Oh there are definitely some haters here and there, but you're right in that he's so overwhelmingly liked by the international baseball community. Pretty rare for a superstar athlete in any sport.

Funny how Judge said Ohtani hit 30 hrs at the break when in fact Ohtani only hit 29, BUT Judge isn't wrong because Ohtani hit 1 right after Judge said that, though not counted in regular season stat, Shohei hit his 30th hr in the All-Star Game.

The Japanese boy who was hit in the head by Ohtani's home run ball was unharmed, and the team invited him to another game, and Ohtani presented him with an autograph ball through the team. When interviewed by the media, the boy's father said, “My son is doing well. I am very grateful to the Dodgers baseball team for their prompt and heartwarming response to my son, despite the inconvenience caused by my failure to protect him”. The reason Ohtani couldn't stay to support Teoscar in the Home Run Derby because he had an appointment with his agent and had other business to attend to. Smith and Freeman because they had young children with them.

THE SHO-TIME
The AL and the NL both have marquee hitters, home run hitters. Judge for the Yankees and Ohtani for the Dodgers. About 6 weeks ago the Yanks were way ahead in their division but they're now about a game back -- they've had a dreadful 5-6 weeks. As I've said before, the baseball world, not all of it mind you, but quite a few, are itching to have a Yanks Dodgers WS with the top two hitters in MLB baseball. I would bet the ratings for that series would be right up there with the best, but maybe a peg lower given the other choices people have now and the general decline of broadcast TV.
