Sad thing was, the first part of the film where we're relying on Cavill and Rockwell to sell the action is solid. It's that cool, stylish, and slightly unbelievable secret agent film we all know Vaughn can do. Howard also does well playing the dumpy writer suddenly thrown into this craziness. But then comes what I call 'the vineyard twist' and the entire thing goes straight into the crapper. Even worse, since Howard did absolutely zero training to sell the idea that she is an action star, you can actively see the change in direction and camera work to utilize CGI and cover up the fact she's so bad. This really stands out because less than an hour earlier we were having some solid action scenes. And then the last third of the movie just drags and drags and drags. With Vaughn throwing several twists into the last 40 minutes it's like he has to use them all in this one sitting. With all the women you could have gone with Emily Blunt, Milla Jovovich, Charlize Theron, hell, even Sandra Bullock could have sold it better. Howard did fine when she was playing Elle, but she is not Argylle in any way, shape, or form. Before the vineyard it was looking like a 8/10 film for me and the wife. After that it immediately dropped to a 4 or 5/10. And whoever was in the costume department and decided to dress Howard in the same dress Dua Lipa was in an hour earlier didn’t do Bryce any favors.

I’ll be honest, I’ve been wanting to go to the movie theater for a while now, and was about to go this past weekend but there’s literally nothing good in theaters. So I stayed in and watched Netflix
The reason it cost 200 million is because they spend an additional 50 to 100 million on reshoots, the movie was initially shot almost 3 years ago, but it had to go through reshoots and re edits to make it as good or bad as it turned out to be.

I thought apple bought this from Universal for $200 million, if that is the case the budget was a lot less and Universal may have done ok with this film. They probably had no confidence in it so they flipped it for a small profit.
After seeing the film is it an original film or a film marketed as an original film? What shocks me most is Vaughn has always been so braggy about not wanting massive Hollywood money and he can save money and doing it for cheaper. And yet this one he just seemed to overspend so much

What if I've never seen the Kingsman movies? Will I still enjoy this movie? I haven't seen it yet and I'm debating whether or not D-BOX is worth it for this movie or not? Is it action packed or not really?
Godzilla minus one had a budget of like 10 million dollars and arguably was able to be on of the best films of the year. Idk what it is but the quality of films have dropped dramatically and it seems to not be getting any better. People will come out to see quality films. @@MaxxRemKing1 it’s definitely up there for me as well. Not even as a Godzilla movie but just film over all. It blows my mind that America can’t make as good of films with more than triple the budget minus one had

My wife who really really disliked the 2nd act of the movie said that part "redeemed" the movie for her.
Hot take here.... While Argylle is admittely a bit silly and frivolous, I had a fun time with it. In a current climate of remakes, reboots and disappointing trash, I'm gravitating towards (and more willing to accept) movies that are at least trying something fresh. It was fun
I loved the first two Kingsman movies - the first one more than the second but even the second I liked a whole lot more than most people. Chances are I'll probably like this film but I'm not risking my hard-earned money on a "probably"
In the honorable words of Coach Beard "Apple TV+ Babay"
Matthew Vaughn has lost it. And the trailer was terrible.
Lots of prolific directors hit a slump just hope he gets it back
I thought apple bought this from Universal for $200 million, if that is the case the budget was a lot less and Universal may have done ok with this film. They probably had no confidence in it so they flipped it for a small profit.
I thought it was a enjoyable ride
Me too
Same here
why is anyone surprised? who in their right mind would pay $25 to see this at the local theater big screen IMAX?
After seeing the film is it an original film or a film marketed as an original film?
What shocks me most is Vaughn has always been so braggy about not wanting massive Hollywood money and he can save money and doing it for cheaper. And yet this one he just seemed to overspend so much
I really enjoyed this movie! Yeah the last half isnt as good as the first half but I liked this way more then Kingsman 2 and 3. I am sad this flopped. The next one would have starred Henry. My hope is Apple is so rich they dont care it flops and let Vaughn make it anyway. This is only their third 200 million doller flop in a year.
I'm not sure what it is, I just have not been inspired to go to the theater over the past few years. Dune part 2 hopefully restores my faith in cinema.
Anyone remember The man from UNCLE?? Yeah even that was better than this. It makes no sense why these movies cost so much.
I loved it😊
What if I've never seen the Kingsman movies? Will I still enjoy this movie? I haven't seen it yet and I'm debating whether or not D-BOX is worth it for this movie or not? Is it action packed or not really?
the movie is great but i think you have to watch kingsmen first. All movie are great except the kingsmen 2
Ignore what the othrr guy is saying, this film is completely unrelated to Kingsman, apart from an afterthought in the post credits.
it's not about related or not I think he should watch kingsmen to understand Matthew Vaughn ridiculous direction
This movie was great😂I really liked it. Funny to hear John hating it. The beauty of film
Godzilla minus one had a budget of like 10 million dollars and arguably was able to be on of the best films of the year. Idk what it is but the quality of films have dropped dramatically and it seems to not be getting any better. People will come out to see quality films. I think it’s clear no one cares about the mega stars who star in a film
@@MaxxRemKing1 it’s definitely up there for me as well. Not even as a Godzilla movie but just film over all. It blows my mind that America can’t make as good of films with more than triple the budget minus one had
It's funny, but I thought the ice-skating scene was one of the best parts of the movie :) Of course it's not realistic, but it was funny as hell, my wife and I were howling at the theater with laughter.
Same goes for Rebel Moon and The Creator. Not life-changing pieces of art by any metric, but I'll take these experiments over the same old slush.
I had a great time with this.
Damn…. I was excited about this lol

Thank you.
