  • 7Artisans 4 mm FischEye, i.e. fisheye lens in direct comparison to 7Artisans 7.5 mm. I test both lenses on APS-C (with SONY A6700) and full-frame (with SONY A7 iv). Are they the best fisheye lenses?
The 4 mm (amzn.to/3Mc5CFl), as well as the 7.5mm (amzn.to/3Qsl02P) lens from 7Artisans was made available to me for testing, free of charge, for a limited period of time. i was wondering if you had any idea how one would achieve putting on a diffusion filter such as pro mist (or even a homemade one) if there is no filter thread?

I don't know how your DIY diffusion filter is built. But if a 1/4 20 Camera mount is integrated, you could fix it this way in front of the camera using a Dual DSLR Flash Camera Bracket and simply wrap some cloth around. But the Filter should be quite large due to the extreme wide angle of the optics In order not to interfere with the frame of the resulting images themselves. (might only function with the 7.5mm, if ever) Please keep me updated in case you manage to build such magic ...

hey i figued it out.. i remember some ultra wide lens had a screw on filter on the BACK of the lens. So for protruding lens i would probably attach a small blurry transparent film to the back element of lens (bw sensor and lens) so i can diffuse highlights with it. i don't know how exactly it's gonna work but that would be my only workaround. the diy is made by spraying a uv filter with hairspray OR using vaseline on filter (but it is much more stronger effect that i don't personally like so i prefer hairspray). last ones is using pantyhose on front element again.

im not a pro but i think the 4mm should be good for s35 as well?
(I love the Trip like Peephole effect, the 7,5 is to big for my case i think)

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean with: S35? I am almost sure you don't mean the Sony SLT-A35 ...

@@dopexmc7901 OK, well, since there is an option available to adapt the ursa12k to EF-mount, one might be able to screw on the EF-mount version of the 7artisans 4mm right away. Also I understand your point regarding the trippy aspect of the very lens itself. Still, to screw it on an ursa12k might even be more experimental compared to me screwing it on the A7 iv (which in fact, for this very purpose, I had to run in super35 mm mode) This is because I have the impression, that the resolution of this very affordable lens does not really, let's say, deserve to be mounted in front of the 12K-resolution-Super-35-mm-sensor of such a highly professional movie camera. Another example would be me screwing the GIZMON WTULENS 17mm f16 lens in front of my a7iv 😜Also, since the dimensions of this camera are quite impressive I think the form factor of this lens might not matter too much. Nonetheless, if you ever decide to build that beast, I would love to see a photo of it or even better: a video. Please keep me up to date! 🫡❗👍

@@S-LAB The 7Artisans is actually a really good lens, for my goals it seems to be necessary that the lens is 3.5 - 4mm. but yea its really cheap^^
With 7mm and higher the image becomes too large.
Unfortunately, I can't use the lens because the Ursa can only handle the normal EF (EOS) lenses, but the 7Artisan is an EOS-M.
(Same for Laowa 4mm and Meike 3,5mm)
I'm really not a professional when it comes to fisheyes, but I can imagine that an FF lens might even look quite good on the Super35.
Since almost no 4mm lens will fit, and the Entaniya HAL250 (which looks like the lens from 2001: Space odyssey or whatever that was) is way too expensive, I have to use a Sigma 4.5mm lens (it has the EF Mount)
However, I'm looking into ways to change the angle of view from 180 degrees to 200 to 220 degrees.
Because for the most surrealistic effect I probably need an angle of 200-250 degrees.
I'll be happy to let you know when I've achieved something

@@dopexmc7901 I would really love to hear and see what comes out! By the way at the time I'm working a lot with insta360 cameras and you know what? The X4 is already melting everything together right from the beginning but if you use the elderly model the X3 - once you film in 360°-Mode, the camera is going to produce to said video streams, witch, to my mind, should have more than 180° because how else would they be able to stitch those views together? So from this point of view you could try to film 360° and use only one video stream generated by the camera...
