- Gran Turismo 7 has had its share of issues since release. But when compared to top sims like Assetto Corsa, F1 22, Forza Motorsport or iRacing, it's clearly a cut above in the graphics department. In this video we showcase 25 minutes of different racing 'scenes' in glorious ray-traced 4k, 60fps to show why, despite its flaws, GT7 rules the roost when it comes to sheer immersion.

The only reason I could tell it was a video game and not real life at particular moments, was the watermark at the bottom right. Just insanely gorgeous. What a standard to beat, honestly.

Yeah I'm a forza player and I can honestly say that this is one of the best looking racing game we've ever had
I think people who hate the physics handling model have never driven a car before and especially not on a track. GT7 is 2 different games, one with a controller and one with a great wheel like a dd pro. I lap the Ring in reality regularly and can tell you that in my car with the same types of mods and geo setup, it feels uncannily the same at times, right down to how the wheel and track respond to one another. There is depth is people give it the time to really get to know it with good equipment.

First time sb. mentions this. I keep saying the same thing, i really don't get it, why people hate the gt7 physics. I have driven racecars since i'm 15 years old irl and i also played "real" simulations such as ACC and i still believe that GT7 is the closest to reality in terms of handling. Especially the Nordschleife is !by far! the best in any racing game ever made.

@@shavy9655 not to mention, for every ACC/AC/iRacing player, they want to defend it blindly and since GT is coming from PD, it means it's for the game is "easier" for them because it tries to suits every player,.I didn't drive a car in circuit yet, but still I tried Karting many times, and people are shocked how fast i'm with little practice irl, and mainly because of GT7.
The photos from replay mode, scapes, and just the menus, look amazing.
Its a shame there's no option to run the game at 1440p or something just to get those glorious raytraced reflections in actual gameplay.
There may be soon. The newest update for the PS5 is implementing the 1440p support for monitors. So you may be able get some more features once the devs catch up.
This would be great... if I wasn't running it on a 120HZ 4k TV. So even without raytracing it's currently running at half the framerate it should be 🤣

Good news is, GT7 was part of the geforce now leak so it was definitely planned at some point. It's probably coming in a couple years.
You are so right, it's all about immersion. I have AC also and switch off between the two. Although I "feel" more the of the curbs and feedback on AC, switching back to GT7 gets me more excited to "race" because of the overall immersion factor. GT7 has that nailed down perfectly, can't wait to see the game better through the years.
The game even looks/sounds pretty spectacular on a PS4. I think with updates, the game will continue to improve. I was less than impressed when it first came out, but have warmed up to it over time. Great showcase video Ermz! God bless and race on 👍😎🏁

I recently picked up gt7 again and man, she is just a heap of fun to sink hours in to, especially after claiming gold licences.
It’s also good to point out how much the sound plays a role in how immersive the game is and I think they’ve done very well here
Ok stop capping. Game sounds absolute dogshit apart from like 3 cars. Custom sounds on assetto corsa made by 1 guy sound 100 times better.

@vgvwvgw vwlknvwolk You have to be kidding, Assetto corsa sounds like a PC sim from 2006. It's like you can see the code with "If gas then play sample1.wav", and the samples are like made with a phone :) Sound is the worst part of the sim.
@@vladimirtalijan idk which cars you are using but I can tell you are absolutely capping. AC/C both sound amazing on the kunos cars, and many sound mods are built with irl recording of the cars, but there are also really bad sounding mods as there are bad modded cars and tracks, stop using bad mods ;)

@@Ermz I can confirm it through playing Assetto Corsa. 787B is WILD. Nearly (but not quite) as wild as McLaren MP4/4. Both of course with manual H-pattern shifter and manual clutch
It feels like people liked GTSport more, when in reality, it is way less impressive.

This was a good video to showcase GT7's beauty. I'm impressed with the game's graphical presentation, and indeed, encourage you to dabble in showing short replays from a variety of sims that demonstrate how realistic they can look.
For GT7, you could have another crack at showing some classic and vintage cars too (aside from the 917) because the old Maserati, Ferrari, Porsche and Lamborghini classics are rendered beautifully.
I'm seeing comments that this style of video is not what they want to see, or that they are vexed at your fascination with GT7. Make content that YOU enjoy making. If that's BeamNG, WRC 10, ACC, RF2 or any matching real life laps, do what pleases and interests you. I skip the videos that aren't of interest to me, and watch the ones that do. And the sun still rises the next day and the earth still turns.

