  • The drummers' website www.en.beatit.tv/ is testing the Yamaha EAD10 drum module with an accompanying sensor unit.
    en.beatit.tv/beatit-test-yamah...
    1. The test
The test was carried out in our own recording facility. We also used a Yamaha Stage Custom kit with factory heads on (clear ones on the toms and the kick drum, a coated one on the snare), which was provided by Avant Drum Shop. In the course of our test, we will present all the effects and preset sounds the device is equipped with, as well as the module sound, the mic sound, the combination of both, reverb and effect levels, metronome functions, the way of recording drum parts, as well as the use of the trigger pedal.
    2. Basic specification of the device tested:
    Manufacturer: Yamaha
    Model: EAD 10
Device type: Drum module + trigger/mic sensor
Dimensions: 260/138/63 mm (module), 76/78/88 mm (sensor)
    Weight: 654 g (module), 464 g (sensor)
    Record/playback: WAV (44.1 kHz, 16 bit, stereo)
    Memory: 32 MB
    Metronome: Yes
    USB: Yes
    MIDI: Yes
    Connector: 12V
    Kick drum trigger: Yes

I've watched at least 10 demos of the EAD10...& this is by far the best! I've never seen anyone incorporate the pads with the drums except you. Very inspiring...Thanks for this!

THANK YOU!... This video shows more about the product than the others combined. To know that I can change reverbs and voices easily, as well as blend in my acoustical sounds from the built in mic... amazing.
But your comment about adding sampling sounds is the real winner here. So, now I can copy my favorite snare from the studio, but play the cheap snare on stage, and the crowd is none the wiser. Haha.
Lastly, it also seems that it would also work well with blending in room mics and overheads into the studio mix.... I'm loving this.

    Hi -
    Thanks for the video.
Have you tried the EAD10 in live performance situation?
Any thoughts on the Sabian Sound Kit?
Trying to make a decision on which to get.

I've had the EAD for about 6 months now. It's does some cool stuff, but now I basically use it for the app. Does anyone else have problems with the click staying on for 75% of the tunes? Anyway, i disable it, mic my kit, and use the Rec N for vid. It's not very good if using big drums, or hearing cymbals, if they're placed a bit far. I need to update the firmware. Maybe that will get some of the glitches out?

thanks for this vid, it's the best I've seen so far on the ead10.
so is this module like a good alternative for miking a kit in live situations and will it not affect the cymbals too much?
the soundsamples will only be triggered if you use triggers, so the only effect you get on the entire kit are the scenes right?
alot of questions, sorry but it's a very interesting module.
    happy hollidays

Do you think it would pick up an extra floor tom and do you still need a drum amplifier or is the sound coming from the module or are you using headphones and that's what we are hearing. Lol , that's a lot of questions I know but just wondering how it operates.

    • @ENBeatitTV
      @ENBeatitTV  6 років тому +1

You can add whatever you want. more toms, more cymbals. We used headphones durring the test.

An extra FT might need some gain added to the right mic. As you get further away out of the "V" zone, the mics tend to pickup less accurately.

How do the built in snare samples sound? Do you think you could use a trigger on a mesh pad and it would sound ok?

    • @ENBeatitTV
      @ENBeatitTV  6 років тому

You can use tones of snare samples, not only from ead10. In our opinion the ead10 snare samples sound good. We can not tested using a trigger on a mesh pad. Ask somebody from Yamaha.
