Thanks for your post. I have a Rock Island m206 which is based on the Colt Detective Special and I'm pleased by its performance. BTW, my first personal handgun was a Colt Trooper .357 Magnum with a 6" barrel. I purchased it for use during my ship's patrols of the coast of South Vietnam where we interdicted sampans, junks and suspicious merchant vessels.
It's beautiful......I came across a lightly used1994 Colt Detective Special in a gun shop right around that time. It has the factory Pach type grips with the Colt logo. Learned that Colt put that generation out in 93,94 & 95. It's still tight and in great shape.
I have a Colt Detective Special (fourth series or generation) blued with the black rubber grips ~1994 vintage. Did not have any Colts and was a pleasant surprise and with some practice find it to be a great little carry gun with those 6 vs 5 rounds. If you are curious did do a video or two on my channel sharing it. Thanks and enjoy Mr. Firearm Patriot.

@@CapoKabar no, when you pulled the trigger, the trigger did not follow through to release the hammer nor did the cylinder advance....Colt did not have the part in their inventory so my MasTER GUNSMITH MADE THE PART.....This happened twice, that that part needed to be replaced.....My Gunsmith told me it happened because the gun could not handle the more powerful loads i shot....+P factory.....
@@LyleSmith-q3e welcome, you really do not need +p's....i have a sw360pd 38/357 weighs 11.7oz, i do not fire +p's, and i never fire 357's because it's too light a weapon and it will hurt. my hand.,,,,,,No, no over penetration issues because i carry 38 cal. full wadcutters, and that round will do the job....

I have a Colt Detective special here with the newer barrel shroud etc, serial number on Colt site says 1971 ?? how is this possible?
Not really sure. I do not that on Colt's Serial Number look up, it states that these are approximate dates and should not be relied on.
Mines a 2nd Gen, Colt hit a home run in this pistol! Made by Colt!
Yes they did!
"Large frame" ?
