I was at the Anaheim stadium last year and witnessed his HR and one of his most devastating moments, which was his injury led to the surgery. A year later, the season with so much noise at the beginning in the new environment, he did 40-40 on the exact same day, today. What a revenge. I am around same age as him and also grew up in jp as a japanese american for 20+ years. I will be transferring to ucla this fall from a local cc. I have anxieties to be successful in a new environment, but I determined to crush any obstacles in front of me no matter what after watching this hr. This dude is just insane.
Shohei was and always is a good speaker. I have watched many of his interviews and documentaries and the way he approached things was always intelligent, respectful, and humble. His mindset is always towards winning. I think the only flaw he has is the he loves baseball too much and so he pushes himself too hard.

Yup, his speed is why he’s lead off. Also, being lead off hitter he’s guaranteed to get the most at bats than anyone else like tonight. If he was in the 2,3,4 spot he wouldn’t have came up and the dodgers either win or we go to extra innings and who knows how it would of ended, but I like him leading off. Dodgers have plenty of heavy hitters coming up after him to bring in runs too so it balances out.
Let's also NOT forget, that 4 of the other 5 members of that 40-40 club were confirmed Steroid users. They were also playing in the era where expansion teams came into the league and diluted the talent pool. Lots of the HR that Bond, Canseco, Soreano, and Alex Rodriguez were getting, were in smaller stadiums, with AAA and AA pitchers like Dennis Tankersly throwing to them. Those minor league pitchers that they fed off also had less control of the basepaths, making it easier to steal. IMO, Shohei's 40-40 and Acuna's 40-40 seasons are the only 2 that really count. They had to face consistent 100MPH pitching with pinpoint control and that's a whole different ball game.

He's not a proffesional interpreter by the way (he was just a dodger's staff who has studied and spoke Japanese) and he misses a lot of important details, and it happenes a lot... his Japanese is obviously not at native level. typically when his pitching is off, his hitting is excelling. he cant pitch (at least, not in actual games or scrims, but batting practice is okay id imagine) so he can mostly focus everything on his hitting. his only real issue this season has been that he chases too many pitches and strikes out cuz of them. not every hit needs to be a homerun, but he's been picking up again recently so i can absolutely see the 50/50 happening. which would very obviously make him MVP and it wouldnt even be close.

@@bertronix182 It's honestly hard to say which one is more difficult, SB's require more steps and more factors, but HR's are obviously harder to achieve than SB's straight up, and certainly two HR's in a game is harder to achieve than 2 SB's in a game. I would personally say HR's are still harder. Either way, he's well on track for both.

@@arthurau9231 RBIs are a lot (a LOT) easier to get than hr's or stolen bases, which take much more skill. you can make a sacrifice pop fly and get an rbi. you can bunt and be out, but get an rbi. theyre important, but compared to SB's or HRs theyre not as impressive or flashy.

Shohei is the best baseball player (probably one of the best athletes we've ever seen) on this planet so he deserves the best interpreter.
He's not a proffesional interpreter by the way (he was just a dodger's staff who has studied and spoke Japanese) and he misses a lot of important details, and it happenes a lot... his Japanese is obviously not at native level.
Come on Dodgers, hire the best "professional" interpreter so fans can know and understand what he has really been sayimg.

I speak both Japanese (naitive) and English (BS degree earned & lived in the states for 15 yrs. uses ENG a lot in biz.) and has been in many meetings with, from top executives to technicians at site or in the lab and did a lot of interpreter tasks, and used professional interpreters in many occasions so I've seen many pros, but this guy's level is really poor as an interpreter in any biz. situation. I heard he is a good guy but I have to fire him if he was in my company,, kind of level, unfortunately...

typically when his pitching is off, his hitting is excelling. he cant pitch (at least, not in actual games or scrims, but batting practice is okay id imagine) so he can mostly focus everything on his hitting.
his only real issue this season has been that he chases too many pitches and strikes out cuz of them. not every hit needs to be a homerun, but he's been picking up again recently so i can absolutely see the 50/50 happening. which would very obviously make him MVP and it wouldnt even be close.
