The great thing is, she understands how important this song is to so many people. Even now, she always sings it like she means it, never just runs through the motions. Love her 💕
I listened to your song during breast cancer treatment in Houston. I painted like maybe 30 or more pics. Stayed with my friend (she had the fancy thing called Alexa) I had your song on repeat. 3 year survivor now. This song reminds me we are all human and we need to take time to “just breathe”. 💓🎀
Congratulations! I just made three years post-treatment for endometrial cancer. It WAS terrifying getting in that chair for my first chemo treatment, not knowing how I would tolerate treatment, not knowing if it would work, so I get it! It's great that you found something to help you get through it.
It gets me teary eyed as well. You can feel her raw emotion through the airwaves without a doubt. So well done. Unlike most artists in that time frame she actually wrote and composed her stuff. I would take an Anna Nalick anyday over Taylor Swift whining about breaking up with 3/4 of Hollywood and her millions of clones that don't offer anything original or as meaningful as this song
I'm old as dirt and I just came upon this by accident. What a great song! I'm not sure why Anna didn't break out more into the big time. She's beautiful, talented, and has wonderful music. Gonna check out more of her tunes.
So my abusive father (I lived with him at the time) had a girlfriend , and she loved this song. But my dad accused her of stealing drugs. And that night, he kicked her out of the house to go stay at a hotel, but that night, she walked 5 miles home. And slept on the porch. My dad screamed at her, and I can't remember what happened after that. But all I know is that I haven't seen her since. And she loved this song. I really miss her, and I hope she is getting better and is happy.
Hey I hope your good in quarantine rn and I've also had a LOT of domestic violence until I was 8 (I'm 16 now) but im glad your with your mom now. I wish you the best. Much love ~ Kim lee
I wish this song would have won an Oscar, Golden Globe, Grammy, and been number one of the US charts. Probably the most underatted song ever. God Bless.
Didn't know it was on a soundtrack, I as a hetero black male, absolutely love this song, and it has more soul, than most Gospel hymns...... because it's real pain and the description of sorrow
This song will always take me back to my dad when he was in a coma and in his last months of life. I would sit by his bedside and hear this song and take that chorus literally to heart for him... JUST BREATHE... JUST BREATHE... I love and miss him, but one day we will meet again..
This song is one of the best written, not only because it’s a fucking masterpiece, but because it’s simple. It tells everything, in a smart way, and it rhymes. I can’t put into words how these lyrics speak to me. It deserved a much better video.
I agree. Such a missed opportunity. It’s her trying to be model-y the whole time, completely ignoring all the emotionally charged stories and situations of the lyrics.
I feel like the video was super calming. Reminding you to enjoy the little things like the flowers she plays with and art like the pictures hanging from the string in her room. Like the sheets of music she caresses. “Just Breathe”
It should have been more like the part where she sings "and I feel naked in front of the crowd cause these words are my diary screaming out loud and I know that you'll use them however you want to."
I'm actually here bc I heard a tune on some movie I watched that reminded me of this forgotten melody. Anna has such a gift for words and the chorus is what hooked me. The image I get in the first verse is that the two walk into an abortion clinic, and see fat they are judged by those already waiting. The sad truth is that this same verse could apply to churches I've attended. I know some who most definitely love Jesus, where their circumstances pushed them to have abortions. We're all broken, and have all made mistakes when life crashed down and we believed in error, that we had no other options.
“There’s a light at each end of this tunnel, you shout cause you’re just as far in as you’ll ever be out, and these mistakes you made you’ll just make them again, if you only try turning around.” HITS ME DEEP ASF EVERYTIME
Threatening the life it belongs to... Those words resonate, because as a poet, I often wake up with words I need to write down before I forget them and go back to sleep. It does feel like the words are eating you until you write them down. Anna, you're the best!
I love how the music drops out at 2:56 and it's just the vocal. On the Spotify version the music actually gets heavier there, I like this video version better, feels more raw.
