Spell stealing normal spells is super fun. Marci Dispose from the other side of the world is hilarious. Throwing Alch concoctions from the shadows from far away. Huge Shaker Fissures. Rubick flashy plays is cool but having a plethora of options depending on lineups is my favorite part of the hero. The shard and aghs changes have made him even more complex, but that's part of the fun too I think.
Any tips on how to lane vs Rubick as Melee support? I like to play Omni and Ogre this Patch on pos5. But I feel I really struggle at times to deal with a good Rubick player. Specifically, if he starts with movement speed, it feels really hard to deal with him, as he just does tons of damage - unless I catch him out of position, he will outtrade me due to lift + movement speed advantage. I'm at around 4k MMR if that matters. So generally, I try to just get some extra reg for the lane, and keep him busy with my CDs, and try to soak up his mana/reg/spells. PS: Really love your videos - I think it could be really cool addition, if you also include in your Hero Spotlight how to play/lane against the heroes you present. What do you guys think about a 'how to play against' section?
If you play as Ogre, just run at him, use ignite and just right click him. Do whatever you can to keep him busy so he's not hitting your carry. Sometimes you get a weak lane match up and you have to play defensively. This is why I prefer healer supports like Treant, Abadon, Omni, Warlock and even Dazzle. Your job is just to make sure your carry has at least a decent laning stage.
Your approach sounds about right to be honest. If he had to get boots, he's not going to hit as hard so that's good for you. You want to try to camp around trees and sneak up on him that way. If he starts playing in the lane, you can try two things. You will sometimes just have to run in to get them to focus you a bit instead of your carry (this is where your extra regen will come into play). Good times to do this are when creeps are getting low so that the enemy wants to focus on last hits instead of you (or your carry gets to secure some last hits). Another thing to do is try to do pulls. Rubick would have a harder time contesting because he's further into the trees. If you don't actually want to pull, you can just pretend to do so but actually hide behind a tree. When he comes over to check, that's when you can get a better trade on him. A couple people have been asking for these laning tips! I'm trying to keep this particular series shorter (it's already a lot longer than originally planned lol). So I'm thinking about separate videos for laning advice on these heroes
You made me realize that at lvl6 u can actually throw back a total of 3 spells (steal one and wait for CD to go off), 2*lvl1 and 1*lvl2 or even an ultimate
Hey ZQuixotix, I think it's quite presumptive of you to refer to all of your viewers as friends. I do not know you at all as we have never met I just watch your videos. It's not necessarily that I wouldn't want to be your friend but rather I find it quite upsetting that you would force this classification of companionship on to me without my consent. I hope you take this feedback on board.
My apologies acquaintance! I shall strive to maintain a proper social distance until such a time as we might be able to move beyond formal etiquette and use more casual yet endearing terms.

Frankly often I prefer stealing some high impact basic spell over a lot of ults. Allows for a lot of active and fun plays.
Instant WR powershots across 2 screens worth of AEO always brings me joy
My most played hero in the game. Gotta love Rubick
