the exposition in this film blew my mind. I laughed so hard when she monologued how her mother died in child birth, at a baby shower, in a room full of women.
It felt like she was staring at the screen talking to me.
Being completely alone at my local imax theater watching this with absolutely no one else around me was a surreal experience 😂
Same here I was able to laugh out loud and talk to myself while watching it 😂
0:07 Even the camera temporarily 'dies' just by hearing the movie title. It's more than enough to discourage audience from watching it and yes, IT'S THAT BAD. 🤣
Madame Web is basically the modern day equivalent of Catwoman.

Yeah it is a rare completely terrible movie. Most bad movies have at least some redeeming qualities. This had none. There was literally nothing good about this. It should be studied in film school for how to make a terrible movie

I saw it today on my day off and boy was it terrible. Haven't seen a movie this bad in a very long time.

@@juanluismendoza8655 I actually haven't seen morbius yet. I would be surprised if it is worse than this. Rarely do you see a movie where nothing works. I'll have to check out morbius now out of curiosity
I heard a guy went crazy in the theater and did something strange he should have done in private. It must have some redeeming value.
@@majorlazor5058 that's the thing though. They had some hotties in it like Sydney Sweeney and Isabella merced, but didn't even play that up. Other than the Martha Stewart joke that was kind of funny, there wasn't any redeeming qualities
Forbes did a post on this film and so many of the comments were about Disney and not making MCU films anymore.
Isn't the fact that so many of the general audience think its an MCU film a problem for Disney? Especially as their recent films have also had stuggles.
It's bad for all comic book movies when one is this bad, its bad for Sony but it could be extra bad for Disney by proxy.

What I don't get is, remember when we heard Sony was developing a Madam Webb movie couple years ago, there was a really wild and crazy plot was reported for the movie, turns out they didn't even do that, that plot would have made this movie 100% better because that would have been crazy interesting instead of this try hard and not try hard mess.

one thing i’ll never understand is the fact that i fucking loved Morbius 😂😂😂😂 maybe it’s because i like anything vampire ? but every time somebody uses that as a bar for how bad a movie is, i’m like hmm.. maybe i should go see it.

6:50 I love how when I was in elementary school I treated safety drills (which I knew were drills) a lot more seriously than these characters treated the villain.

So ….. the bad guy gets hit by a car at the diner( … is fine afterwards) … then an ambulance from the top of the car park/building (….. is fine afterwards)…. Yet he dies from a little sign falling in him? 🤷🏼♂️😳😂😂
I watched madame web just to enjoy this review. Worth it
If Sony was smart, they wouldn't have wasted Madame Web on a lackluster solo movie, but instead used her in a proper Spider-Man movie. Imagine if Sony collaborated with Disney/Marvel studios to make Spider-Man 4 a loose adaptation of Nothing Can Stop the Juggernaut, where Madame Web is kidnapped by Juggernaut. If you wanted Madame Web to have her first cinematic debut, why not have her in movie that is based one of Spider-Man's best stories?
I HAVE TO ASK… that shot at the very end of the movie where Cassandra sees the future of them in their suits that John likes. DID ANYONE NOTICE the shot of the camera going up the building right before that was taken DIRECTLY from Spider-Man 2?!
Appreciate the spoiler review, John. At least I now know what to expect. Unfortunately, with this bucket of s***, as you called it, it currently has a Rotten Tomatoes rating lower than Morbius. Sony Pictures has outdone themselves again by releasing "more-BS" 😄

I have a genuine question. I had never heard of Sydney Sweeney prior to this movie. Is she supposed to be a big deal actress or something? I stay pretty up to date on movie and tv news but I feel like maybe some kind of way I totally missed something?
I think she’s in the tv show euphoria and everyone loved her there. I know lots of people are attracted to her so she gets a lot of hype from that

Sydney Sweeney is in the TV show Euphoria, as well as the Voyeurs and the recent romantic comedy Anyone but you. The trailer to that movie looked funny.
Euphoria is a soft porn TV series that glamorises hard drugs and addiction. Debauched and nihilistic.
aside from the venom movies this sony universe has been a failure, just release the last venom then be done with it, I don't see the kraven movie being much good either.
Ezekiel isn't a villain in the comics. It might have been better to have the Black Tarantula as main villain with the original Tarantula (same powers but a lackey version that is not as strong as Black Tarantula's) as his lackey with Ezekiel without costume helping Madame web against the Tarantula. When the Tarantula fails to slay the girls Black Tarantula kills a member of Tarantula's family causing Tarantula to help Ezekiel against the Black Tarantula. The girls could have escaped a lab of Black Tarantula and their powers could work intermittently while their bodies are changing. Black Tarantula could want the girls off so that his work couldn't be replicated. Have Madame Web coach Ezekiel and Tarantula in their fight against Black Tarantula, trap Black Tarantula in some pocket dimension so that Spider-Man can fight him in a subsequent film.

