My Dad passed away this morning I'm sitting in a cafe with my fiance who will never be able to meet him now. This song is playing over the radio. I was, not as active in my Father's life, we lived on the other side of the country for most of my life. Far from him, and unable to regularly visit. He didn't have many friends and relied on me and my sisters for company via calls. I wish I'd taken more of those calls. I wish that I had picked up the phone last Saturday. Oh God how I wish. I miss you Dad, even more now because your voice is gone, your laugh, your booming presence. You were so goofy Dad. So good. I will always miss you. I love you Dad

When I was 8 years old, my older sisters boyfriend taught me this song on piano. He started my true love and interest with music. In 2019 he lost his life in a car crash, now every time I hear this track I can’t help but appreciate how important of a person he was, not only for me, but for many others through his life. Hope he’s doing well up there.
My best friend played this song all the time up until he took his own life. I hadn’t heard it since. Then today it played on my works radio. Pretty sure my friend was letting me know he was with me.
He had a good heart, but life was something he could not deal with. No words to describe what I feel reading that. I've had my own struggles in life, but always managed to talk myself back from the edge of the cliff. God bless you, and please live every day of your life now in honor of your sweet, departed friend.
So I actually did this a few years ago -- just up and moved thousands of miles away one day with very little planning or forethought, bringing nothing with me except a suitcase full of clothes. It actually is cool to have a reset and become a new person and get rid of all the baggage you had where you came from. You can't completely run away from your past, but overall, I would recommend it.

I’m in Alabama. 30 years old and the sole income for my mother and sister since my father died 6 years ago. This song always struck a chord with me but more so now because there are days when I want to just pack up and leave to pursue my dream of acting in LA, but my conscience and heart would never let me watch them struggle. I will make it out there one day. So until then it’s baby steps here and slowly work towards getting to LA.
You don't need to be in LA to be an actor! Acting is still something that can be done even if you live in rural areas. You don't need to move to pursue your deams!
This so both inspires me and at the same time puts a mirror before me to reflect the image of failure. The comfort found: I know I can eventually move forward and escape the view of being vexed and rightly so but sometimes the mind works quicker than the heart.
It's funny - this song is written from such a sad perspective, but whenever I listen to it, I hear it from the girl's perspective of starting over somewhere new and finding out what she wants. For me it always feels more empowering than sad.

Damn ! As a 90's kid , i grew up on a song like this. Train , Snow patrol , Lifehouse , U2 , Coldplay , Hoobstak , Five for fighting , Keane...I want to go back. LIfe was tough , but music like this made life livable. Even Hip-hop and R&B were very decent back then...now...ughh

i suppose there are times that we all want to run away from the present moment of life. i have contemplated moving to boston from california twice. of course from a broken heart, from disappointment or something -- maybe that sunrise would be inspiring. maybe no one knowing me would be interesting. not really sure. but i'm very sure that we all walk our individual story alone...... thanks Augustana.... very cool song that helps the heart.

I’m in Alabama. 30 years old and the sole income for my mother and sister since my father died 6 years ago. This song always struck a chord with me but more so now because there are days when I want to just pack up and leave to pursue my dream of acting in LA, but my conscience and heart would never let me watch them struggle. I will make it out there one day. So until then it’s baby steps here and slowly work towards getting to LA.
You don't need to be in LA to be an actor! Acting is still something that can be done even if you live in rural areas. You don't need to move to pursue your deams!

This so both inspires me and at the same time puts a mirror before me to reflect the image of failure. The comfort found: I know I can eventually move forward and escape the view of being vexed and rightly so but sometimes the mind works quicker than the heart.
It's funny - this song is written from such a sad perspective, but whenever I listen to it, I hear it from the girl's perspective of starting over somewhere new and finding out what she wants. For me it always feels more empowering than sad.