Song saved my life. My dad had just died, my house was in foreclosure, and the day before I found my dog laying on the floor lifeless. I had been working with a customer to resolve an issue that was partly her fault and partly ours, and thought we had come to an amicable agreement. After she agreed to the resolution, she tore into my company, and then me personally for taking so long to come up with a resolution that she didn't like. Spoke to my senior rep, then my coach.... With all that had been going on, I was devastated. I almost walked out of the building (not because my coach blamed me for the bad call, just because I couldn't take it anymore), and probably would have wrapped my truck around a tree.... But one of my co-workers came up to me, but her earbuds in my ears, and made me listen to this song.
We are at an insane time in history when flask and sober is considered "dirty"; if someone can't hear those words without hitting the bottle, they have bigger problems than this song!
The greatest one-hit wonder in music history. An iconic, unforgettable song. Anna Nalick never had another hit, but it doesn't matter--she's a legend for this one alone.
That trite, overblown cliche "iconic" that says absolutely NOTHING just stifled your words because your use of that trite, overblown cliche, not a word at all, stood in the way...
@@James-pq3qq Isn't it a little trite and overblown to repeat the words "trite, overblown cliche" twice in a single sentence? Calm down, take a breath, and rewrite your comment properly.
I've watched several times the movie Griffin and Phoenix. It's beautiful. And this song is part of sound tracks of the movie and fitted perfectly. I just can't get enough!
Did not know it was on Grey's, passed on ever watching that so never heard it until obscure radio station in my area played it, back in 07, have loved it ever since. She has a wonderful voice.
Fantastic. This woman is not only drop dead gorgeous, but she also has an angels voice, and her song writing ability is rivaled by none. One of the best lines in a song ever: " 'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable and life's like an hourglass glued to the table...." Absolutely fantastic. She should be a HUGE star...somebody isn't doing right by Anna. Very few albums I can listen to all the way through...she has two that I can't get enough of....
I'm so sorry...u got this...life is precious...u are beautiful and u everything u do from this point on is a statement of how strong u are...he wants u to go on. Just breathe
I am glad to be able to watch this again on UA-cam. It had been removed from UA-cam a while ago (maybe because of the forbidden words in the song: "flask" and "sober"). Make sure that, whatever you do, you NEVER, EVER utter or write those words! Unless you want to burn in Hell for all Eternity!
a feeling of comfort of a rolling wave of understanding of inner feelings, wave after wave like a tide of the unattainable essence of things and the causal connection between them

This was all over the radio in 2005. I was a child at the time, raised mostly on country and 70s-80s pop-rock, but this struck a chord with me even then. Like Eddie Money sang, “I want to go back”. The nostalgia, bro.
I listen to this to get my mind off of my boyfriend (since he’s not doing a good job on doing his part). Because the song is so soothing, it decreases the chance of my anxiety and stress levels from going up. Whenever I get really scared or nervous about something, my anxiety levels begin to build up, sometimes causing seizures or tears to come into my eyes. This is the song that soothes my mind and keeps me less stressed and more calm and relaxed.
That first verse is hitting especially hard today of all days. My heart goes out to anyone in that situation, especially in states that just recently denied the right to proper care. You deserve better. We all deserve better.
Are you talking about murdering babies by ripping them to shreds with suction or stabbing them in the base of the skull when they pull the infant's head out of the birth canal? How is that proper care? You and your ilk just love death and killing, for selfish reasons.
I'm 65 & I've heard a lot of music over the years. This is one of the best songs I've ever heard. "Just as far in as you are out", I love that line. Btw, I'm a hardass Texas cowboy & I've never gotten through this video without tears in my eyes. It just gets in your heart & soul.

I listened to this song constantly during my time in the grippy sock hotel the summer before I turned 18. I’m 30 now, and though the memories of that rough patch in my life are still there, I see this song from a more positive perspective. Life and time will always move forward, so if you’re feeling overwhelmed by it all there’s nothing wrong with sitting down and just breathing and taking it all in.