Pretty sure at that point , she has already come to terms with "Cannon events" has to be happening and shouldnt be meddled with.
Everything you said about the Peruvian tribesmen looking like Spider-Man and the movie not saying Peter Parker's name despite his birth being shown in it makes me wonder if these are the elements of a previous version of the film that was shot but that was scrapped.
I remember that one of the rumors about this movie was that it was about Madame Web and these Spider-Women trying to stop the villain, who came from the future, from assassinating Peter Parker's mother to prevent Peter Parker from being born. I actually wonder if that was the original version but for some reason they decided to scrap it. That could explain why Ben Parker and Peter Parker's mom are still in the movie and why the villain's dialogue was ADR.
In my opinion it was way worse than Morbius. Morbius at least had quite a few exciting action scenes. At least from what I remember.
As soon as you see the SONY name, you know it's going to be sh*t. Marvel is going to take a hit for this.

I think the most hilarious thing about this movie is that the random "S" ACTUALLY means something later in the film. But then the main bad guy actually dies by a "P" from the Pepsi sign. Probably the worst main villain death I have EVER seen in a film.

I mean, there are pretty and attractive people who are sweet and awkward and even suffer from social anxiety. But I agree that Sweeney Sydney could been better cast as a character like Felicia Hardy/Black Cat.

I really think this whole film was somewhat a missed opportunity not having a more middle aged woman in the lead. If you have a middle aged character whose life is possibly more behind then deal with her working partner about to be an uncle and settling down and herself has nothing. Then gets a shot at rescuing some younger characters and becoming a mother figure to them could have been a more interesting character
How did she end up in wheelchair i get she fell but in the hospital I didn’t see a back or neck brace.

Seen it V-Day with the gf. Thankfully we we seen reviews and new it was trash. So we snuck in a bottle of wine and a weed tape pen and just to have the best time with the fuckery.

I've seen student films made in high school that were better than this. As an editor, I feel embarrassed for whoever edited this thing. From the cuts to the music choices, to the sound design. Then the dialogue was atrocious. What is Sony doing? I'm scared to see Kraven.
Literally everything in this movie is wrong. Like the Britney Spears song, it hadn’t come out yet in 2003! It wasn’t released until early 2004! They didn’t even do a simple google search!

Madame Web is awful. The acting is some of the worst that I have seen in over 50 years of movie watching. At least I have 2 of my top 10 worst movies of 2024 already. This mess and Night Swim. Ugh
I didn’t think the acting was that bad personally, but holy cow the dialogue was ATROCIOUS. Like, NO ONE TALKS LIKE THAT IN REAL LIFE.
I was watching this part 15:25 at 1.75 speed with Antman's face from Endgame when Thor was telling the plot of The Dark World.
I remember Ezekiel from the Spider-man comics, and his introduction as a mysterious character with unclear intentions, is he good, is he bad, really worked for me. The overarching story was fascinating, if not a bit over the top, but to me at least Ezekiel was a interesting character that deserved to be introduced on the big screen in any other way than this... Well, here's hoping Sony leaves Morlun alone a bit longer😅

Sony is damaging its own brand. It's holding on to Spider-Man like a starving crocodile... but while they gleefully let Marvel Studios make Spider-Man movies for them, they're off in their own little meth lab, sabotaging the entire superhero genre with cheap, awful, cynical movies about characters that don't belong on the big-screen.
In my opinion, Sony Pictures needs to be shut down, re-organized, and re-branded as something else because at this point, saying you worked on a Sony Pictures film is like saying you worked at a gas station.
Haven't finished the video yet but did they explain why all 3 girls -- who all become heroes in the future -- are all on the same train car at the same time?
the Director S.J. Clarkson got a good track record with Tv, she directed episodes of Bates Motel, Succession, Vinyl (Underrated HBO show by the way), Orange is the New Black & The Defenders!
Sad that she did terrible with Madame Web.
Hopefully if she makes a follow up film, It'll be with a smaller Project like something from A24 or Neon.
I've seen Directors go from a terrible Directorial debut with a better follow up.

Being a *theatrical* film, this was new territory for her. Perhaps she just sticks with TV. The Morbius writers, however, should never work again.

It still really bothers me that Madame Web stole a Taxi cab and then literally just kept driving it around for the rest of the movie with nobody reporting it stolen. Also she was ccused of kidnapping 3 girls but was able to easily get on a plane to fly to Peru for a week
