Doug, we love your channel. Don't change anything about it! I enjoyed the first one better because I could make one my self with the detail that it had! 💝
Oh my gosh. I just watched your video from July 2017, when you tested off grid living. Wow, how far you all have come in such a short time. Many amazing blessings. Honestly, it's a joy to be able to witness your family's journey. Thanks for sharing it.
I like the first one better because it shows how you made it better you are doing great videos can't wait for next video God bless your family keep up the good work 😀
Its the old saying doug , you can please some of the people some of the time , but you cant please all of the people all of the time . ie , middle ground . Keep going guys your doing fine .
Ingenious temporary and portable solution......Voila!! GREAT JOB. Y'all are doing a fine job on the bedroom restore. Making it work with what you have. Love it. Ken Orlando, Fl
I was looking to make the same for the same purpose (buffing the sides of my sailboat). How high and how much span do you reckon this design could manage? I need to get about 3 - 4 ft off the ground...
@@thebarold okay, so the dimensions of mine are 3’x1’x2’. It turned out okay and I was able to buff my boat successfully over the winter, however if I was to do it again I would go wider. It did become a tad wobbly at times. I’m a younger guy so I didn’t worry about it too much but times when my Dad came out to help, I did get worried for the old man lol. Looking at it now, it’s more of a bench to be honest than scaffold.
Thanks@@Spacesprocketz! I not as young but your point about it being wider (assume you meant the width of the platform which is 12" (and the span of your platform is 3 feet?) My boat is 34' long so it will be a balance between the span being wide enough that I don't have to constantly move the setup and the stability. I did think about angling the legs outward slightly to help with the forward and backward stability (if I am pressing on the hull to polish)... I need this for the spring so I have all winter to figure it out...
@@thebarold I wish I made it that big to start out with, it definitely was a lot of moving around the hill. I have a 270 Sundancer so my boat is under 30’. The scaffold I framed out was only 3 feet long, 1 foot wide and 2 feet tall. You definitely would probably need yours taller and wider, the angling of legs is ingenious and would help a lot! After talking to you, I think I’m going to redo mine this winter for the Spring lol.
Very cool, thanks for this video! I may make a few of these to keep in my shed, then when we have gatherings in the back yard, I can break these out. :) ...and still use them when I need to work on my ceiling!
Excellent video! That is exactly what I need. I’ve already cut all my pieces and will finish it tomorrow. I’m painting my basement walls and ceiling. This bench will save me a lot of time cutting in the corners and masking everything. Thanks a lot. I knew there must be some easy way to build a small collapsible bench And this is perfect for 8’ ceilings. Upstairs is next but the ceilings are 9’. May have to build a taller one but might need more support.?
Put a stretcher board on the very bottom to keep both those legs all the way apart. If you shift your weight rapidly by walking towards one end you could easily fall if the bottom legs aren’t in a locked out position
God love you, you do SOOO much, many of it learning as you go. It would be my fervent wish that you would build workbenches in one of your outbuildings so you can put you miter saw up, and is that a table saw I see? I’m only thinking to save your back and knees NOW while your young and not be sorry later on if you develop issues with either. Oh, and those ROCKS ... Please oh Please invest in a back brace, because from what I’ve seen you do, I’m sure we’ll be seeing you try to lift those boulders come nice weather. ❤️❤️❤️
We got a lot of thumb-downs on the longer version and one commentator let us know that it was a bit boring. So I decided to make a condensed version for those people who didn't want to sit through the long one.
@@diyfferent .the longer version was NOT boring..it was a learning experience for me..recycling boards for a greater use..being resourceful, working smarter not harder,, not one boring thing about it.Dont allow negative comments to influence you to change how you video..you do you..💙..
I understood the concept, but only saw it towards the end. First I've seen with that type of leverage as a seat / work bench / saw-horse / walk plank / stool.
Okay I'm going to gently shake my finger at you Doug. When you're using your Mitre saw (I think that's what they're called), you really should have it sitting level so it's not wobbling. Maybe build a couple of saw horses and put a sheet of plywood down on top of them so you can at least work standing up and on a more level surface. Does that make sense? I still love you guys...
I'm use to working in less than ideal conditions so it was pretty normal for me ;) Hey, that work platform turned out to be a handy sawhorse for me today, who knew.
I didn’t say it, but I had thought the first video was awfully long. I know how to skip ahead and change the playback speed so it’s no big deal but I appreciate the short version:)
It's actually quite the opposite. This took me less time to build than driving to the store, saved me money, and it's much more flexible and easier to move around than a ladder. I've always found ladders to be quite restricting when working on homes and this work platform makes everything easier.
No wonder you’re a successful homesteader. Great work.
Doug, we love your channel. Don't change anything about it! I enjoyed the first one better because I could make one my self with the detail that it had! 💝
Hey I’m all in for 2 vids in one day. The first really taught me how to do it cause “ive got no skills” but both were gr8 to see. Ty.
Thank you for accommodating those who wanted less. The first one was great for me.

