Chase Elliott has won the NASCAR Cup Series Most Popular Driver Award for the last six years. With that popularity, his voice matters - or at least it should. The 2020 champ told Jeff Gluck in an interview what major change he thinks would improve NASCAR that is similar to what other sports do and why he thinks fans would be happy about it. Will the sanctioning body listen?
NBC announced today a big change is coming for their Daytona broadcast and this attempt to improve the fan experience will also be implemented in the coverage at Atlanta and Talladega.
Kyle Busch took a jab at Joey Logano on Saturday at Michigan. A couple of days later after the completion of the rain-delayed race, the two-time champion took aim at RFK Racing driver and 2012 champ Brad Keselowski.
In our By the Numbers segment, we break down some almost-unbelievable numbers for Kyle Larson, Tyler Reddick, and Christopher Bell and there are definitely some surprises up near the top of our Last 5 Races analysis.

Whare is the line? If NASCAR doesn't have a hard defined line how are we supposed to know what's okay and what's not? Obviously there are extremes that are easy to judge but this is going to turn into a situation where one person gets a penalty and another person who does exact same thing doesn't because it's fuzzy and it could go either way. When it gets fuzzy like that , that's when things like popular drivers get away with stuff and not so popular drivers dont. When nascar wets their finger sticks up in the air and sees which way the wind is blowing to determine whether or not a driver gets a penalty. You either penalize all dirty driving or none of it. Or you make a hard line that isnt " We will know it when we see it"

I agree the popular drivers get away with wrecking now Austin does it then he crosses the line. What line the line of popular and not so popular? I am a Hendrix team myself but I like Austin and he did what they have been doing but because he took out Crybaby Joey and Smirk face Denny then he crossed the line! Why didn’t they make the line when these guys have done it over and over.

Because it's common sense! A little bump and run is ok. Running somebody high or low is ok! But not giving someone a chance is not ok. Wiping someone out like what Austin did is clearly not ok and if you can't understand that you are a dumbass!

@@LJHLUif you agree you are an idiot! Chase Elliot got suspended for right rear hooking! Denny got a win taken away for a piece of tape! And you think Austin should get to keep his win when he cleaned out Joey from way back and then hooked Denny! Dale Sr never did anything like that! Denny or Joey have never done anything like that! Yea they raced what some think is dirty but if you think Joey and Denny are dirty then you think Austin is the dirtiest! Denny had over 20 wins before any of that shit ever happened! Austin has done it to get a few of his wins! Austin's move was the dirtiest move in nascar in a long time! So if you are ok with that move than don't ever call Joey or Denny dirty!

HI Kyle. If you watch the race online using nascar drive, all the commericals are side by side for the race. The thing is they are the same over and over again and the timing of the commericals are not planned out smartly! . Buffering and oh my don't even refresh the page! It's not my internet provider that causes the buffering it's the broadcast issue nascar has and never fixes.

Create a limited NASCAR Mid-Week “short track” schedule. Say, twice a month a Mid-Week race visits a short track. These races could be shorter in total laps, say run in two heats (stages). No qualifying, starting position for the Mid-Week short tracks is based on current NASCAR point standings. Hold a brief practice at 5:pm, start the race at 7:pm, giving the crews a brief period of time to make adjustments if needed, and schedule to be finished by 11:pm. Then everyone goes home to get ready for the weekend event at a larger track. Just some ideas. -NOTE- ALL NASCAR CUP SERIES TELEVISION COVERAGE SHOULD BE FLAG TO FLAG. Do the commercials before the race, before a stage, in between stages, and after the race.

I like the direction of Chase's thoughts. I would love to have 2 races in a week - not every week, but many of them. Many of the tracks are fairly close together in the East and SE. Take advantage of that. Now, of course, the Networks will have a lot to say on this. Chase is right about the NFL, avoid as much head-to-head as possible.
It's something that deserves to be looked into more closely.

Chase’s idea could work by starting the season the second week in January. Could race at Daytona, Homestead, COTA, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Fontana, by then it would be the end of February. Maybe some races in the south would be warm enough to race at by then. Then maybe shorten the schedule by 2 races. So they could finish the season at the beginning/middle of October. The off season would be til January. I know, I’m dreaming.

NASCAR used to run multiple races in a season, how do you think Richard petty got to 200 wins? Kesolwski comment after the race is bs, he knows he brake check Kyle. Smt data will show that. Noway he started the car back up that fast. Crew show tonight.

As a Keselowski fan, it's always disappointing when he fails to win in his home state of Michigan (doesn't seem like it's ever going to happen (same with the Daytona 500) ). As far as Kyle Busch is concerned, I can understand his frustration with the 6 car on that overtime restart. Brad says he had issues with the engine shutting off, which is odd, and I wonder how many times it happened during the course of the race. That 2 week Olympic break seems to have helped Kyle Busch get back to his old, feisty self both on and off the track, and was probably a welcome respite for all of the drivers and teams. Perhaps that's something that Nascar should do every year, although it certainly wouldn't allow the season to wrap up sooner in the fall like Chase Elliot would like to see happen. I like the idea of mid-week races as well, and am reminded of how interesting it was during the Covid-19 pandemic when they had to add mid-week races, and had a double-header weekend at Pocono to make up for lost dates due to the shutdown.
