I like it , whether people like it or dislike it it doesn't matter it's for the people that are beginners that will be interested male or female so do please make more videos with Katie learning to use those tools
Katie's Korner sounds great. Mark, you and Katie are allowing those viewers who either don't know enough to ask questions or are intimidated to ask questions to see that power tools are not toys, safety is number 1. The more a person builds confidence without losing respect for the mindless tools, the better their work becomes. Great video, Thank ou both for sharing.. Jack
I just got a Skil 30 bit for my router for Christmas. I tried a few of them this morning and also tried the Keyhole bit. I realized right away that I needed some instruction on how to use this particular bit. Your video was extremely helpful. Thank you.
1. I love seeing more women take on these tasks 2. you have great patience and allow Katie to learn (at least on camera :) ) 3. I thought this can only be done with a plunge router which I do not have and did not think to start with a drill bit. Thank you and keep them coming
Great idea. My wife Sandy works in our shop with me all of the time. Mastered all of our tools including 8” jointer and 15” industrial planer, drum sander, bandsaw and of course the table saw. She even has her own midi lathe and scroll saw. Keep it up Katie. Like Katie’s Corner.
Great video! This should definitely become a regular series of videos. Not all of us are as skilled and knowledgeable as Mark when it comes to tools so it's great to see some projects more at my level!
I like Katie's Corner. I like the idea of teaching orhers that are new to woodworking by teaching Katie. It can be simple and basic, it can also be very in-depth to give as much understanding for safety. I would like to suggest the option of using hand tools. This can show the comparison of traditional woodworking to the modern tools of today. It can give one more option for doing woodworking within a budget or a preferred way for the enjoyment of doing a project the traditional way our ancestors did thei projects. This will be a great learning experience for all. Thank you for sharing this segment with us!
Taught my wife to use a sabre saw because she bought templates to make xmas yard decorations out of 4 sheets of plywood. She was scared at first but now i dont have to cutout stuff for her craft projects and she got pretty good using that tool. She now has yard decorations for several more years but we live 20 miles from town on a gravel road, but she is happy.
All these guys on here saying their wife is interested but intimidated - you were able to support your wife in getting past that initial hesitation. That takes you trusting her competence, and her trusting you won't be a jerk about it. Seems basic but apparently not overly common. Kudos to you both.
I'd recomend starting the router once it's in the keyhole. That will avoid having to try and fit it in while running, and avoiding it accidentally cutting the surface outside of the keyhole which you can see just barely happened in this video. Other than that awesome video
Good Job Katie! I look forward to the series. I think this could be a reminder for us more experienced woodworkers what it was like when we started and/or a better ability to teach others ourselves.
Great idea. I think showing someone learning the basics, and getting better is good for other viewers to see. We've all started at some point ourselves, so I think seeing Katie get better could help other learners also see they can learn as well....and honestly I think everyone should know how to at least use some tools, so you can save money doing it yourself where possible.
This is perfect. My wife also wants to get more involved in my shop but is uneasy with handling power tools. A series like this will help boost her inner courage. I hope. BTW, Katie's Corner is perfect.
You mentioned two things that I have learned the hard way over the years of woodworking. It always a good idea to drill a pilot hole first especially if you are using a larger bit. Second, always cut a sample piece beforehand to make sure your settings are correct. Good luck!
Great stuff Katie, should be more of this kind of stuff, there is no reason why women cannot do this kind of thing.. there are already a few women who have their own channel that I watch and they make beautiful wooden items and furniture.
Love it when Katie has her classes with you. Especially when she does the instructing. When I was learning woodturning, my mentor always said "see, do, teach" was the best way to pick up a skill. As far as the logo goes, I like the design as a jumping of point, but it needs a feminine touch...like pastel colors and ivy-like curlicues. :)
Nice work!! It's fun when the better half has fun with the tools. Makes buying new ones SO much easier!!! Was I the only one who saw the hanging cutting board by the knives and thought that would turn into a knife throwing target after a few drinks with the guys... Oh and Mark.. You're batting out if you league!!! Cheers!! Keep it coming
You go Katie!!! soon you will be running the show!! I love the fact you are doing this you already inspired my wife to make pens!! Keep up the Great work!!
That is cool as shit that she wants to learn your business/hobby. Most women don't even try to understand what drives you as long as the money keeps coming in. BRAVO KATIE!
Awesome! A family that plays together stays together! Keep it up kiddos! I've been watching a few of your videos and now I'm hooked. Y'all got a new subscriber. 😎👍
Well done Katie good job on that board, and picking the Router to use as one of your first tools was a bold decision, as using the Router is hard to get the feel of and you did it spot on, so well done again. Also Katies Corner sounds good to me. Barry (ENG)
This is great! Such a cool idea, and it’s wonderful for people to watch others learn. It helps with confidence and seeing that we all make mistakes and have the same path on the learning curve. When we only see people do things perfect, it can be really discouraging as we feel like we’re not good enough to stick with the hobbies and projects.
Katie: Great job Katie, the idea of the keyhole that gave the cutting board a secondary purpose was a smart one. Mark: I'm glad Katie is interested in learning your craft and doing her own thing with it, and if you haven't already done so, I hope you become more interested and involved in something she likes to do. After all, marriage is a 100/100 partnership. Anyone that thinks that it's less than that, isn't putting their whole effort into the relationship. I'm a month and a half away from being married 40 years, so I know a little about keeping a relationship together. Dang, am I really that old?!
Both of you did an awesome job and I learned a few tips as well. I’ve always done Keyholes on the router table using stops and know I’ve seen a good example of doing it semi free hand. And I think Katie’s Corner is a great name for the segment. Ron
I like 'Katies Corner'. Its a great idea. You could periodically do a video of your own and in it give Katie a little job to do and in the video say. "Now lets nip over to Katies Corner and see how's she is doing with that task I set her" then see her piece.
I like that idea! Rolling them into a bigger project would definitely make it last longer. Eventually she will know all the tools and these simple segments won't feel very interesting.
I love the feel of this video. I hope to work with my girlfriend/future wife like you guys. Nice video. One tip because I cringed. I know someone who was routing and it kicked back and instantly took off three fingers. To avoid this mistake sit your router down on the work piece in it’s starting position and then turn it on. You should never attempt to line up and insert a spinning bit. Though for this application a plunger base will be the best solution. Great job though.
What did you have to do to get her into the shop to actually work on something? Lol. The only time my wife comes into my shop is if I’m wanting to show her something, she’s leaving to go somewhere, or coming home from wherever lol. Great video.
I like it , whether people like it or dislike it it doesn't matter it's for the people that are beginners that will be interested male or female so do please make more videos with Katie learning to use those tools
She's putting together her own list, so there will be more!
I like the idea of Katie's Corner as a name and the idea of a series of beginner level videos.
Katie's Korner sounds great. Katie’s Corner has a good ring to it. Good segment.
Thanks Andy!
I just got a Skil 30 bit for my router for Christmas. I tried a few of them this morning and also tried the Keyhole bit. I realized right away that I needed some instruction on how to use this particular bit. Your video was extremely helpful. Thank you.
Awesome. Looking forward to more Katie content. Very fun and refreshing type of video.
I do like Katie's Corner.
1. I love seeing more women take on these tasks 2. you have great patience and allow Katie to learn (at least on camera :) ) 3. I thought this can only be done with a plunge router which I do not have and did not think to start with a drill bit. Thank you and keep them coming
Thanks Anna! I'm glad it gave you some new insight!
That's awesome Dave!
Great video! This should definitely become a regular series of videos. Not all of us are as skilled and knowledgeable as Mark when it comes to tools so it's great to see some projects more at my level!
Haha, thanks Zach! It's hard to be as knowledgeable as me since that is a moving target - I tend to make up my knowledge as I go along!
I like Katie's Corner. I like the idea of teaching orhers that are new to woodworking by teaching Katie. It can be simple and basic, it can also be very in-depth to give as much understanding for safety.

