- Today we are steaming up the engine. The video footage isn't great and I will show a more detailed video on the next startup and go over a lot more things. This was just our first "test" startup and we are still working out all the little details.
That last whistle was epic
Cudos gentlemen for getting that old engine running again.
The 3 different whistles made it worth while!...especially the train whistle
What an awesome experience. Alex and his team are Rockstars! 🤠
Harnessing the forces of nature. A tribute to man’s ingenuity. The start of the industrial Revolution, the steam engine replacing the horse, the mule, and the farm labourer.
now steam engines power amazon delivery vehicles -- powerful! utopic!
That was an absolute thrill seeing this vidio that three chime whislte was a beast !!! What a treasure you have there i hope it steams for a long time!
Looks like you had to put the stack on, to get draft and get past the shed roof. Hell of a machine.
Absolutely awesome never seen anything like this before. Thanks so much Brian
Great to get it running with you.
Alex, can't thank you enough for all your help and hard work to get this engine up and running. Can't wait to start sawing some logs.
The girl in the background : "Please help, I'm harrassed by a bee !" 0:56
great video, thank you for sharing
lol hottest day of the year 100F where I live Australia that just a normal day.
Wow, sure is warm where you are. 100 degrees here with 90% humidity, and tending a steam engine sure does make for a hot and tiring day. Good to hear from you all the way from Australia.
Brian
that cool this machine working where she is I live in mato grosso brazil a region of amazonia I saw a machine of this working in a sawmill in 1990 today abandoned the moisture of the forest has consumed almost the entire collection
It's ALIIIIIIIIVE!
Fabulous fun
Thanks for sharing!
Pure music 🎶
Nice to see Alexander out there
Alex has been a big help in getting this engine running.
Cool to see. I think your guardian Angels were with you that day. Neat to see. I give it a 10 Safety I give it a Negative 10
If you are frightened of steam please don't watch my steam videos and comment that we are not safe. This was a very controlled firs startup after a complete rebuild on this unit.
@@metalshaperJeep I have offended you, my apologies. I am well versed in Steam. It would have been nice to know that the boiler had been completely rebuilt and certified. I have a great Love and Respect for Steam.
Soon that engine will have his frame built,Axles put on,Repainted and he will be up and running in notice
06.15 making clouds for the sky....
Lovely old engine. Had the boiler been tested before it was fired up?
yes, we did a hydro test on it and rebuild the entire steam piping system.
@@metalshaperJeep I would personally be worried without an ultrasound test of the boiler. Nice to see it run
Very nice.:)
Add a auto fuel feed and some plc’s along with a battery bank and generator... power plant
Um, has that boiler been certified?
How old is this engine, and what make and model?
What was it originally used for?
It looks like it was used for driving two flat belts, why two? Didn't they usually use one belt to drive a shaft and then drive all the other devices off that shaft? Or is one really a flywheel, rather than for a flat belt?
Traction engine or stationary boiler to run equipment is my guess
Love it ...!!
thanks for watching.
do you plan to run the sawmill with it?
yes I am going to run the sawmill with it.
@@metalshaperJeep It would be nice to go back to those times when these old steam mills ran a whistle was a way to call lunch often sawmills sat near large forest the whistle called the yard and fellers to lunch back then a lot of workers didnt carry watches because they would lose them working in the forest also as a pressure relief
but you could almost fall asleep to the chug of the steam engine
glad to see these old mills being brought back even if the old saw mantle is gone a person could fix a band mill instead of a circular blade even a generator to run an electric band mill
Boa noite felicidade paz Grand invento Union pacific eu acredito que a roda e torque mais Fort e fundamental gera energia e muito econômico legal obrigado obrigado.
The stationary engineer must stay with the engine, unless the boiler bursts whereupon he may hurtle through the air.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Where is the belt and saw?
This was just the first test start up. The belt and sawmill are in the back of the property and the steam engine needs to be moved back there and get set up.
hi there jeeps steam engines sawmill ? nice john
Good to hear from you John. I restore Willys/Jeep vehicles for 60 hours a week, got to have a little fun with the steam engine and sawmill .
I want an old military willys jeep 😕😕
What is the HP of the engine ???
can someone tell me the name of this engine
it is a Farquhar
It looks like half a traction engine. Have you got the rest of it to refit?
Looks like a stationary engine used for running a saw mill. regards
it is not a traction engine. Just a stationary unit that will run my sawmill that I am building.
Lmao if that was built today it wouldn't last 40 weeks, let alone 40 months.
