I am sickened that the government is once again "cutting off their nose dispite their face". As Luke rightly pointed out, this tax also affects farmers who may be sitting on large capital in the form of land - but you cant eat land for supper; you cant wear land to school. These farmers must work hard to just provide necessities. And i could say the same for both of you - thank you for the work you are doing to preserve heritage, provide jobs, help balance out the ecosystems and on and on. Hopefully someone at the top will be your champion! Keep your chins up! - from a grateful American

I am in Canada. Was watching Trevor Coult on his you tube channel and he had a link to a petition to help the farmers which has well over a million signatures and is growing rapidly. You might also wish too join in if you have not already. Farming seems to be under attack in many areas and is so vital to food supply and maintaining our land. Best wishes.
Wish I could but I'm not a Brit. I am rooting for you. Your farmers are extremely vulnerable under this regime & when you support them you support your own future existence.
Non Corporate Farms are under attack in the USA also. It seems like they are trying to artificially cause a food shortage and also allow Big Corporate Agra a chance to acquire more lands. Monopoly of food is a issue.
I agree. It actually irritates me when Luke rushes Julie through what she is or wants to talk about. It is very masoginistic and it is the only fault I see in Luke but that’s a big one!

Please correct this if its wrong but as a married couple the proposed tax relief is £1000000 each ie £2000000 plus £500000 each in addition for machinery which gives a total tax exemption for capital gains tax of £3000000. A very substantial sum While appreciating that traditional estates in the UK are asset rich ( ie the value of the land) however struggle with profitability. I've been enjoying your journey and sharing life at Mapperton for a little while now and have to say that what you are (and other historic estate owners like you) attempting to do is admirable and in a lot of ways leading the country in terms of sustainability and recognizing the vast importance of it. Not only for the historical preservation, but the health and vitality if the natural environment as well. If I could (all the way from Oregon), purchase part of Mapperton with the agreement that I would continue to uphold and persevere in the same practices and with the same goals that you are all currently working so hard for, I would do it in a second! What a shame if parts had to be sold to people with incongruous and incompatible agendas.

Luke and Julie, you two are doing an amazing job at maintaining and improving Mapperton Estate. I appreciate your candor and honesty in sharing these challenges that the government put on you and other similar estates. I think we all need to have eyes wide open about the actual impact estate taxes have on families who are trying to maintain their historical homes. The government is looking for more ways to get money to fund their programs, I get it, but the assumption that everyone living in these ancestral homes/farms can afford these imposed taxes is ridiculous. I often feel that the valuations put on properties, for taxing purposes, is absurd. Hang in there. Through this UA-cam channel you are truly sharing your real experience of maintaining the property and how much you have to do to generate income to support the upkeep, all while sharing your beautiful home with the public, both in person and through this format. My🤞🏼that you can apply for/and get a grant to support your stone repair work. And I love your banter between each other. Your personalities do you credit, especially in this format. Julie-I love your blonde highlights. I just did the same thing and it makes me feel happier and younger. 😊 On this Thanksgiving morning (I am in Massachusetts, USA) I am grateful for all of the hard work you both do and that you are willing to share it with us on social media.
Yes, Julie you look so good with blond highlights…in fact go for it as total blonde it suits you…love, love your channels… you are so good at what you do
First of all, Julie I love your hair. But most importantly, I am really heartbroken for both of you (particularly you, Luke , who have been working behind the scenes so very hard to preserve your family’s legacy and Englands heritage in such an environmentally sensitive way. How can we help?????
From Australia. I am a long time follower and old age pensioner. I wish I could help more. The only thing I can think of is transcribing old fashioned script (writing). If ever in need in this area, again,as in Alva's script etc. Please ask. I have lived and worked in England and am an Anglophile. You two should get an OBE or something plus a couple of heritage type grants methinks. Do you have any dogs or cats that are pets? Cheers.😊❤
I've been to England twice from America and I spent a lot of my time and money visiting Historical Homes and Estates. The Government is ridiculous to threaten that. They already have a large inheritance tax from what I understand. I don't know when I will visit again, but Mapperton is definitely on my list. ❤❤❤

On this Thanksgiving morning (I am in Massachusetts, USA) I am grateful for all of the hard work you both do and that you are willing to share it with us on social media.
Love watching “spill the tea,” thank you! and learning more about Mapperton. Happy Thanksgiving 🍁🍽 ♥️🧡💛
Look at what people have been doing with shipping cargo boxes. They can be moved or resold if the idea doesn't work out as expected. Terrific ideas!
I love your highlights Julie , suits you so much 😊
Yes, Julie you look so good with blond highlights…in fact go for it as total blonde it suits you…love, love your channels… you are so good at what you do
Julie, Dishwasher blond always looks better with highlights and/or lightening all of your hair. But it's your hair-you do you. Happy Thanksgiving!🦃
First of all, Julie I love your hair.
But most importantly, I am really heartbroken for both of you (particularly you, Luke , who have been working behind the scenes so very hard to preserve your family’s legacy and Englands heritage in such an environmentally sensitive way.
How can we help?????
Yes I’ve been hoping you would go back to the blonde- you look brighter - refreshed
Cheers.😊❤
I love your hair! How you have it styled is very attractive. It's higher.❤️ 😊
Your highlights look great Julie
I've been to England twice from America and I spent a lot of my time and money visiting Historical Homes and Estates. The Government is ridiculous to threaten that. They already have a large inheritance tax from what I understand. I don't know when I will visit again, but Mapperton is definitely on my list. ❤❤❤
Julie, you look fantastic and what is important is what you think about your look. I think you’re brilliant and I so enjoy learning from you and Luke, thank you!
Blessings always,