Great job Katie!
Great job, Katie!! :) And great idea hanging up that beautiful board as an art piece!
I probably should make her another board with the bricks running the other way.

Way to go, Katie! This should be a great series. Katie's Corner sounds right to me.
GO KATIE!!!!!!!!!! YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!! Keep it up I want you to put out a video building your own designed project. GO GO GO!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the feedback. It's interesting to see that something as simple as changing a drill bit isn't exactly common knowledge.
Great idea. I think showing someone learning the basics, and getting better is good for other viewers to see. We've all started at some point ourselves, so I think seeing Katie get better could help other learners also see they can learn as well....and honestly I think everyone should know how to at least use some tools, so you can save money doing it yourself where possible.
Oh, I happened upon a keyhole router bit on sale at Lowes the other day. Remembering this video, I picked it up for some future project myself. Thx!
I like and love that Katie has started to be in the shop with you and even taking a small role as a wife in your shop with you.
This was an AWESOME video for someone who just bought a palm router with no clue how to drill keyholes! Subscribed!
You go, girl. I would love to see more of your projects. There is a myriad of projects that would help in the craft room and the kitchen.
This is perfect. My wife also wants to get more involved in my shop but is uneasy with handling power tools. A series like this will help boost her inner courage. I hope. BTW, Katie's Corner is perfect.