You got me at when the light from Ferrari moves away from the car following the headlamps as they rotate up right in the beginning.
Sometimes when I have trouble falling asleep I watch this video and appreciate the race cars till I fall asleep. Then other times I will watch it to just be amazed by the visuals and sound quality. Either way I’ve watched this video many times and love every second of it
The grinding game style of GT is something I left behind a few consoles ago and have no intention of revisiting, at least until it migrates to PC, which is highly unlikely of course.
Same here. I remember back when Project Cars 1st came out, pp;l were talking about why they had all the cars & tracks available from the start (nothing to unlock etc..) and if this was good /bad. Well since then I can't deal starting with a 150hp car grinding up to unlock the ones u really want to race. BTW: I think this type of play is backwards i always find this style harder to race with a low power car, than the top tier ones! lol just give us options, tons of options :)
Focus in the actual racing and your racecraft, instead of grinding for...just a complete save file, wich is nothing.
I moved on from GT and play Iracing, best thing I have ever done in my life, I have even raced real drivers.

Due to being financially incapable I have not been able to play sport or 7. This game will always be king. I saw one commercial for gt1 back in 98. I went to blockbuster got a membership rented the game. 3 months later I got a ps. It's been ever since the only game l have ever really played

Looks amazing brother. As a single player racer myself I wanted to ask you does the ai actually race you or Is the game mainly just about passing cars ? I was really considering getting this game but in previous versions the ai races are mostly just about passing cars not actually racing with them ya know
Mostly passing cars, unfortunately. The AI is largely a non-event.
Yea suxx! Just passing cars is not racing. The worst type of AI that I really hate is when only the lead car is always the fastest. Say u spin him out, then the 2nd place car (now 1st) automatically starts turning the fastest laps. So u spin him then the 3rd place car (now 1st) will turn the fastest laps. so-on and so-on ..... So you can only have a good race with who ever is in the 1st position. Why is it so hard to create good AI that u can pass & get passed.
I really really hope GT7 was some mid game(like GT5 Prologue) and there is GT8 exclusive for PS5 that will take full advantage of the vastly more powerful CPU in these new consoles for new physics model and also with PS5 Pro incoming it will take raytracing to the level it can be pulled off with no drawbacks.
GT sport was gt7 prologue. My theory is that gt7 was planned for PS4 but that they delayed it to add content to GTS because people were complaining about a lack of content. Then they had to delay the game again to develop it for the ps5 as Sony wanted it to be a launch title but that didn't happen since pd just takes ages to make games.
@@neblolthecarnerd yeah, it can very much be seen as one in my opinion. testing the new multiplayer, huds, cars, resolutions and implementing new tracks so that gt7 could be better on release. that’s why it doesn’t have a number, just like gt5 prologue wasn’t techincally a full release gran turismo.
Gt7 has been amazing for our acc league. 30 car grids week in week out with super clean racing

Gt7 looks worse than assetto corsa competizione or Automobilista 2 in native 4K. It is upscaled 4k 60 fps in GT at best compared to these two, plus average ffb and lack of vr support.

It seems that everyone has forgotten Driveclub. That game looked insane and driving in heavy rain or snowstorms was actually scary because you couldn't see the road in front of you very well.

@@DriftNick "Way below" Its not. I watched the AC on this channel and it looked ridiculusly unrealistic at times and at times it looked really realistic. No simulation yet can model all situations realistically its a tradeoff you gotta choose where to put your CPU cycles. But yes GT7 failed to improve on GT Sport because its a multiplatfrom game and they had to make the code run on that shitty Jaguar CPU in PS4. Hopefully GT8 comes out exclusivly for PS5.
Oh man I hope they bring back some proper endurance racing. 4/6/8/12 & 24hr races, specifically Nordschleife, spa and le mans. Would love to experience the day>night>day transitions but not in the compressed 24hrs to 1 hr races.

@@scottd7222 yep I think it will come too, it'll be a constant drip feed of content like GTS and will be for the life of the PS5 generation. It's already miles ahead of the bare bones that GTS was at the same time in its lifecycle. Enjoying it, they just gotta tweak the penalties in sport mode.

I actually find GT racing in GT7 very fun. Whether it’s Gr.3 in a C7.R or a Gr.4 Supra, I’ve had fun in both. I’ve even had fun in the slowest cars with the Kei Car events.
Will this come for PC?
I’ve played every GT game and have some neet saves from my ps2 to my ps3. Grand turismos isn’t for everyone including but not limited to car enthusiasts that love the thrill of driving a group C car or even a gt3 Ferrari etc. Aside from game mechanics and functions I still enjoy every and take every bit of game play I can get out of GT7 and not to mention the soundtrack! One of a kind ❤️🔥

FPS upscaler just lost its mind for some times, but overall this is great
For me GT7 is a solid 60fps on 4k and I use resolution mode in ps5 game presets. Although I noticed games dont run and look good in ps5 performance preset idk why and rain in this game is not as good as I thought it would be, other then that it's gorgeous.
Performance mode only affects replays by removing ray tracing

