The first time I properly recognised when I was overdriving and fixed it, I won my first heat, coming 2nd for heats 2 and 3. In the final I got nervous and overdid it, and had to settle for 3rd to average me to 2nd. It's one of the most important things to learn for sure.
I'm over here laughing because it feels like your answering questions I needed answers to but didn't ask. I am definitely over driving when I thought I was going to slow. The accordion effect 100% me
Thank you so much! I did some indoor karting recently which sparked starting into iRacing. I dusted off my old T500RS and went to town. Over driving…yes, that’s exactly what I’m doing most of the time and it spirals out of control, very self defeating. As a total noob it feels like a total miracle to figure out a track only to try and take that speed to a new circuit which leads to spinning off at every corner…loved the detail and calmness of your explanations, it resonated perfectly. Mental note: do not try to pare back time from absolute chaos, muy importante!😂
This is invaluable advice - it always sounds so simple, but so hard to convey to the driver. The same as adapting to different track conditions and following the rubber. Slow is fast, fast is slow ;)
On this channel i found sticking to my passes, and just sending it, is good thing i learned , aswell this is a great topic for a video! This is what makes me slower, over driving! i get too heated. I'm learning race theory, and not just driving wins races . i have too keep my cool and not battle. Slowing down and just sticking with them till the end as cleanly as possible is the best! i can't wait to try out my new knowledge at my next local enduro race at the Houston karting complex here in Texas thanks
I was there racing with you last week and its crazy how fast and consistent you are. Still got a lot to learn from it since ive only just started x30. See you in skusa, its gonna be fun for sure!
Man im going to have to play this video before every session lol Fighting the kart is what I feel over and over again. Awesome explanations and being that im local at AMR helps out a bunch! Thanks a million!
Thanks Ryan for all of this, it has really given me the speed of more experienced drivers on the track. This is defiantly very important information as I am starting my rookie season in a KA-3 junior in a kart republic kart for the karting Australia with amazing coaches and mechanics this is almost like a tutor. Keep up the great work.
Eye opening, helps me understand why I had issues on the weekend in turn 1, I was trying too hard and over driving that one corner, my weakest corner on the track.
Ryan. Thank you for making this video. Even though I do indoor karting, I going to use every word you said to get better. I'm going indoor karting for my birthday next week. So thank you.
Lovely video Ryan, really helps! Just one fast question, apart from exercising and simulator, what other things can a driver do when it's not track day to develop skills?
A recommendation I've got is to do other activities that are high pressure or competitive. Not necessarily sim-racing, but something you care about and want to win at. That helped me train for high pressure situations like leading races
Hey Ryan, Thank you for all your helpful videos. You give us very useful tips to improve ourselfs in karting. I wish you the best of luck this season! Btw. You‘re chanell has made me a lot faster and better in karting.
Great advice! Question is how to implement that on the track?? Being an amateur I always have a feeling that I’m to slow in comparison to most of the real “racers”… So, I’m 2-3sec off the pro drivers time and I find out that overdriving is obviously one of my problems. Biggest difference to pro”s is as you described, I’m close on the braking (and then I’m fighting the cart during the corners) while they are making big gap on the exit... So, I should brake earlier , enter the corners with less speed, and accelerate faster?? Being slower should make me a faster driver in total… Must reset my mind and references to do so. Might not be so easy! Any advice how to do that in real? Any “exercise” for practicing that?? Thanks.
I think your problem is that you are probably not pressing the brake hard enough. You probably brake earlier than your competition already but by the apex you are faster (overdriving). Just get more comfortable using the brake more efficiently. Hit them harder
He Ryan, for the last month I’ve been half a second off my best time, and I think that I’m driving better please does this happen to you or do you know how I can get back on the pace.
Great video Ryan. Definetively helpful. Question.. would you advise to try some chassis tuning to correct the “kicking out” out before backing up the braking point?
hey bro I'm currently living in Shanghai China. I can't use my bank card from bank home to pay for blayze does blayze accept Union Pay cards I can't find anything on there website
Hi Ryan, very logical explanations. Pretty sure I’m overdriving many times (I make all the mistakes you mentioned), but how to know by “how much” to ease on the late braking so that you don’t get into underdriving? I know that’s the “million dollar question” for finding the limit between grip and speed, but what’s the most efficient way to get there? Looking for those last 2-3 tens in a 23 second lap layout, that will put me close to poles. Thanks!
will that explained it, every time i go go-karting after a 10min session of quail laps i dont have the power to get out of the kart, i thought im out of shape because i im really am. Also i have a question i weight about 97-100kg and 193cm, Dose it effect my lap time?.
I know 2 stroke karting is far more popular but what constitutes overdriving in 4 stroke karting is a bit different. The proper technique is similar but not the same. There are subtleties that make addressing overdriving in 4 stroke different.
It's actually pretty simple. Goal is to keep the front wheels pointed in a straight line as much as possible. Sliding, constant corrections, etc. are what slow you down. Also, learning how to get away with cheating is important at the National level, if you want to run up front. But, all the dudes that do run up front, including this guy will tell you they don't cheat.