Every time I hear this I can’t help but think of how kind Kyle Chandlers eyes are and the sadness and fright in Meredith’s. I’m not a Greys fan, but that is an absolute amazing heartfelt scene (paired with this song) in TV history. Just breathe….

The great thing is, she understands how important this song is to so many people. Even now, she always sings it like she means it, never just runs through the motions. Love her 💕
"Life is an hour glass glued to a table." A strikingly beautiful line with the shock of truth.
❤❤❤❤❤
Remember to get your yearly mammogram
🗣️AND THESE MISTAKES YOU MADE, YOU’LL JUST MAKE THEM AGAIN🗣️
One of the most devastating lines in music.
That a capella part after 3:00 hits just deep. Her eyes gets watering, it's just very emotional
Beautiful piece of music even 22 years after being released!!!
The song actually turned 20 years old on November 1st.
I'm old as dirt and I just came upon this by accident. What a great song! I'm not sure why Anna didn't break out more into the big time. She's beautiful, talented, and has wonderful music. Gonna check out more of her tunes.
Anyone else visit this video often, when we need some encouragement to "just Breath" ??
And I'm here again...
And Again ... July 2024
And again
and again August 2024
It's September 2024 and back again.
HI I hope you're safe and AWAY from your father, and/or that he has gotten help HIMSELF. Take care. - sure hope you and she are doing better.
@UCZm41v-BVcVcMFt6K39UCqQ thank you a lot. I live with my mom now!
i have made it to 65 good luck to you/.....
Hey I hope your good in quarantine rn and I've also had a LOT of domestic violence until I was 8 (I'm 16 now) but im glad your with your mom now. I wish you the best. Much love ~ Kim lee
@@averylevine.1835 thank you! I hope you're enjoying your quarantine! There are a lot of fighters on this world! Thank you for the support! 💖 -Lillie
Simply a masterpiece. The lyrics. The orchestra. Lovely.
LEXIE GREY IS COMING ❤
Someone said that this song reminds them of holding a bomb in there hands 🤣
She's back💯🎉
Merder ❤️
I'M CRYING 😭😭😭😭😭😭
YES
This song is getting me through the toughest time of my life. Thank you.
This song will always take me back to my dad when he was in a coma and in his last months of life. I would sit by his bedside and hear this song and take that chorus literally to heart for him...
JUST BREATHE...
JUST BREATHE...
I love and miss him, but one day we will meet again..
I lost my Dad too. My heart knows your pain and I wish you lots of light
Touching and heart breaking, sending love
Your words cut right through me.I watched my Dad pass after making the decision to end his suffering.Real recognizes real.💕
Amen!
This song is one of the best written, not only because it’s a fucking masterpiece, but because it’s simple. It tells everything, in a smart way, and it rhymes. I can’t put into words how these lyrics speak to me. It deserved a much better video.
I agree. Such a missed opportunity. It’s her trying to be model-y the whole time, completely ignoring all the emotionally charged stories and situations of the lyrics.
she and the song is beautifil.
@Eva's Edits she rolls through the lyrics as though it was all a fcukin game to her. Which it probably was.
The simplest of songs can make a profound impact on us like this song.
I been struggling with depression and wanting to just end it. This song just saved me tonight
I hope you are here today.
Each verse is like an emotional string being plucked. One of my favorite songs.
Everytime I hear this song it feels like there's a bomb on my hands
Nahum Rodrigues ahh ik
:'(
hahahahaha
😂😂
Like Meredith gray
“There’s a light at each end of this tunnel, you shout cause you’re just as far in as you’ll ever be out, and these mistakes you made you’ll just make them again, if you only try turning around.” HITS ME DEEP ASF EVERYTIME
This song doesn't get OLD. It's a real poptastic treat. Pity we don't see or hear Ms Nalick very often these days
Threatening the life it belongs to... Those words resonate, because as a poet, I often wake up with words I need to write down before I forget them and go back to sleep. It does feel like the words are eating you until you write them down. Anna, you're the best!
