The Eastonmade ULTRA firewood splitter is the best splitter for a fast cycle time, easy to move and an affordable machine. Today we punch a pile of wood in the face and make it cry!
I sit here and think, "Why am I watching firewood being split?" It's great to see someone make a business out of the oldest heating product we use. And he makes great videos.
@@BertsCustomCuts Yeah that one of the first things I learned watching Chris early on when he was cutting on those push piles at the farmers property! Stay away from Cottonwood 🤣
Have either of you tried to split cottonwood with a maul AFTER thr rounds have dried? I've seen the maul literally BOUNCE off the rounds and bareky scratch them when cottonwood rounds are dry. The absolute worst splitting wood when dry I've ever seen.
I really like the way you take the time, after doing the work, filming it all, doing the editing, and then you read and respond to the comments. Not many bother to respond to comments.
Hi Chris. 3 days of Ultra single wedge splitting. This is my jam. Really enjoying the videos. Extra nice when you note the type of wood you are splitting. Watching the difference like between cherry and elm. Interesting. Sorry to hear about your chest cold. My "straight from Ireland" grandma was a DAILY believer in good Irish whiskey curing anything. Just saying.
I must have missed something when I watch the Episode where the offcut door ram broke free. If is it only the door mechanism which is broken then why continue Processing without using that function. Prop the door closed. Measure and cut the logs to length while they are in the grapple and process as normal. There will be no offcuts so just process the logs. But I am Australian so perhaps we just make do. I am sure there must be some other reason why the processor is down. David. Down Under.
I thought I may have already watched this one. I then saw how much of the pile you had done and how much you had left to do. It looks, at the beginning of the video, like you might complete the pile of resplits today.
I love the ultra videos, and just stumbled on a channel of Bert's, watched a little while,we need you in his comments, since you've got time.lo j.k.l thanks Chris

WOW, was just looking at this one online and here it is, this would be a great starter machine, may I ask why you are doing resplits? Love your channel!
Questioning the purpose of MB22 it’s not cutting pieces small enough respiting isn’t efficient to get it to customer specifications. In theory using a splitter that slices and cuts would be more beneficial to get the right sizes every time on nearly😊
The purpose is to sit in a chair to cut and split 1-2 full cords an hour. I make some of the pieces smaller because my customers like smaller splits. They do not have to be smaller but I want them to be. The 22mb can easily process 12-14 full cords a day ...one full semi truck load.
@@InTheWoodyard yes cutting a truck load in a day does sound good, I just feel sorry that you have to resolution so many maybe 15%-20%. I’ve spoken about wedges before, if they are. helpful and swapping them to make the pieces smaller. On that note, how are the repairs going on the MB22, I’m gathering. we will see it soon. Oh, how is Ann-Marie?

I had an idea for you and totes. If the mud bowl you experienced is disruptive to your business, would it be helpful to fill some totes with wood? Assuming the mud event is predictable, you could store some wood in totes and move them onto the concrete before you lose access to your firewood area. Hopefully this is a useful idea
@@InTheWoodyard ok Just in case the idea would be to only put the amount of wood you would need to get you passed the mud bowl into the totes because I do get that emptying them has issues. This is just a backup plan. I look forward to seeing what you really do.
I just came in from a tough gig, 50 kids AND a whole pile of parents to entertain (did both my shows, circus skills and balloon modelling) and it's great to just sit and relax and have a cuppa and watch an activity which I love doing myself. Apart from I love swinging an axe, it doesn't use fossil, just me the muesli muncher..... Guess what you forgot? Irene wouldn't be happy!
Am surprised the battery tool companies haven't given you a battery powered trailer dolly to move things around in the woodyard. The good ones are not cheap!

Dead Elm splits far easier than live Elm. There was one old man who was known for felling and hauling out dead elms. He would have entire landings of barkless dead Elm.

Just a suggestion about your problem with shortness of breath, this could be a symptom of a blockage of the circulatory system. DO NOT IGNORE THIS. Have yourself checked out. It’s a lot better to find this before any damage is done to your heart. If there is a blockage it can be treated easily and corrected. No amount of exercise is going to unblock an artery. Love watching your videos, especially when the processor runs.

Wow, you put the Ultra to the test today (or two weeks ago). That was some nasty, stringy wood with a lot of knots. Hopefully the wood yard dries out soon so you can put all that wood in the bins and make more room. Take care and have a great day.
What I don't understand is if you're going to resplit all your wood after it has gone through the processor you myswell go back to the old way and saw it with the chain saw. Save time and money. Love the video's just don't make sense. .
Chris has said in some of the previous videos, that his clients are mainly fireplace burners, not heating wood for boilers for central heating. So they want pieces that they can lift with one hand, and put in the fireplace. Plus the smaller splits dry faster than the larger big chunks. So to service his clientele he resplits into nice size, takes awhile but with the Ultra not too long!
