I absolutely loved being a member of Mighty St. Joe's along with my husband, Ron. These were some of the best years of our lives. I will never forget feeling like family with all the members. ❤🎉
I was out there playing for this one!!!!!!! CAKES
All of those dorks trying to conduct, at least be on the same page.
My favorite performance from that era.
no where else on the planet could you get acoustic music power like this, pretty frickin special. entertain the crowd and pin them to their seats baby
I remember sitting with Mrs. Dick Keough one of the founders of the Cambridge Caballeros
The Crusaders went on first at the AL Nats. It hurt them. Crusaders won several times against the Cavs. I personally liked the Crusaders best.
We didn't win any shows in '67. It was very disappointing.
😮 WOW
when the cabs came to Rochester ny, i would get a seat right behind the judges , that horn line would take you out of your seat
In 1968, the mighty Saint Joe's were the New York state champions, in the Long Island Sunrise with a New York state champions they won the junior division, and we won the senior division 🎉
Largely self taught, couldn't read music. Amazing video. No microphones. Volunteer instructors. TY
Is that a Splooie at 0:22
Just watched the entire Thanksgiving Day Macy's Parade 2023 and had to strain my eyes to see a color guard with the American flag in it. So I'm coming back to this video to watch the mighty St Joe's....
The Riversiders, Orange and Black, Back in 68, you all were to aim for. Thank you Alumni St Joe's.
WOW ! . . . . . Powerful, High Energy and a Great Corps.
Hawthorne with shakos 😂
Who were the soprano soloists that year
My father, Bob, was in the corps, and my aunt Linda was guard captain , as well as my cousin Jean
Such a powerful number! I always associate it to the great Cavies of the 60’s
If this is when the troopers where in Jersey city I was there
Directed by Ken Norman
The mighty St Joe's, from Batavia New York. They were the New York state champions back in 1968, and the junior division. The Long Island, sunrises, won the New York state championship in, 1968, both, drum Corps, are on the same recording from Fleetwood, I still have that album. St Joe's is on the jacket of the recording it's an LP 33 and a third LP, and is a photograph of the Long Island sun rises on the backside. The Long Island sunrises, won the American Legion National Championship in New Orleans Louisiana the same year. I am only member of the Long Island sunrises from 1964 through 1968. The person that made this recording, is very much a amateur, but none-the-less did a very good job. And unfortunately this was not one of the better performances by the mighty St Joe's. I have other recordings where they absolutely nailed it. We are all entitled to an off-day. Today is February 15th 2023. Thank you for the post, I appreciate it.
Breathtaking.
Riversider from Brooklyn New York watching, 68 to 72. St Joe's was an example for My Drum Corps The Riversiders The older Riversiders that were teaching us raved about Saint Joe's. St. Joe's was excellent but especially I like their drill an M&M. St Joe's was exceptionally good an a example to many drum Corps. February 11th 2023
Those were the great days ! Myself and brother played with the Kenosha Kingsmen
Life after drum corp.more drum corp.go alumni
Nothing Better Than Holton & Holton Ludwig Classic Bugles ! Wonder what ? corps is behind the Cavies on the starting line ? Go Kenosha Kingsmen Go Army
what is the title around 18:14 mins? Thankyou
1967, I was a member of the Long Island sunrises drum and bugle c o r p s. It's funny that we didn't not make finals, because the course that beat us into finals we have been beating most of the season, it's ironic that we did not qualify the finals at night? Nonetheless the Cavaliers outstanding one of my all-time favorite drum c o r p s. My top four are, Blessed Sacrament golden knights, Chicago Cavaliers, Garfield Cadets, St Kevin's Emerald Knights. Not necessarily in this order. Today's date is August 30th 2022. We no longer have real drum and bugle Corps. May they all rest in peace. The activity now is a marching band competition, superimposed on the three-ring circus. When you see these bands on the field that's the first thing that comes to mind a three-ring circus with all the props, drummers juggling dancing and prancing singing electric guitars trombones you name it it's all on the field. Get you dizzy. Not for me. No offense against these marching bands, this is what they do as an activity and I'm glad they enjoy it.