Wow 2:57 gave me chills, I never heard that a capella version, had a whole new rawness to it
I love how the music drops out at 2:56 and it's just the vocal.
Life has a way of turning completely upside down.
I wish you calm waters for the rest of yours. ☮️
We are at an insane time in history when flask and sober is considered "dirty"; if someone can't hear those words without hitting the bottle, they have bigger problems than this song!
😂 😂
It sounds like she sings, "He said down to the cock in his hand" lol
Snowflakes!
I literally paused my brain thinking, did I just hear “flask and sober” get bleeped out? WTF???? 😳
Yup, that's our new world.
One of the best songs ever written. It is philosophically significant. Some very intelligent person will study it in the future, mark my words.
One of my favorite songs from Anna Nacklick for over 20 years
I can listen to Anna Nalick "Wreck of the Day" album from start to finish without skipping a single song, that's how amazingly written each song is.
I never thought that this beautiful song is also performed by a beautiful woman😍🌹
I remember being 17 when this song came out, seeing the video, and @0:09 saying to myself, "Wow! That is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen!"
I love you Anna. Your song has been a part of my life for a long long time.
The greatest one-hit wonder in music history. An iconic, unforgettable song. Anna Nalick never had another hit, but it doesn't matter--she's a legend for this one alone.
true, and not enough mention of her voice, it's very pleasant and easy to listen to.
You are mistaken that she "never had another hit". Look up her other songs. Enjoy !
Only 7.9 million views ???
I must have watched this video half of those views !
Lets get those views up for this masterpiece.
I celebrated 4 yrrs aug 25th.CLEAN AND SOBER.ITS.A GOD THING WHICH IS.A GOOD THING
You Didn't let her Correct Just One Word, that ment everything to her. HER SOUL SCREAMING OUT LOUD. Love you Baby.
Clean? CLEAN? There was *nothing* explicit about this beautiful song!
Her voice is like silk on my face. The payoff is that the voice is matched to a beautiful woman.
I don't believe anyone else could do this song better. Heard this an listen to it for many moon's. Fabulous woman Bravo Bravo a Bella Donna ❤❤❤
Song is about abortion. . . .
You should check out her acoustic version, her and her acoustic guitarist. She's even more drop dead gorgeous in it ... Whew!!!
My husband just passed away last week and this song keeps me centered. Thank you Anna
I'm so sorry for your loss, my mother committed suicide when I was 16
@@marybeauvais3949 I m sorry about your Mom. That must have been really hard for you.
Prayers for you in this difficult time and in your loss
I'm so sorry...u got this...life is precious...u are beautiful and u everything u do from this point on is a statement of how strong u are...he wants u to go on. Just breathe
Kacey Musgrave’s new song too good to be true sounds just like this
Thank you! Came here to say this, didn't know the name.
Love this 6/8 feel. It reminds me of Billy Moon from Seattle...
At 2:58 when the music cuts out is so powerful. So glad to see this video back out there.
That was the last scene shot for the video.
MrGL1973 weird thing is the original video played her taking her breaths. It’s a powerful moment that truly shows the emotion behind the lyrics.
annanalick.blogspot.com/2010/05/32205.html?m=0 This entry discusses the bridge section which was the last take of the video shoot.
Sony kept filing copyright violations whenever the video was posted to non-Vevo channels in this version (with no censoring).
😂
How many views this video had before?
My sister Tina dedicated the song to me 1 year before she passed away with no warning. Rest in Paradise Sis I love and miss you so much
💜💜💜
Sorry for your loss my sister passed away February 1st from a blood clot
a feeling of comfort of a rolling wave of understanding of inner feelings, wave after wave like a tide of the unattainable essence of things and the causal connection between them
I just, October 2024 found this song. Well it found me and it is amazing.
I have loved this song ever since it came out. It just touched a nerve and it still does!