You are SO creative. Great Job Doug!! :)
You have quite the DIY mind, Doug. So clever and so frugal. Great job!
Their channel is far more interesting than half of the stuff on HGTV...
i liked both videos :-) you guys could make a vid that's an hour and a half long and i'd watch it lol
We really appreciate that.

Both get a thumbs up👍 liked the details of #1 just so I make one for for myself.
That's some Roy Underhill magic right there.. LOVE IT!!!
haha, thanks!
Good call! Watching The Woodwright's Shop was great fun and very educational.

🎼 Love the music, now it's perfect 🎶
That's awesome you have the knowledge.
Im a contractor I keep searching how to make a sturdy and simple scaffolding, now I found it. Big thanks bro!!!
I watched the video this morning. They are both great.

Lol i watched both video's and my mouth dropped open both times!! Lol this is such a great idea!
Thanks for taking the time :)
Absolutely loved this video and the make do attitude! Great work.
Inspire for sure! Thanks for the video
Looks great! Much better than a latter! 👍🦊
Thanks much for this video. Thanks to you, I built a longer, wider, sturdier platform than I could buy locally and at half the price.
Great job Doug!! I am enjoying your videos so much, watching your house come together.. Wishing you, Ashley and kids a great weekend:)
Oh, good! Thought I was seeing double! ;) This is an awesome project, short or long version. Thanks.
I love it. Simple and straight to the point. Thanks
Thanks! I need to build something like this to buff my boat that stored on blocks for the winter, this setup is perfect!

I will give you the exact dimensions of what I did, I saw your comment yesterday but forgot to measure it. It's in the back of my garage.@@thebarold

Short, quick, handy. Great deal.
Just started following and I LOVE it. A close family not afraid work to achieve. Greetings from York uk.
Would look really nice sanded & stained with a piece of glass on top of it as a table. Also I notice the floors looking nice.
Great little bench! Good job
Nice design. Looks easy.
Sweet. Leverage. Clever design.
Just the simple kind of design I was looking for. Thanks bud. 👍🏼 😀

Thank you! Smart design.
That was a great idea
Pretty smart idea!
Excellent! Many thanks for sharing 👍🏼
Nice work! Easy set up/ tear down, I know what you mean. Great concept!
Great! Am sharing this!
Always a good idea to keep it loose 😉
It also serves as a bench to sit on, or a sideboard, a small table or tall table, depending on the height of the legs.
Wonderful! This is exactly what I was looking for.
Nice work!👏🏻
Total awesome!!!
Yep! It makes sense!
i watched the other one and it was good but this one is good too
Thank you for watching both :) I just wanted to make a short and sweet version for those who like it that way.
@@diyfferent mow that im done binge watching all of the i cant miss one lol

That looks like it will operate like a sawhorse but gives you a wide space for your feet.
Nice! You are amazing!
15 people disliked bc they didn't think of it first??! I mean, really..
Well that was brilliant
Nice job
A new invention. Patient it.

🤘🙂💪👍👌🚜
Looks like itd be a tad tall for screwing up the drywall but a 2x4 screwd on would give you another position 3.5" lower keeping both heights for use
I love this
Wife approved!
nifty idea
I noticed you were able to fix it so you had a lower side and a taller side for the highest part of the ceiling jousts.
That's u and Ashley have a depth free home.

Just saw another Out in the Country and it’s a Music page in Australia 🇦🇺 lol
cool
People ARE going to ask you make this for them...possible side income?
👍👍😁
Hmmm..Dejavu
❤️
Did you make a second bench?
No, just a shorter and more to the point video. The first one was a bit long winded.

Why are you working on the ground ?
Why don't you just buy a stepladder? It's not like you're never going to use it again! Sure would be a lot easier to move and more flexibility.
