How about putting the paws downwards, creating a deeper pocket before adding the oil and sprinkles? The flat holographic sheets can still be used after, or at the back of your design and show through the front & back when done....possibly with even less steps?! Just a thought!❤
Was about to comment on this topic, with this style of mold you are not supposed to let the bottom cure flat, instead you use the insert to give the toe beans inner dimples, and mold the interior to match the exterior, usually anyway
I think the bubbles in the resin actually look very dope for a project like this!! It blurs the line between the baby oil and the resin and gives a really good effect!
This was my first mold for resin. I used my silicone ice cube trays. I wore this out. I made it similar but on the back I put tiny stickers and charms and little messages. Made them key chains for every cat lover I know. Then I got a paw shaped trinket dish with a lid. That was my favorite. Now I have an embarrassing amount of molds. LOL. LOVED THE VIDEO. Best one for resin.
These are super cute 🥰 Im a first time dog owner, my cat just turned 8 years old. I’m starting a small business and will be selling shakers! What I’m gathering is it’s a lot of trial and error coming my way lol. Thanks for the authentic tutorial ❤
Lovely cats. I am a cat person too :) Yes I have made shakers, made a bit of a mess. need to try again. I've not seen this sort of shaker mould either, with the inserts, so thanks for this video. Interesting and nice results
Those are so cute! I got some Disney Mickey Mouse molds from Amazon that I need to do similar steps, and haven’t gotten the nerve yet to make them with the floating confetti inside yet, but maybe will dare soon, thanks to your tips! Thanks!
the little moving air bubbles make me wonder if you could make a little maze game. or do something like those water+oil things that you shake to watch the tiny colored oil bubbles fall?
Hey fellow Canadian! I recently stumbled upon your channel and have already found a number of inspirations, thanks so much for sharing your experiences! :) I have never thought of the 'static' factor when doing resin work. Interesting! Ive been obsessed with resin lately and have to admit that with all of my resin related video watching, your video is the first time I've ever heard of "resin shakers" that's a cool side of resin use I cant believe I havent seen before. Thanks again for sharing your vids :)
Babe you have the patience of a SAINT. This came out so cool but is a really long way of doing them! Thanks for showing us though because I've never seen this done, and shakers are my THANG!! 🤩 You did a fantastic job though babe, well done! It's of no surprise to you I'm 100% a cat person! 😻😻😻😻😻
I have SUCH a hard time with shakers! I have successfully done three, one looks presentable, the other two are just lumpy messes. It seems like having the lip and mold would help but idk...it is the baby oil that always does me it. Recently saw someone use distilled water and clear glue and I might try that. These came out so cute! Oh and STATIC! GRRR!
syringes are fantastic for putting tiny amounts of colored epoxy into small spaces without any mess to clean up or fix, and it helps ensure each bit has the same amount of epoxy in it too so it doesn't overflow the detail but isn't underfilled either.
Wow that’s a process….I didn’t understand how this was going to come together. They look great but I’m having a hard time deciding which one I like shiny or matte hmmmm I think both.
I’m a cat and dog person-2 rescue dogs, and 3 rescue cats! As for your paws, I LOVE them!!! Great tutorial too! Thank you, I just might buy them now. Also did you get that whole kit of polymer clay together???❤❤❤❤
Just watching this again as I just got this mould. I will credit you when I get chance to make a video on this of course :) Love your makes, so cute and expertly done
These are super cute. I made series of shaker resin but with 2 parts resin. Yes, your husband was right about re-sealing the edges properly with uv resin before pouring the epoxy resin. By the way, I have 15 fishes at the moment, I love my aquarium as I’m allergic to fur (cat & dog). Thanks very much for sharing all the things that went wrong and the lovely tutorial 👍🏽
Super cute! I tried making a shaker charm one time but my mistake was I used UV resin and the pieces got all warped and didn’t line up properly when I put them together and baby oil got everywhere when I filled it with the shaker bits and oil 🙃 I did end up getting into using 2 part resin instead and did start a new shaker but am afraid to finish it and have the oil get everywhere again 😂
lol oof. Yess at first it was the same for me. My first shakers were no good and ended up leaking everywhere😂 It all comes down to trial and error and lots of practice. 🤓
I thought the inserts woudl go in toe bean side down to create deeper indents and such. Other wise it's pointless for the inserts to have the beans as well and would just be completely flat.
Hello good evening paw print shake a mold from it is cute I like that and where you get all your confetti wrong I like that case to where can I get all them colors from.