I just wish they would have left the ps4 behind with GT7. It’s not fair, this game and many others have to sacrifice their capabilities just so last gen can play it too. Three years and we are still being chained down by old gen. Where was this support when I had my ps3

@@zekiler14 Lol, immersion is not only about hardware power kiddo, It's also about how good the actual game looks....you can get a 3090TI and apply 100000000 different mods on your PC game and it will still look like cartoon compared to GT7 cause the base assets themselves are of much higher quality in GT, post processing effects can't negate that, GT7 on PS5 with a DD wheel setup and PSVR2 would be the most immersive way to play a racing game, it is just a matter of time...keep coping though

It looks great, it really does. But the handling looks so weird sometimes. I am not going to pay 700 euro's for the graphics alone (to play it I need to buy a PS5, IF I could get one). And even then, I could not play it with my DD wheelbase....But if Sony brings it to PC one day, I'll try it out for sure.

Off topic…. ish…… does any know of a good vr enabled sim that has realistic manual/clutch gearing? Including potential to stall engine?
Assetto Corsa comes to mind because it runs so smoothly but even though the clutch is simulated you can’t really stall the engine (it will only reach 0 rpm when you stand still in gear and the engine will start going again on every car if you press the gas pedal). I’d say AMS2 is a good bet. You can stall the car, even blow the engine and has very good vr support.

Some people will love it, some will hate it. It depends on how much tolerance to annoyance and stupid developer decisions you have.
Just wait until GT Sophy is added to the game, AI races will be on another level😱
We can only hope. So far Sophy has only been demonstrated doing crazy hotlaps. No word about its racecraft or driver awareness, which matters infinitely more.
@@Ermz You can stop hoping. We dont even know what kind of hardware is required to run this AI but its for sure it wont be able to run parallel to all the game code its already running.... Maybe they will make a mode where you connect two PS5s and then you can play against 1v1 vs advanced AI😂
@@Ermz did they not show a race where GT Sophy went up against some top drivers? It looked pretty interesting then,, although @MrFatuchi makes a good point in saying tha we don't really know how the AI will run on the hardware. Maybe some kind of cloud-based AI? xD
@@mrfatuchi to develop and train the sophy AI it needs a lot of power to do so to run the actual AI model it doesn’t take that much and will run fine on a PS5

my comment is not so in favour of this "game" if I exclude photorealism which is absolutely #1... but the ideal title to me is a mix of GT7 and ACC which does not exist... yet.
When it comes to colour accuracy Forza 8 won't even come close.
while I appreciate you trying to make the game look as good as possible with the 60fps conversion, I would have preferred you left the game in it's real state! colteastwood did that with StarField making a fake 60fps trailer and I complained and I'll have to do the same here even though I LOVE Gran Turismo
Gt7 is beautiful game proably the best looking cars of any racing game i have seen i just switch over for assetto corsa on pc will be back gt7 once more content is there, maybe to christmas, assetto corsa must be overall the best racing game, it has everything on offer, every car you can think off, crazy free roam maps with ai traffic, even the option to upgrade cars if you want to, so you don’t even lose on anything expect maybe customization, but pretty much superior on anything else, i have owned assetto corsa for Xbox one before and i can say its not the same as pc, på version is masterpiece, while console versions actully suck, i am intrested too see what ac2 brings in 2024 hopefully it brings mods as first game😊
How is the customisation in GT7? cuz technically you can do literally anything you want in AC if you know how to make skins. But if GT7 does the same but makes it easier than GT7 wins out of course.
@@twandepan the customization is quite good in gt7 you can wide body almost any road car, aero and front splitters to improve track perfomence, yes you can pretty much do anything in assetto corsa, but you can’t customize it with aero parts or widebodies like gt7, that has to be made with modders when the create the car, their is livery editor also in gt7, i am still hopefull ac2 will bring some new features like a Livery editor, i heard that ac2 might feature car garage and that you need to maintenance your cars, you do that in gt7 too, like changeing oil and at times you need to overhaul the engine

Immersive as long as you're not using a DD1. The visuals are epic and I can say the same about the sound. The FFB severely let's this sim down. I refuse to delete but am reluctant to play based on the lack of feel.
I might be doing it wrong, so am open for anyone to share their DD1 FFB settings
I use a DD1 podium on it and it feels great. I'm not home at the moment so I can't share my settings but I know I'm not using the recommended settings they have way too much dampening
@@hughxthexhand I've tweaked it a bit and it feels not too bad. It feels like I can get more out if it but it feels like it's clipping in lomg high load corners. It's like it feels a bit dead. If you could share your settings that would be mint
@@louiejenkins6369 I won't be home for a few days. Are you sure it's clipping? I've never experienced clipping on the dd1, could it be just under steer?. If it is clipping then turn the ffb down by one in game not the base

Your vids are excellent but never use AI for frame reconstruction - motion artifacts are very visible. GTs 30fps replay mode is great by itself, you barely can improve it beside disabling ray-tracing,

The r32 skyline with the colour change paint looks awesome, the hood 1 colour and the bumper another highlights the lighting models details, all replays actually life like, can't wait to play

@@anotheryoutubeaccount5259 The tyre model is bad, it has major issues, drivetrain simulation is bad, add to that bad FFB and you have an awful combo, the cars react in way that aren't realistic and because you have almost no feeling of what the car is through FFB it's hard to drive like you would a real car, these issues can easily be seen the moment you try to drift.
They are scared of launching on PC for it will get even worse reviews.

