’m ENTERTAINED 😀 and INFORMED 🤔 Ordered Decals for a 1/48 Me 109E ( Battle of Britain ) Really like your Review from last weekend… Have a GREAT NEW YEAR be safe !!!!! Gidday Jon. They all certainly look great. I think that overall accuracy is far less important to a beginner than ease of assembly and getting an encouraging result. I think that painting is hardest part when you are a beginner so it helps to start with a good canvas to work on. And the early Tamiya kits are still pretty cheap in Oz (just over 30AUD/19USD). The Hasegawa kit is a rarity here and costlier. I haven't built a Spit (recently) but have Tamiya's new Mk I with Tilley, Eduard's Mk VIII and Airfix's Mk XIV in the pile'o'kits so no excuses for 2025!🤭 Thanks for the vid and all your work this year. Model On 2025! Cheers Matt 🦘🦘🦘
Thanks Matt! Tamiya's new Mk I looks amazing and the Eduard Spitfires are among my favorites. Both of those kits will make the Airfix Mk XIV feel quite crude. As one of my 2024 completions, I'll be featuring the Airfix Mk XIV in my next video. Happy New Year!
Another great comparison of my favourite planes 🤩👍 Tamiya has superb fit as far as I remember, I have built Hassegawa Spit IX and it was fine as well 😁👍
I’ve only built the Tamiya retooled kit that came out a few years ago and was very impressed. Especially with the cockpit build. Another great review vid Jon! Happy New year and model on!
Thanks Jon- A nice comparison of these of these models. I have the Tamiya Spit Mk 1 in my stash. maybe it's time to take another look at it! (Gary commented)
Thank you! I have compared the Tamiya Mk V Rotol prop to the newer Airfix Mk V Rotol prop (which is correct) and I still think the Tamiya part is too skinny looking and pointy. However, it certainly wouldn't be a deal breaker for a newer modeler. Cheers!
I'm really enjoying this unique series Jon. I hope you'll be able to do one for the Zero, ME-262, FW-190, and B-25 because they're all on my wish list 🤣🤣
Thank you! I plan on a Zero comparison soon. I need to complete a few more kits to do comparisons on the B-25 and Me 262 (though I have reviewed the HobbyBoss and Dragon 262s on this channel previously. Happy New Year!
@@jonsmodelkitreview4624 No rush! There are two model shows coming up here in metro-Atlanta in February and March so I know I'll be buying some other classic kits then too.

Yep. You really can't go wrong with either of these kits. Cheers!

Great review Jon, very helpful. Eventually I will get to my Tamiya Mk.Vb Trop, good to know I might need to source a different prop.
Thank you! Happy New Year!
I wanted to build a Malta Spitfire, and was looking for a Vb…your advice is very timely! Thanks for sharing this info.
Also, I purchased a Tamiya Mk I during covid, and when the box arrived there were TWO sets of sprues inside! How often does that happen?? Haha
Nice! I hope you have fun building the Malta Spitfire.
Score!
Another great comparison! I’m a fan of the Mk I, so I may follow your advice.
Thanks, Natale! Happy New Year!
@ happy 2025 to you too!
Nice builds😂 I have built all 3 of them, and have to agree with you. I still have a Tamiya mk1 or two hanging about waiting for me.😮
Thank you! The Tamiya is just a good, low-stress build. Happy New Year!
Great video mate! However, the prop and spinner on the Tamiya Mk Vb Trop is correct for a later Mk V. Just google some images for this variant... (y)

Awesome builds.
