    I've been running Wildpeak AT3w's on my 2000 4Runner, (285/70/17's), and have aprox 30K miles and there is lots of tread left. They have performed well in every condition. Excellent in rain and snow and relatively quiet for all terrain tires. Took it out to Colorado and did the Alpine Loop and they crawled over everything in their path. Will certainly be looking at Falken when these wear out. Great tires.

    I agree that all the new trucks have bigger rotors and calipers but I didn’t think any of them couldn’t fit a 18 inch rim. most vehicles when you buy the up size rim package you still get the same brakes and tire diameter? I think your correct getting the narrower tire because wider is not always better! There is reasons why commercial trucks still use tall profile tires?

    Great comprehensive review. I just had AT3w's put on my truck 5 days ago. Replaced my KO2's that didn't even give me 20k so I'm sure hoping these guys give me a little more bang for my buck. The 55k mile warranty was a motivator. I'd never had tires put on at a dealership, but living in Cody, WY it's hard to find what you're looking for, so I'm glad I called the Ford dealership and asked if they could get them. the guy in the service department said, "Oh yeah, those are great tires. What size? Have em in 2 days." Mounted and balanced I was out the door at $993.28 as opposed to the $1,444.00 I paid for the KO2's. I took the KO2's in at 6k for rotate and balance and they were already shot. Never even bothered to rotate and balance them again. They were on a F250 6.0L that sat in the shop so long that even though the mileage was worthy of a reimbursement, the time frame had expired. Well, I got the 6.0 bulletproofed with new Falkens and I'm finally feeling happy about the truck. I'm gonna take it out in the red clay mud today and find out what they can do. Hopefully I came upon a brand I'll use on all my trucks. Thanks man, good info!

    I got the new Toyo R/T trail and I love them and I tow a 12,000 pound trailer too. And with that three peak mountain snowflake symbol. 99% of the vehicles that these tires are mounted on four-wheel-drive. And all 50 states and Canada you’ll have to have traction tires or four-wheel-drive or vehicles only equipped with four-wheel-drive can proceed. Traction tires only come on non-four-wheel-drive vehicles. And I am a truck driver with over 1,000,000 miles experience and I’ve been in bad situations. If you have traction, Tires or the three peak mountain snowflake symbol, Tires. if you have four-wheel-drive and they are requiring you to have a three peak mountain snowflake symbol on your tires to proceed, I hate to break it to anybody, but they are smoking some psychological drug. it doesn’t matter what tire you have on your vehicle if they are requiring you to have a traction tire on your four-wheel-drive vehicle that is not gonna help you chains are the only option if you know what I mean. If you have a good tire on your vehicle and you take care of your tires, it doesn’t matter what tire you have on a four-wheel-drive vehicle chains should be the only thing you turned to.

    • @klforrest573
      @klforrest573 5 місяців тому

      Very good question: this is a game changer for most who spend most of time in the colder regions on snow, ice, and rain.
      A tire that Siping is only halfway through makes The tread almost worthless after the tire is half worn - in these conditions.
      I myself will stick with a three mountain snow peak tire due to the softer tread compound for the colder conditions.

      I just had a set of 285 55 22’s put on a 2020 Ford expedition Thursday and they are very loud. I’m very disappointed. I’m a car dealer and run different tires on different trucks was able to get these so I tried them out. The price was so cheap though. I paid 1326 for the set. I just came out of a expedition last week I was running 35 11.50 20 nitto ridge grappler it rides so much better and quiet. But for the price and look I’d say they are worth it but if they go up on the price like they did with the AT3w I will always run a ridge grappler, recon grappler or bfgoodrich.

      Because stopping is more important than going, and these trucks have brake rotors that require 20s. SOME 18s will barely fit, but 20s is where it has gone these days due to the size of brake hardware.
