    Very well done Erik. Thanks! Feedback: one of the Autopilot errors, IMO, is passing too fast on the right. That can go through multiple blind spots very quickly and IMO is dangerous. It's generally a bad practice to pass on the right. IMO autopilot would be safer if it did not do that.

    When in autopilot and the car is turning does the steering wheel turn or does it just stay still? Also how’s that work if you keep your hand on the wheel while in AP, at what point does a movement kick you out of AP?

  • @MWS1960
    @MWS1960 5 років тому

    I just picked up a new model 3 with autonomous mode. Driving through Scottsdale, AZ where I live, I was driving down a two lane road when the lines in the middle of the road disappeared due to a left turn lane appearing with a solid white line to my left. This is common around AZ. The car violently swerved to the left to enter that lane (did not generate turn signal and wasn’t planning to turn left. I had to grab the wheel to stop the car from going out of control. This is alarming, as it happened twice now on road where the speed limit is 45MPH. I have reported this to Tesla this morning, but wasn’t sure if you’ve ever experienced this ?

  • @ecospider5
    @ecospider5 6 років тому +19

    You stated the self driving is going to be a software only update. This has been stated by tesla but they have also said if they are wrong they will only upgrade the hardware for free if you have already purchased the self driving feature. So one of the benefits of paying for the self driving when you get your car is guaranteed hardware upgrade if they decide it is required.

    • @Muiz956
      @Muiz956 6 років тому +1

      Ecospider5 all Tesla's being produced right now come with all the hardware for full self-driving, it's only a matter of when the software will be ready

    • @xNeFShARkx
      @xNeFShARkx 6 років тому +2

      Moiyo, yeah, but you can't tell that in the future they will figured something out that needs a hardware change!

    • @makesaveinccomm
      @makesaveinccomm 6 років тому

      The software is ready, just not perfect and the States are still not approve yet.

    • @xNeFShARkx
      @xNeFShARkx 6 років тому +1

      The software is far from ready, if it was ready, it would work on any kind of road! And all features would be unlocked. And no software will be ever perfect! Maybe if it was and IA that could re-write its code to fix stuff by itself!!!

    • @LoanwordEggcorn
      @LoanwordEggcorn 6 років тому

      The only practical hardware upgrade for Full Self Driving (FSD) would be a GPU (neural network hardware) upgrade. Tesla said it would pay for that if needed. A GPU upgrade may or *may not* be needed. The sensors are not practical to upgrade, nor would they generally need to be upgraded. The current cars all have many sensors: ultrasonic, cameras, radar.

    • @TeslaInventory

      Disabling autopilot can be done by firmly grabbing the wheel (this will take it out of autopilot but keep TACC engaged. Or by pressing on the brake, it will take it out of autopilot and disable TACC which would return full control back to the driver.

    I will never buy a Model 3 because of the big screen. It is very wrong to always look in the right side for the information and it is also very dangerous for you and people in the traffic. I not recommend it.Actually you have to drive with one hand to watch at the screen and this is kinda something you learn in the driving school. You always have to keep both of the hand of the strearing wheal. This is my opinion and no harm.

  • @djbrianc

    Auto pilot is not a selling point for me. I see every body else cares more about it than the rest of the car. I could care less about it. Driving is the reason I want a car in game first place.

    • @saiyan2525
      @saiyan2525 6 років тому +4

      On the other hand, it is a selling point for me. I will be doing 130 mile a day high way commute, and getting an autopilot is going to be worth $40k.

    • @ChristopherOne
      @ChristopherOne 6 років тому +4

      Reliability? Really? Other than early issues with Models S and X in early production (same as any car company). Tesla is working way harder to take care of issues ahead of production, and what other car company will come to your house and fix it in your driveway, or flatbed it to their facility free of charge while under the 4 year warranty?. Give specific examples please. It sounds like you are Trolling, just dropping some comment and hoping people will believe you.

    • @jacquesgilbert2774
      @jacquesgilbert2774 6 років тому +2

      My model S is coming on 4 years without a single glitch. My previous BMWs, Porsches, and Mercedes never got to the 3rd year without some issues: Dead battery, leaking sun roof, disconnected clutch pedal, loose muffler catalytic converter, and plenty others. Your handle shows your maturity level, you have no idea what you are talking about.
      saiyan2525 will use less than 50 kwh per day for his/her 130 miles, which, using overnight charging, will cost about $5, $6 at most. Of course, calculating that and the savings compared to an ICE involves arithmetics, but don't worry, when you get to 3rd grade you may figure it out if you pay real attention.
