All kudos to ST. JOE"s in bringing forward yet another KEN NORMAN PRODUCTION. G bugle Drum & bugle corps would have been dead but for KEN NORMAN and the lives of those he touched and so freely gave to. God bless his memory, and may all of us who knew him HONOR him and give back.
This is a great testament to what the drum corps activity meant to so many of us growing up in the 50's, 60's, and 70's. I had the pleasure of playing with St. Joe's a decade later and reliving the excitement. We were very lucky to grow up when we did!
I'm from the UK and marched with the Basildon Blue Eagles before aging out in 1979. I have a good friend in the US who marched with the Blessed Sacrament Golden Knights in the 1960s. He always used to say that modern drum corps was not a patch on REAL drum Corps from his time. now I understand what he meant. I absolutely loved it.
Thank you to all who marched and put this together in 1995. This is my first time seeing it. Very much appreciated! I always wondered how things looked then. Impressive!
Riversider from Brooklyn New York watching, 68 to 72. St Joe's was an example for My Drum Corps The Riversiders The older Riversiders that were teaching us raved about Saint Joe's. St. Joe's was excellent but especially I like their drill an M&M. St Joe's was exceptionally good an a example to many drum Corps. February 11th 2023
Today the marching band competition, superimposed on a three ring circus. Absolutely nothing to do with, real drum and bugle Corp. DCI, has destroyed this once great activity.
@@justMikec Mike, I marched in Jersey corps, briefly St. Lucy's, had to leave. Then Manville Sacred Heart Crusaders till aging out. Went to Sunrisers late '72 to '73. Always liked St . Joseph's, a great all time dtum corps. By the way, my grandmother, my dad's mother, grew up in Le Roy. Moved Downstate to Brooklyn. Hope St. Joe's is still active, Alumni or competition. Would love to catch yu guys in exhibition if your down in Jersey.
@@tommcconville4270 - Hope you're staying healthy Tom. Yes, St Joes is still active as an alumni corps. At least as active as anyone is during the COVID-19 business. If we ever start traveling again, we'll try to aim a performance in your direction. Maybe, if nothing else, we can put up another video.
That video was videographed and produced by non other than "SVP VIDEO PRODUCTIONS" Buffalo NY. Shot entirely by Daniel A Summerville. Video & Audio editing by Daniel A Summeville & Doug Mellenthine.
I agree 100%, brought tears to my eyes and I did get choked up. One of the greatest drum and bugle Corps, in the history of the activity. Today is May 24th 2022. So much emotion and excitement throughout the entire performance. Something you rarely see at a DCI competition today, and that is standing ovation after standing ovation. Unfortunately we no longer have real drum and bugle Corp. Today it's a marching band superimposed on the three ring circus.
ONE OF THE GREAT DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS IN THE COUNTRY . IN 1968 NEW YORK STATE CHAMPIONSHIP 1'S PLACE, LONG ISLAND SUNRISES 1'S PLACE SR. DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS, GREAT MEMORIES. FORMER MEMBER OF THE LONG ISLAND SUNRISES 1964-1968.
Very enjoyable show. This is the first time I've seen this video. I have to wonder however: Why would an alumni corps play music from other corps. I heard The Cavaliers, The Royal Airs, The Kilties and shades of the Royal Airs in one of the drum solos? Big Spender was the only song I recongized from St. Joes.

Truly a great video ! Featuring Tommy Cecere, Jerry Tripp and Donny Allen soloing, a true essence of 60's Mighty St. Joe's.

OUTSTANDING!!! GREAT video. I remember their undefeated drum line in 1968.

DCI shows today is entertainment Beyond comparison but old-time Drum Corps such as St Joe's is drum and bugle Corps
Today the marching band competition, superimposed on a three ring circus. Absolutely nothing to do with, real drum and bugle Corp. DCI, has destroyed this once great activity.

Thank you so much for this video. Outstanding production really appreciate it. You captured the essence of the activity. Today is May 24th 2022.
My father, Bob, was in the corps, and my aunt Linda was guard captain , as well as my cousin Jean
The last push was powerful and emotional.