My Dad, loved his drum corp. it was a great time for him.
Wow. That was unbelievable!!!! As a member of the Yankee Rebels and Blessed Sacrament Alumni Corps, after coming back to drum corps in 2000, I'm sorry I missed that big show.
I was a member of Mighty St Joes in 1963 & 1964 !!
Wasn't st Joe's of newark also called mighty st Joe's???
I believe you are correct?
No.St.Joes Patrons from Brooklyn
Very enjoyable show. This is the first time I've seen this video. I have to wonder however: Why would an alumni corps play music from other corps. I heard The Cavaliers, The Royal Airs, The Kilties and shades of the Royal Airs in one of the drum solos? Big Spender was the only song I recongized from St. Joes.
Out of respect for old time drum corps
In 1968 st. Joe's Batavia won the New York state championship in the junior division. At the same time the Long Island Sunrisers drum and bugle Corp, won the senior division New York state champions in 1968. Fleetwood record made a recording of the Saint Joe's Batavia on one side and the Long Island Sunrisers on the other side. Thank you so very much for posting this. Former member of the Long Island Sunrisers 1964 through 1968.
I've always wished that St Joe's alumni would compete in senior competition, I think they would have done exceptionally well, with a great great hornline and a great great great Drumline. St. Joseph Batavia, and the Long Island Sunrisers have something in common, that is we both won the 1968 New York state championship. This post is on 12 2221. Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year.
In 1968 st. Joe's Batavia won the New York state championship, in the junior division. 1968-d Long Island Sunrise has won the New York state championship senior division. It was a great honor to be on a recording made by Fleetwood, with Saint Joe's on one side and the sunrises on the other side. Former member of the Long Island Sunrisers 1964 through 1968.
In 1968 st. Joe's Batavia took first place in the New York state championship, in the junior division. And the Long Island sunrises, drum and bugle Corp took first place in the senior division. A great year for both Corps. Former member of the Long Island Sunrisers 1964 through 1968.
Still brings chills to my spine!
Absolutely, my rookie year in High school Marching band we played Bully as we stepped off the line. We kicked butt at all the competitions we went to. This Drum Corps is Stellar!!!!
Rest In Peace Amigo Kenny..
All kudos to ST. JOE"s in bringing forward yet another KEN NORMAN PRODUCTION. G bugle Drum & bugle corps would have been dead but for KEN NORMAN and the lives of those he touched and so freely gave to. God bless his memory, and may all of us who knew him HONOR him and give back.
Gosh they played it better than we did in 1967.
Ken Norman passed away on May 9th. Requiescat in Pace.
I wish you a quick recovery Kenny. Take it easy on the nurses, huh?
Fleetwood records made a recording of the New York State championship Sun rises on the front and st. Joe's on reverse side
One of the greatest Junior drum and bugle Corps in the history of the activity. Saint Joe's alumni Corps is repeating history bringing St Joe's back to the world thank you very much from one of your great fans and former member of the Long Island Sunrisers 64 through 68
生まれてまだ1歳、15年後日本のdrum corpsに入隊したよ〜。
Always a fantastic brass line and percussion section from Mighty St. Joe's! From the sixties and seventies in their heyday to the present year 2021. Who else can play Bully as superbly as the Cavaliers do it n this day and age of drum corps? NOBODY! And the that triple tongue soprano solo in it is outtasight man!
Now this is drum corps, Knock your ass right out the stadium.
Boy, did you hit the nail on the head.
I was one of the snare drummers in this incredible show. I can't believe that drum solo with the stick flipping. Nobody ever dropped a stick. I look at it and think: "How the heck did I ever do that?" At 5:20, I'm the second snare going left to right.