To avoid the oil mishap, u can wait til the end, demold then drill a hole and add the oil and seal with uv.. but I do have a question.. how are they holding up? Has the uv layer separated from the epoxy layers? 🤔 Very kewl video I thoroughly enjoyed it 🥰 I had gotten these fm Ali too but haven't had a chance to play with them yet! 💕
Very cute! Will u make them into keychains? Just wondering where u drill into them then to make a hole for an eye screw or jump ring? Love ur vid!!! 💜💙💜💙
I still haven't figured out how I will turn them into keychains as I have bad luck drilling my resin pieces haha. I always break the eye pin no matter how gentle I am. But if I was to put in an eye pin it would probably go between the two middle toe beans..🤔
I got gifted some shaker moods and I was worried because of the babby oil but now that I know it dosn’t stop curing I want to try! Just need to figure out what film is for shakers
The film is just plastic acetate. There’s nothing special about it. Basically they are overhead projector sheets. My favorite one is “Dura-lar Ultra Clear in 5mil by Grafix” - it comes in a 9x12 pad of 25 sheets (the one with the purple cover - not the yellow). Very good quality and sturdy. I’ve also seen people use basic laminating sheets. One lady put a light dusting of a holographic glitter then laminated it - the pieces were super cool when she cut them out. Hope this helps. 😊
I wonder if you use a mist spray bottle filled with baby oil and spray the mold of that would give a water drop effect? Or small drips by hand for larger drops 🤔❤
Too cute -but where can you buy additional cover film and holographic films? There are only 8 included in this kit. I checked their website and it does not seem to offer refills.
2 questions, how long does it take to get your order from Ali cause I’ve never ordered from them, and 2..do you mix glycerin with the baby oil or can you just use baby oil?
I usually do the tracked option for Ali. It comes a lot faster. But if you do the free shipping it can take 4-6 months.😩 I just do baby oil. Vegetable glycerin is too expensive.😅
Hiya 😊 I'm new to resin, is there a reason for the baby oil? Or can water or another clear liquid be substituted? Thanks, also they are sooooo cute ❤❤ also a Canadian and a kitty person got 4 😅
I have a question: Will the polymer pieces dissolve? I can't imagine that they will last "forever." I am having a hard time with shakers.. They never work out as planned. I will try it again .. but I don't have big expectations:'D
Well Im not exactly sure. The shakers I have that I first made, still have the polymer clay pieces inside and I haven’t noticed any dissolve. I’ve had them for about 5 years now. I started doing resin in 2018..😊 Good luck. Shakers can be quiet tricky. I struggled a lot too in the beginning.
@@JBKonsCreations yes even different background images to put in the shaker and the keychains rings..me neither not subs anymore but i always check every month in case..
@@JBKonsCreations but then ..you have all of it at home..with more awesome glitters!! Also dont need much more glitter or bezels because I BUY when i see something i like😻😻
Cute! I like making shakers but I’m super anal about making them leakproof so they take a while. I cut my film as small as possible, then I sand the edge before I but the epoxy on, and I flood it over the esge
I've gotten better at making shakers, but I've never done them like this. A couple tips for making the "traditional" ones (is that what they are? 😅): 1. Sand the edges of the piece where the film is going to be. It helps the UV resin get a better grip so there's less chance of it seperating. 2. Poke or punch a small hole in the film and use a needle tip bottle to fill with oil, glycerin, or distilled water (regular water can grow nasty stuff). I used to drill holes through the sides and fill from there, but then I had a lot of pieces leak or had a bump on the side from the UV resin. 3. If you're going to use eye screws instead of glue-on bails, add those to the piece before filling it with inclusions and putting the film on. Also use adhesive like E6000 or Gorilla Glue to hold the screw in place and keep oil from leaking out.
Good tips! I've been doing for a couple of years now and I still can't use a eye screw to save my life. They always break or I can't match the right drill bit size to the eye pins I have LOL.
Wow such a cool mold but I will pass. It seem way too much work so I stick to the regular shaker mold. Thanks for the video though, man that was so much work. I love how you get both matt and glossy version.
@@JBKonsCreations Yeah I went back to the box. I am addicted lol It is in the next box .... urgh I so don;t wanna do this but maybe I will give it a shot. I think that's how they're actually supposed to work. Not sure as I've never used this type before.
That's how I'd have done it too
That's what I was thinking. that's why she struggled putting the oil in while still in the mold.
Was about to comment on this topic, with this style of mold you are not supposed to let the bottom cure flat, instead you use the insert to give the toe beans inner dimples, and mold the interior to match the exterior, usually anyway
