The stolen hard drives are actually a hot topic in the Lost Media community. I haven't watched the movie, but I would watch the "original" versión if it ever is found out.
@@ItWasAShtShow thing is, it was never stolen (the hard drives, I mean). In fact, the assets and final animation stuff were deliberately wiped by the director. An animator for the movie discussed it online a few years ago.
Well there is one out right now. It's called ROTTEN: Behind the foodfight. It was done by the youtube channel Ok so... I suggest you check it out. The story behind why this movie came out the way did is insane.
Literally as soon as you said the hardrives were “stolen” immediately I said insurance fraud. Hollywood is wierd man, people do this and still get work…boggle the mind. Great episode as always.
That we got to the last 90-seconds of the ep before the guest mentions perhaps his most relevant qualification regarding the movie and how it was made is WILD. Thanks for the giggles, "Greasy Dick Weasel" will be living in my head for a few days.
When this became available on PPV, I paid the $6 (Canadian dollars) to watch it! With the Wikipedia box office topping out at just over $73,000, I’m glad to know that I was actually a significant portion of the box office take. There probably won’t be another movie that I’ll be able to say that about.
I still remember the JonTron video of this from like a decade ago. I hope Ian tells us how much time went between the actors recording their dialogue and when the movie actually came out/was viewable by the public. Those people had to have forgotten they did the recordings.
This movie is/was SUPER popular in the cartoon review community so a 12 year old knowing about it doesn't surprise me. It's just one of those notorious movies that everyone loves to trash with how over the top bad it was AND had a decent budget with big name actors.
Conspiracy theory: the footage was stolen by time travellers who tried to prevent this awful movie from ever existing. But they didn’t stop Judgment Day… they only postponed it.

Yes! I was waiting for you to do this one! Also, I was really hoping you'd mention something that I saw in it - some people have said they see it too, others watch the scene and can't see it at all -when the brand x antagonist is doing a striptease for dex in her schoolgirl outfit ( I don't know if this is bad animation or a joke someone put in), but there's a crotch-shot of dex, and it looks like his boy gets stiff down his trouser leg. It sounds insane but given the extent of the other sexualized stuff (like that very scene), it doesn't surprise me if it was intended.
I think I know the shot you’re referring to, but I think what they are “attempting” to imply is that she makes his knees weak. So there is a close up of his pants and there is some weird wiggling.

"Here's a list of every brand Kasanov has mentioned in the press directly, but were obviously cut." "TROJAN!" I mean...I wouldn't be shocked though considering the final product?
It probably worked out in Kasanoff's favor that the film came out a decade later than intended, seeing as how Hilary Duff would've been 15, when she recorded her lines about being in love with the character played by Charlie Sheen... Who was 37 at the time... Yikes!
Where do you find these things?! I worked in video stores (yes, I’m quite old) for years, and you still manage to pull a craprabbit out of your hat! I so can’t wait to watch this now. Oh, and PS, isn’t it time for some Shtshow merch? I’d totally wear that with pride (and, given my life, unironically).

ua-cam.com/video/xgBO9c3WKII/v-deo.htmlsi=hRaOqAj4y-yH_T3l Not sure if anyone has commented about this before, but it was recently discovered that the story about the stolen hard drives was likely fabricated by Kasanoff due to the movie missing its deadlines, and the switch to mocap was the result of Kasanoff's lack of knowledge regarding how the actual animation process worked. The video also contains lots of interviews from employees who worked on the movie, detailing Kasanoff's erratic behavior during production.
who else's favorite character is the flamboyant vampire bat played by that character actor I can't remember? It has to be one of his best performances.
Your descriptions about the over exaggerated motion, capture action reminds me of Ralph Bakshi’s awful Lord of the rings adaptation. Bakshi shot live action actors, and then had his animators trace over it. Minnie, the actors over exaggerate their movements, flailing about. Another problem with this technique is that they would shoot on twos, which meant they would skip every other frame of the live action. On the big screen, this would cause a strange stop motion strobe effect which would be quite irritating. It’s not as noticeable on a small monitor on a regular television set, but on the big screen, it looked terrible.
30:45 That's like declaring a pile of leaves and twigs is a way better bed than a memory foam mattress, and that other people need to keep up with such groundbreaking technology. It's frugal and natural. Does this guy have a car with triangular wheels and cling-wrap for the windshield?
