Melodifestivalen 2013 was the Swedish music competition that selected the 53rd Swedish entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013. Robin Stjernberg's song "You" won the final, and became the first Second Chance song to win the Melodifestivalen final.
The final took place at the Friends Arena on 9 March 2013. For the twelfth consecutive year, the competition consisted of four semifinals, a "second chance" round, and a final. A total of 32 competing entries were divided into four semifinals, with eight compositions in each. From each semifinal, the songs that earned first and second place went directly to the final, while the songs that were placed third and fourth proceeded to the Second Chance semifinal. The bottom four songs in each semifinal were eliminated from the competition. This year the selection process for the 32 songs was slightly modified from the previous year by removing the web wildcard round and allowing the selection panel to decide on the finalist in the newcomer block of submissions. In addition, the winning artist of Svensktoppen nästa, a music competition organized by Sveriges Radio P4, automatically qualified to submit an entry for Melodifestivalen. Further changes included modification to the Second Chance round that removed one tier of duels.

I was looking forward to seeing Sanna and Ace in the end but at some point I realized that's the wrong year. 2013 was a crazy year with the only time someone from AC winning. At that time I was for Ulrik but looking back I can better appreciate Robin but I think, Yohio should have won

Robin was my winner, but I would have been really happy with Yohio, Ulrik or State of Drama as well if one of them had won, but En rägtig jävlar Schlager was my guilty pleasure. A kinda crazy year, and the first year I watched Melodifestivalen.

I had complete forgotten about “Gosa”, Swedish House Wives, Amanda Fondell, Rolinski and Army of Lovers. This was a really weird year.

Oh I remember this year.
This year's final was probably the most controversial in Melodifestivalens history as the international jury votes completely flipped the peoples' votes on their heads - Yohio, being the swedish voters' choice by a decent margin, got almost completely nuked by the jury and therefore lost the first place and dropped into second, almost all the way down to third. The jury has had a habit of frequently voting against the choices of the swedish people throughout the years and them carrying 50% of the total voting power often has an impact on the end result - this year was probably the boiling point as it had the most notable impact.
Lots of folks got quite upset - feeling as if their choice for their contestant was removed from them.

Since Sweden won 2012 we where in the finals anyways. Might aswell send something on the quirky end for once.

Basically Sweden sent one of the worst of the year, it’s so sad. People will say it wasn’t a good year - the final is one of the worst. But that’s just because all of the gold was kicked out in the heats.