Thanks for the feedback Jason!
Awesome. Yours is the only video I can find that shows how to do it without a plunge router or router table.
I would think this will make you appreciate each other even more. Welcome, Katie. I clicked thumbs up to crush a troll.
Great job Katie.!!! I love Katie in the shop, she is so cute and seems so happy when she does her own job. Keep it up Katie.
Thanks! I'll let her know you said that!
Awesome job Katie
I think this is a wonderful presentation and a real benefit for a beginner wood worker. Well Done!
Way to go Katie!!!. Awesome job and this is great you wanting to learn things and being more involved. Next up The Mark and Katie Show
Before long it will just be Gunflint Designs, presented by Katie. I'll be phased out!
That's perfect you already did it!!!!!! KC backwards is CK Creating with Katie. Run with it, It's perfect!!!!!!!!!
I had that same idea... made me want to make an end-grain #unneccessarywalnut knife throwing board.
Yayyyyy More Katie!!!
You go Katie!!! soon you will be running the show!! I love the fact you are doing this you already inspired my wife to make pens!! Keep up the Great work!!
Thanks James! I'm glad to hear this is inspirational.
Go, Katie!
You did well on your first project. Keep it up.
Great video and idea.Looking forward to seeing her grow and learn. Thanks.
Love this!! Have my daughter watch her often! Building Confidence in the shop!
Bring it on... Looks like this could be alot of fun.... Good job 👍👍👍
Everybody need to learn how to use tools. Learning makes world bigger and better. Welcome to new world Katie. :) PS: I am still learning also... )
Well done Katie good job on that board, and picking the Router to use as one of your first tools was a bold decision, as using the Router is hard to get the feel of and you did it spot on, so well done again. Also Katies Corner sounds good to me.

Just what I needed. Thank you. Going to practice today
Great segment! Keyhole looks perfect and a great way to store and show off a high end cutting board
Nice first project. You did very well.
really like this video because you make it so simple for novices.
This is awesome! I like either: Katies Corner or Katies Creativity... I think that's what it was but either would be great. Hope to see more
Katie: Great job Katie, the idea of the keyhole that gave the cutting board a secondary purpose was a smart one.

Great video Mark and Katie Thanks for sharing it with us.👌👍😎JP

And I think Katie’s Corner is a great name for the segment.
Ron
Good job lady. Now i need to get my wife in the shop
Creating with Katie is a good one
Especially since C is for both Creating & Casey
Awesome job Katie, as a bonus I got a coupe of tips for when I use a router
Great video, guys! I like “Katie’s Corner.” It has a nice alliterative ring to it.
Alliterative, I did not know that version of the word!
Gunflint Designs You teach me that hanging a cutting board on the wall is a thing and I teach you a new word. We’re even. ;)
I like 'Katies Corner'. Its a great idea.
You could periodically do a video of your own and in it give Katie a little job to do and in the video say. "Now lets nip over to Katies Corner and see how's she is doing with that task I set her" then see her piece.

Thanks this was very informative. I love learning new things and Katie did a great job 👍🏼
Great job for both of you! Looking forward to watching some more.
Awesome! I am new to woodworking and tools so this will be a great way to learn
I love the feel of this video. I hope to work with my girlfriend/future wife like you guys. Nice video. One tip because I cringed. Awesome job and keep’em coming!
Sometimes you mom's just have to take things into your own hands and get it done. Great job Katie.
Katie did great, Katie's corner I like it---
Thanks!
I'm just getting into using routers and I find this pretty useful just for the little tips
good job Katie, try starting the router once you have it lined up in the hole, I think you'll find that easier
Great job! I like the logo and the segment idea!
Thanks guys. Really informative.. and really nicely delivered by both of you! Have subscribed and will be looking at your other videos!!
Love the woodpecker tools!
You are such a great couple together.
You did well Katie! I Always like it to see a women working wit "Mantools". Great video!
Thank you!
Well done!
Thank you Tharemy!
1000% awesome! Keep this up!
She just taught me how to do it, super.
You two are a good looking young couple and a great team. Keep going.
Thank you 🙌🏼

Good job !
Keep up the good work!
Katie's creations.

What size drill bit are you using for your pilot hole?
How’s the power of the wireless router... have been wondering if I should pull the trigger on one.
Nice video 👍
I haven't been able to bog it down yet. I love that little beast.
Word of advice when drilling holes you want to start off drilling in reverse starting off to illuminate any tear out
You go girl I am a women wood worker and love that you are willing to learn
Looks like fun. The last time my wife agreed with me was about 10 years ago...
i'll be trying this. Good job. You two are very cute.
Thanks!
I want that dewalt router so bad.
I'm pretty much in love with it.
What did you have to do to get her into the shop to actually work on something? Lol. The only time my wife comes into my shop is if I’m wanting to show her something, she’s leaving to go somewhere, or coming home from wherever lol. Great video.
dope.
Ahhh, I see what you did there.
You should cut your food on the side that faces the wall so the other side that’s seen will always look nice. JMHO 😊
Wouldn't the keyhole collect garbage ???
Nice cutting board, but not sure how practical it is after you find all those scratch mark behind that wall feeling out the slot :)
Its ok my workshop is bigger then my kitchen
