Probably Maxon paid for this video.

Don't look at this kind of comparison. You have to adjust samples first. Default samples rate in octane is 16.000 which you never use actually. Already 1000-2000 samples is actually enough in most cases. The power of octane is that actually by 50 samples you have a nice overwiev of what is going on in the scene, so you can render fast preview in seconds.

You can do exactly the same thing in Redshift, rather than Bucket Render, you can set progressive render and choose like 16 samples and see what is going on easily

To be more fairly, maybe next time you could show us the details of the Render Settings of both engines, and try to make the results a little bit noisy, not that perfectly clear, but on the same noise level.and then make the comparation.(maybe turn off the De-Noise function for each enging).
because according to the scene sets shown in the video, I dont understand why each scene took that long time to render, they seem so simple, and you have rtx 3090...X4... so if the sample numbers were way too high in every scene, the render time was meaningless for production, so as the compare result.

This render test is a joke, why the render took so long for each one? clearly you don´t know how to use both render engine, you just installed the plugin and press render. I'm a experience user for both engine, and Octane is so much faster than Redshift for scenes so simple like this, Redshift could beat Octane only for SSS material.
This test is no more than 10 minutes average.

I feel this 1000%. Like Beeple, I do everydays too and it's made me so much better (slowly tho' lol)... I've been on the Octane train for quite some time and feel like it's time to step it up and learn, master Redshift. Which render engine do you like more? Just curious.

this comparison is a joke.. octane is really fast but cant handle volumetrics that good

As someone who started in the industry as a gaffer, it makes more sense to me using octane (unbiased) than redshift since the ability to have lights just work how they do in the real world makes things so much faster and I understand it like the back of my hand.

Also never for get that post processing and compositing can do you all the difference in video.

It seems octane has better contrast, but that can be fixed in post.

Octane was double the render time? That's all I need to know.

With standard settings. With dialed in settings, it's usually 20% faster than Redshift

If you're lazy get Octane, if you are a perfectionist use Redshift.
Octane looks more exact because it gets unbiased lighting. Redshift lets you define the lighting. If you are getting better results in Octane it could be due to lack of knowledge in Redshift. Redshift is harder to learn. Octane gets me better results in macro "beeple style scenes" Redshift gets me better results on micro, camera focused tabletop scenes. Then again I am biased, the engines are not, sometimes: ahhh word pun hehehe...

I like the way your brain works lol... im at a weird crossroads because I'm "aeight" w/ Octane because like Beeple I do everydays as well, but my wife is really killing it w/ Redshift in her own commercial works and the rest of the world... so i kinda feel the insane peer pressure to just go ahead, learn and master Redshift.

the worst comparison ever, sorry. The person who did this clearly has little knowledge of both engines.

not sure both engine setting is same. If it dose, redshift is time-saving.

Seems to me like the render settings have been left untouched. As #Octane settings are way to high (16.000 samples) by default, but realistically you only use about 1000 samples depending on the scene ... so 16x less samples ;)