Same here Lisa! Loved it when I first heard it play on the radio
Same here
It's about abortion
@@Mike-ri3qv how is this song about abortion? Explain…nothing in this song is even close to being about abortion
Two AM and she calls me 'cause I'm still awake,
Can you help me unravel my latest mistake,
I don't love him, winter just wasn't my season
Yeah we walk through the doors, so accusing their eyes
Like they have any right at all to criticize, hypocrites,
You're all here for the very same reason
'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button girl,
So cradle your head in you hands
And breathe, just breathe,
Whoa breathe, just breathe
May he turn twenty one on the base at Fort Bliss
Just today he sat down to the flask in his fist,
Ain't been sober, since maybe October of last year.
Here in town you can tell he's been down for a while,
But my God it's so beautiful when the boy smiles,
Wanna hold him, maybe I'll just sing about it.
'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable,
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table.
No one can find the rewind button boys,
So cradle your head in your hands,
And breathe, just breathe,
Whoa breathe, just breathe
There's a light at each end of this tunnel, you shout
But you're just as far in as you'll ever be out
These mistakes you've made, you'll just make them again
If you only try turning around.
Two AM and I'm still awake, writing a song
If I get it all down on paper, its no longer
Inside of me, threatening the life it belongs to
And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd
'Cause these words are my diary, screaming out loud
And I know that you'll use them, however you want to
'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable,
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button now
Sing it if you understand.
And breathe, just breathe
Whoa breathe, just breathe,
Muchas muchas graaaaciiaaaas
Anna Nalick makes my heart go thumpity-thump. 🥰🥰
Volviendo después de ver el trailer del 17x10 en Grey's 😭😭😭💔
Yes! 😭
Me too. 💔😭
Cope, simp.
Yep, human life deserves to be treated as property and I can kill my property
I'm 65 & I've heard a lot of music over the years. This is one of the best songs I've ever heard. "Just as far in as you are out", I love that line. Btw, I'm a hardass Texas cowboy & I've never gotten through this video without tears in my eyes. It just gets in your heart & soul.
This has got to be one of the most beautiful and true songs I've heard in a while.
Listened to this song in college after i lost someone i loved, cried like a baby but loved this song for getting me through it.
Yes, grieving my mother's suicide when I was 16. This holiday season is very difficult as my husband walked out on me Sep.9th. I have been devastated and extremely hurt. Just got to remember to breathe. ❤️
I dont think I ever met a song as versatile that made me happy and sad at the same time. God Bless.
I haven't heard this in a hot minute. Forgot how much I loved this song.
Back here after they announced the return of LEXI GREY, after almost 9 seasons she is back. I'M SO HAPPY!
I listened to this and the sun started breaking through the rain.
If that isn't a message, I don't know what is.
Just breathe, everything will be ok.
Thank you for this beautiful contribution of artwork to the word!
I didn't know the song was about abortion either.
OMG, I haven't heard this song in more than 10 years, completely forgot about it and got it in my recommendations. Clicked on it because something about the name sounded familiar. Now listening. Chills!
Hi, great comment! She actually has two new albums out and one of them is all covers! I'd really appreciate if you'd give it a listen to and consider purchasing her music through her website. She is so wildly underrated! If you have any kind of reach on social media I'd appreciate it if you could give her a little shout out! Thank you! 🙏
If you like this song, and we all do cause we are here watching ...
find the version where she tried to sing live in Albany but had laryngitis.
The audience spontaneously sang this song to Anna ! That was MAGICAL !!!
Watch it, you'll agree.
anna nalik's handwritten song is precious, God bless you, pensive women...I'm thankful
damn…i remember listening to this song about 10 years ago…and here i am 10 years later finding it again… crazy how time passes… i still know it by heart…
You know that feeling when you come home and everything is clean and tidy? That’s what this song is for my ears and heart.
Still Grabs me and won't let me go. Just beautiful!! ❤
Voice of a straight angel !!! Beautiful !! Don’t make like music like this anymore
Just breathe….
there is alot of genius in this song. Almost to a level unmatched and understood. This woman is something. Very intelligent.