It's a normal, current Gen, looking Game. But i still like it a lot.
how can art be "normal" and "current gen", graphics is not only about shader performance.

The complaints about graphics are dumb to me. The PS5 has performance similar to that of a RTX 2070 there abouts broadly speaking. The fact that it does ANYTHING in near 4K is kind of a marvel. The pant shitting about ray tracing really is pathetic. People with 3080s won't use RT natively because it just DOESN'T work, and I don't think the PS5 uses any form of temporal upscaling/lacks an AMD equivalent to DLSS, so what you're getting is pretty damn impressive.
It bugs me that people just do not know how the hardware they're criticising works. You have no excuse now, there are SO many resources to help you understand what you're talking about.
I'd say that modded Assetto Corsa wins in the graphics department, but the raytracing is hard to beat
I mean it’s not like most PC’s that can run Assetto with tons of graphics mods aren’t equipped with RTX.

I used to love this channel. You were hilarious and mostly down to earth. This channel has turned into a GT7 is so great channel. The equivalent of telling us this car is so awesome because look at the paint job on it.....meanwhile, inside the car is a total lemon. I really miss the old format bro.

I played GT 4, 5 and 6 this week on real hardware. You don't know just how bad GT7 is until you re visit the old ones. The handling on the kerbs is completely broken in GT7
Now imagine, how the next forza motorsport will looks like?
Probably similar or equal to GT7 imo, both great games with flaws, nowadays games come up with some flaws, look at ACC for example, it was a game with some flaws and now it's a pretty good and fun game, I just hate the fact that some people just play 1 or 2 racing games that being GT or Forza for example and complain about it every freaking time, both games are good im their way, they have their highs and their lows
When a racing game/sim have 1:1 identical sounds like real life cars of marks like Lambo, Ferrari,… then it’s already 50% succes in my eyes. And then 50% physics and done deal ! Because I NEVER EVER get bored of real life sounding Lambo’s & Ferrari’s and all other super/sportcars but in some games/sims some cars really sound boring and not like real life to be honest. If interior and exterior sounds would be the same like real life… wouldn’t that be superb ? You tell me peoples. 🏁🏁👍 But I enjoy ACC, Forza Horizon 5, Assetto Corsa, and all others in their own way. 💯
I wish the penalty was so strong for knocking another car off the track that racers would have to stop or lose the race. Bumping is racing but punting or dangerous aggressive driving should be banned. This type of driving in this video is a beautiful form of art.

I wouldn't call what we got on GT7 a career mode. It's just something thrown together to try to please single player people like me and I don't like it. I've cleared most of GT7 and I don't have any reason to replay it. I don't play online and I don't pay for the online portion of playstation. Also the only way to start fresh in GT7 is to create a new playstation account which is absolutely dumb.
I was looking forward to GT7 but when I finally got it I was completely dissapointed with it. I wish they added a proper career campaign mode and the ability to start over.
did you already do all the GR.1/4 races and the extra menu books? I've found those to be WAY more challenging and technical than the base game since those have true balance of power and smart AI

While I do appreciate your effort in putting this together, I kind of feel like this race for graphical improvements has diminishing returns. I feel like there are older games that already successfuly managed to look realistic and there isn’t really a space to beat it by a noticeably big margin anymore imo. I would like to see more deviation from trying to look realistic and isntead go for distinct visual style, there is a bigger room for ability to impress imo.
I am looking forward to more of you instead:) I really like your style and humour you are putting in creating some videos and I don’t really care about the type of content, as long as it will be entertaining and informative as well.
Interviews are very rare on your channel, I would love to see more of those, whether it would be drivers, developers or engineers:)
To me even the good old Racedriver: GRID from 2008 (or so) looks very good except a few low res textures here and there, so I stopped caring about graphical improvements about ten years ago. Since then the graphics are definitely good enough.
@@eli_7295 me too and then I started caring again, when I have seen rFactor 2 and RaceRoom :) Seriously though, Codemasters always knew, how to make their titles look like eyecandy and all they have to do is to slap a right combination of visual filters on the game. They should outsource their instagram filter skills to sim companies:)
