I love the thought of an M3 Estate. Here in Sweden estates sell more than saloons and stood for 31% of all car sales in 2019. As a loyal BMW customer I have an 2019 540i because it was the fastest BMW estate you could buy. Now there is the M340i though but it has just 30HP more. But the thought of an 500HP M3 estate with xdrive that can match the Audi RS4 in rough scandinavian weather and be as playful as an C63 is just a dream come true for a BMW fan. Can't wait!
It's likely that m3 drivers are less tolerant of compromise even more especially 20years ago. Its a changing world. You're doing a great job with your program.
Actually... back in the days I had an M5 touring close to my place and it was gorgeous. Practical, sporty... the perfect combination. I absolutely dig!!!

Or here's how they do it. They already have a manual gearbox ready. Instead of being another SUPER LAME automatic only wagon. Make the M3 Touring the only option that you can get a stick with. At the very least, they will absolutely stand out. And the world will have one beautiful sport wagon with the correct number of pedals. :)

Sad to see states not being popular compared to suvs there’s literally no reason to carry 2.5 ton high center of gravity brick not in terms of safety not in terms of energy consumption for carrying out one person there is no Time in history people are gonna look it at and say yeah that was smart and also not in terms of city driving no need for off road capabilities that almost no one uses them and if you want a sporty family vehicle state is better in every single way
A 50 year old mother of 3 is not interested in a low slung car with switchable rwd, they are a nightmare to live with on a daily basis. That's why people buy SUV's, because they are great for everyday use

Its gotta be fast SUVs if you have a family. Great commanding views and still more space in the trunk and rear seats for the fam. Today' s SUV s are so powerful its not anymore a big compromise.

Nah man for that cash I will buy a b5 alpina touring not cause it is better than amg e class (it is better than the b5 in many ways) but its not than known, perfect future classic and more special for car guys like me for its rarity

BMW basically invented the high performance SUV with their X6, now they come with a ME touring...they might not be that wrong. And I LOVE that grill, btw. What's with so many people "not minding it"? I think it's gorgeous
What Rory says is very important, because there has always been a hole in the segment, the Audi may have the grip to compete with a model 3 but not the power, the C63 has the power but no the grip, so combining the two properly, you can take the fight to EVs and win. But I feel like it's taken then so long to finally do it. I am so excited to see how it results but also scared at the same time
Can’t wait. Got the g21 340iX this year in the mean time and can’t wait to see what the future LCI m3 will be like when the touring variant comes out. Hoping it will be the one to trade up to.
I worked at a BMW dealership for 14 years and we couldn't sell wagons (estates). BMW made us take some anyway so we put them in our loaner fleet. Once we got people into them we sold them all usually out of the loaner fleet. The BMW wagon market is still almost non-existent which is why they discontinued importing them to the US. You would think if they do an M3 wagon they would also offer the 3 series wagon but I don't see that as happening which means we still won't get either. BMW can't sell them in the US. Importing an enthusiast M3 version doesn't make a lot of sense. I sold my last BMW wagon last year because it was getting more difficult to maintain (parts availability) and there were no BMW alternatives. I drive a Volvo wagon now.
If I could afford one then yes, yes, yes - this will be a great car for sure however real potential buyers might often choose x3m over this simply because they would not be able to fully use its potential and because all their neighbours have suvs and they don't want to look like midgets around them
Actually, BMW's thinking was quite clear from the start. Fast estates needs were covered by 335 or 535. By further up the performance enveloppe you add weight, lose economy and compromise the chassis robbing it of daily comfort. Why bother making an M version when the regular "hot" factoiry versions were ^perfect for daily use? You also have to remember BMW's family relashionship with Alpina which caters for the more refinement more power market, including and especially estates (just go to any European Sky resort).
I was sold on SUVs, but the practicality, and apparent performance, of tourings have won me over. Not quite sure how BMW is gonna get me to stop drooling over Audi's - this is definitely a start though.
There has always been a fast 3 series-based touring - its called the Alpina B3 Touring. Why are people sleeping on those cars as if they don't exist and yet claim "BMW never had an answer for the RS4 Avant and C63 estate"?
because its not a real M car. its just a tuned M330/340i. its like Brabus tuning the C43 or ABT tuning the S4. doesn't come straight from the manufacturer
At this point, I'd be happy if BMW NA imports 3-series wagon with an inline-6 and preferably a rwd version. Unfortunately, the f31 chassis in North America was only offered in xdrive coupled with a 4 cyl. But if BMW NA could stretch it and import a M3 touring, I'd be ecstatic!

Don't care personally if it's a wagon or not, I hope they'll get punished with bad sales for that atrocious front end. Really hoping this will be a turning point towards more subtle car designs since it's getting a bit ridiculous now

I like bmw more than the other brands ,and I prefer touring than other models ,but those big grills are killing vibes... PS: right now I'm driving 1series-2013-120i hatchback and I like it 😅
I think the M3 touring is a great idea. One problem, in Australia, the demand position of the market isn’t there. If BMW can’t sell them, why should I buy one? It seems a risk. I could go fo the X3MC and be able to sell it. I wish it was different because I want one.

Can't wait BMW is definitely on the right path with this venture the times is all super SUV dominant but in general the necessity is the added practicality and then performance to boot but you've still got a niche that just does not embrace SUVs at all but still require a fair bit amount of practicality and to bring this along all I can see is success...BMW being BMW I believe they'll sell and eat into the market share of audi and merc 💯

Shmucks like me who love hot hatches are growing up. And earning more money. We want more sophisticated versions of our Focus RS’s and Civic Type Rs.

You're talking as if bmw never sold fast cars before. What about e90 M3 and others? Those cars have sold quite well and have a big fan base
About time there was an M3 touring, not many years ago I’d have been seriously tempted. Sadly, thanks to that grille, my BMW buying days are over. Shame, I’m on my third 3 touring now, but the new ones look vile.
