    fingers crossed they also update breaktweaker and iris both are brilliant but there pretty old now and could be updated.

    • @Nomo_Popo
      @Nomo_Popo 4 роки тому +4

      Breaktweaker has greater potential but I think it gets in the way of itself because of its limits. What they should do is at least allow midi output even if it isn't able to do repeats as fast as it can to samples in the plugin. I'd rather have it trigger drum kits I already have set up instead of needing to create or recreate ones; that's what puts me off.

    • @jamisbillson4872

      djjuno106...I would love the Breaktweaker top window in BT to show the whole loop. There’s plenty of room but for some reason they made it so that you lose vision of the last part of a full length loop. It’s really annoying because it’s such an easy fix. Maybe the oddest decision Izotope have ever made. Other than that little moan I’m so impressed with the plug ins from Izotope. Trash 2 is the dogs dangley bits. I love it. And Iris 2. And Breaktweaker.

    How did oyu route it to be used wit your midi controller? I ma a Studio One user and having a hard time even using it. "Up and running" for me would've been showing us HOW you routed it, even more than showing us what the plug-in can do. Nobody ever does videos in depth about routing plug-ins like this and Gross Beat.

    The features look exciting in the videos and on Izotope's product page, but IMO, they actually managed to make the interface even more difficult than the first version. Even more features in the same space, and the layout (to me) is not intuitive. Graphically, everything is black and blue...really hard to tell what parameter you are working on sometimes. Sometimes you click on a parameter and start working on a curve, and then you realize it's a curve for a different parameter. Also, it's not obvious from this video, but to me the fonts in the plugin are poorly chosen and don't have great resolution...made very skinny to fit everything in. If you fill your screen with it, and don't mind covering up everything underneath, it looks pretty good. At "regular plugin size," it is terrible. If you have the original SE, you are familiar with the little range handlebars, also featured in this video. Sometimes they are not there in SE2, and neither is the lock button; that happens if one of the presets (almost a must for a starting point) has already established a curve for that parameter. If it is linear, you get handlebars and can take the simplified route. If it is not linear, you won't get the range handlebars or the lock button -- no simple adjustments -- until you choose the parameter, go to the curve, and reset it to linear. The curves are a nice feature, but I feel like this forces you to use the curves for every parameter, which is just a ton of work because there are SO many parameters, and I find curve design to be exhausting except for a parameter here or there. I also found the wet gain and dry gain controls difficult to use. They are specific to a gesture, not master controls, so there's nothing like a global wet/dry here. Say you are using the gesture at C1 and find SE2 is a bit overloud for what you are doing, and you want to dial it back to mix it in. You'll try fiddling with wet gain and dry gain (not a simple concept when they have separate curves, and somehow they still work when turned off)...anyway, just when you've got the mix right, you'll hit another gesture (C2) and realize it's too loud also. So now you have to fiddle with wet gain and dry gain curves again. Wash, rinse, repeat for every gesture. Very customizable, but you really gotta want it. To me, the first version of SE was baffling, but fun because you could usually get something interesting by pulling up a present, and moving some ranges and parameters around. I got excited about SE2 (almost bought without trying), but I find it is just as baffling conceptually, but harder to get something useful out of unless you master every aspect of it. If you become a real student of this thing, it's super powerful. If you just like to occasionally drop it on a track for some glitchy effects or movement, I think SE2 is harder to use than the original, which already wasn't that easy. Also, if you had the first version and customized a lot of stuff, I'm pretty sure you won't be able to use your old presets (either factory, expansion or the ones you created yourself) in SE2. Anyway, those are just my initial impressions. Definitely give it a try.

    • @AriTheElk
      @AriTheElk 3 роки тому

      You would use this plugin in midi mode (menu is at the top of the plugin). With midi mode on, stutter effect won't trigger unless a midi node is pressed. In ableton, it would look like this:
      Vocal Track (has stutter edit on, in midi mode)
      Midi track (no instrument, have the track send midi to "Vocal Track > Stutter Edit 2".
      Then, whenever a note is played on the midi track, it triggers a stutter on the vocal track. Midi mode also allows you to create totally different stutters on every note. So you can trigger a ton of different stutters live.