Wow that’s awesome! It takes a lot of maturity to realize mistakes
You've got the best racing advice hands down, just wish I could've found some of this info much earlier. Thanks for the great videos!
Thanks so much! I wish I had someone doing this early in my career too

Thanks for the specific advice :)
Thats great to hear. Racing is all about recognizing your mistakes and fixing them
It’s always a great day when Ryan Posts a Vid! 🐐😁🏎
Thanks For all the tips!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you. Got PP of club race but still the first pp in my Rotax karting career . Need to learn more from this channel.
Great job! Hoping I can help you more in the future
Superior karting channel. I definitely suffer from overdriving and will pay special attention to this at tomorrow's practice!
I wish I could have found this sooner. Thank you Ryan!
Great thing is driving behind others. They should show you the best line and you will practise race conditions

Glad I could help. It’s good to learn ways to see mistakes on track

by far the best advice I've seen on youtube! looking forward to work with your insights.
Lovely video Ryan, really helps! Just one fast question, apart from exercising and simulator, what other things can a driver do when it's not track day to develop skills?
Watch GoPro video on UA-cam. Try and pick up different characteristics of other drivers.
Thanks!

Thank you!! Ive been struggling with my sim racing and blowing past the apex by braking too late. This helped a lot.
Nice! Like I said, everyone struggles with this
great tips - some vid to illustrate the point would add a new dimension
Always helpful. Very thankful for all your tips and tricks. easy to understand that's what I need
On point with the information, as always !
Thank you!
Idk if it makes me faster. My Season didin't start yet. I'm taking your tips to be faster soon
First time you popped up in my feed in quite some time.
How’s the bidet?
Love it Ryan, can’t wait to use these techniques on track and do good for my first national race at Orlando, USPKS. Have a great day Ryan!
Goodluck! See you there

This is my biggest problem of all. Trying too hard to prove to myself I can drive.
Do you offer coaching for sim racing, please?
Slow karts breed over driving but smart drivers take them and score a great time !
Your advice definitely works for me mate
Always happy to help

Haven't gotten to put the tutorials to use, yet. But, right away I can see that there's time to be gained by following Ryan's words
Appreciate it! Hoping to help
Hey man. Any recommendations for really good gloves?
So good Ryan! Thanks
Hi
Can you make a video that explains defending your position in a fair way?
Thanks!
Good idea
btw how do i know that i am turning in too early?
I always thought I am late breaking but know I know I am overdriving
He Ryan, for the last month I’ve been half a second off my best time, and I think that I’m driving better please does this happen to you or do you know how I can get back on the pace.
It can really depend on track condition. Sometimes no matter how good you drive the track isn’t in the best condition to go fast.
@@NorbergNation But my colleagues are matching their best lap time and sometimes improving.
Great video Ryan. Definetively helpful. Question.. would you advise to try some chassis tuning to correct the “kicking out” out before backing up the braking point?
Yes but the first thing you should try on track is to fix your driving. If that doesn’t help then change the kart
@@NorbergNation thanks man! Much appreciated
Thanks for the info !! Ryan how do u know if say a rear slide is overdrive or wrong chassis setup ??
You should try and change your driving first while on track. If the problem doesn’t go away then it’s the kart that’s the issue.
Great topic
hey bro I'm currently living in Shanghai China. I can't use my bank card from bank home to pay for blayze does blayze accept Union Pay cards I can't find anything on there website
That would be a question to ask the Blayze crew. I am not sure
I’m on the second year of a rental kart league I do and now I’ve stopped overdriving I’m going a lot quicker. Last race I came 2nd
Thats awesome! So happy to help!
Great information
Yes
can you please make a video on wet weather karting?
Soon

Thank Kart Chaser for it
yes
do you think you will post skusa onboard?
Most likely

Slow down until they go away. If you realize that this is too slow, that’s when you should adjust your kart.
@@NorbergNation makes sense, thank you Ryan
will that explained it,
every time i go go-karting after a 10min session of quail laps i dont have the power to get out of the kart,
i thought im out of shape because i im really am.
Also i have a question i weight about 97-100kg and 193cm, Dose it effect my lap time?.
It can. If you are quite a bit over the minimum weight requirement for your class it will make you slower
@@NorbergNation what about my height?
@@Saad-yk8qp it can too. But as long as you sit straight in the kart you should have to worry too much
@@NorbergNation i lean with the turns, if i will turn right i will lean to the right
@@Saad-yk8qp The best way is to sit up straight.
I know 2 stroke karting is far more popular but what constitutes overdriving in 4 stroke karting is a bit different. The proper technique is similar but not the same. There are subtleties that make addressing overdriving in 4 stroke different.
Missing apexes and braking zones because you are going too deep is almost always the sign of overdriving. Poor exits as well
practice what u preach gumby
how do you maintain high rpm coming out of a hairpin?
Roll a lot of speed. Just keep the kart from sliding
This is so helpful, thanks
Nice! Happy to help!
I'll see you on blayze
See you there!
Do you never race in WSK? Or in general in Europe karting?
I have race in Europe in the past but it’s hard right now with Covid and to find time outside of my commitments in the US
Im a beginer, Never know the right break point. Its the hardest part
Over driving causes spins and hard crashes at high speed it can be ...
first and also love the vids :)

you have to push the limits, not exceed them
