In the time it took to edit this video I have since finished playing the sequel, just in case you were wondering how well the momentum I talked about was keeping up.

As someone that loves the Ace Attorney, Zero Escape, Professor Layton series, and Somnium Files, I was pretty excited to finally play Danganronpa after hearing so much about it, but was kinda disappointed.
The story and characters are pretty interesting, but I hate pretty much every aspect of the gameplay. It just feels like a bunch of unnecessary mini games just getting in way of the story. I wish it was just a normal visual novel. It’s pretty frustrating to already know the answer to a logic thread but having to deal with rhythm games, lazy shooters and finding out an annoying missing word just to progress a story.

    9:28 That is fixed.
Also, since the patches, the game doesn't chug as much anymore. Was able to finish it.

Personally I think this is the best game in the series (though obviously the Switch-port is not the ideal way to play it). Sure, the gameplay of the sequels is definitely better, as is the writing at times, but from a story-perspective I think DR1 has such a good flow to it, each case has a significant purpose to the story, and the dynamic between the characters is so much better here than in the other games. It helps that the mysteries themselves are much more believable than the far-fetched "Mouse Trap" murders of later entries.

What’s wrong with the Switch port?

Damn I pre ordered this and had no idea it was a copy and paste of a poor mobile port.
If it's gone this far I have no hope for a patch to fix this

@@gypsy52 Personally I prefer the Vita, but that's also the console I first played it on, so maybe I'm a little biased.

There’s a pretty nasty bug that prevents any text to appear after a “%”. For a visual novel that’s pretty bad and they yet to patch it.

Are you planning on doing reviews of Goodbye Despair, V3, and Ultimate Summer Camp?
I bought the Decadence Collection and the first game being the only one I've played before I'm kinda blitzing through it to get to the sequels. Wondering if they suffer the same porting issues.

We'll have a review of Goodbye Despair up soon (within the next day or so). We also currently have a review of Ultimate Summer Camp on our website: www.nintendoworldreport.com/review/59066/danganronpa-s-ultimate-summer-camp-switch-review
Unfortunately a review of V3 will take a bit longer.

for some reason i cant find the decadance collection in the EU eshop. only the games individually

    • @NinWRTV
      @NinWRTV  2 роки тому +1

Unfortunately the full Decadence collection is only available as a physical release. Unless you strongly prefer a digital copy, I recommend getting the physical version of Decadence since it is cheaper even if you only get three of the four games (based on US pricing at least).

Which reveal was easy to figure out for the end? I beat the game but I feel like I was only able to guess the first case.

Yeah, I kinda didn't get it too. The 16th student? The twins mystery? The identity of the mastermind? The amnesia twist? The apocalypse on the outside?

@@luxandfero I think he's talking about the amnesia and mostly apocalypse. They are not subtle with it at all.

The mobile isn’t that sloppy btw. It’s probably one of the best video game ports to mobile.
