Hi there! Glad we could've helped a bit 😙 that's interesting that you were able to do this with a stainless steel...we often recommend tin foil as it aids in the electrolytic reaction to transfer the oxidized tarnish to the aluminum foil!
@@myjewelryrepair Is that so? Will try it with foil next time - I just don't like to use too much of it due to the environment pollution of waste. THANKs!!
Thanks a lot..It worked for me.. my gold chain tarnished few months before, I thought may be it's duplicate..I followed few tips from youtube but there is no result...from your video I got my jewellery colour back😂
Oh my gosh… this took me all of five minutes to do. I had zero faith that it was going to work, or even do anything to clean my gold necklace, but it worked like a charm! 🙌🏼
No... The tin foil is needed for the chemical reaction that this method is describing. It very effortlessly removes the oxidation and grime on real gold and silver jewelry. I was amazed at the difference the aluminum foil made without me having to do anything to physically "clean" my pieces.
Wonderfull! My jewelry looks sooo good!! Have to admit I left them in longer and added Hydrogen Peroxide Anything silver came out sooo shiny- the darker colors so clean!!
Gonna clean my 925 silver cuban chain this way. I these ingredients (plus vinegar) to soak rusty bicycle parts. But, not sure if the acid from vinegar will ruin the chain. Windex shines it up, but doesn't remove all tarnish completely. Thanks for the advice!
I just use baking soda and boiling water for my silver And it works really well. They look how they did when I bought them, aside from the scratches. 😅😂 It's only getting the surface grime off the silver so it should be fine as long as you don't leave it sitting for too long.
@@stacyiguodala9857 I wasn't disagreeing with you. But polish is an abrasive. It leaves smaller abrasions than rougher abrasives. "Micro abrasions" if you will.

Unfortunately, we would not recommend using this technique for gold plated jewelry. Baking soda and other abrasive natural cleaners can be too harsh for cleaning jewelry and might scratch or damage the metal! :(
If you don't have baking soda, you may use this alternative method: Fill a bowl with 3 cups of warm water and some dish soap. Let it soak for a few minutes and then scrub with a toothbrush. We made another video called "3 Different Ways To Clean Your Jewelry." We recommend checking it out 👍
Unfortunately, we would not recommend using this technique for gemstones as baking soda can be slightly abrasive. We would recommend you send it in to a professional like us for a proper clean and polish for more precious pieces like this one!
@@myjewelryrepair too late.. the stones & gold are *gleaming*. Thanks. I had some sort of purple-ish looking oxidation collecting in the corners of each side of my ring; however u alls concoction tonic worked perfectly. 🖖🏽
Don’t forget to rinse your jewellery after you clean it. It’s an acidic mixture. That is copper she is cleaning in this video, not gold, but should work on all metals.
Unfortunately, baking soda can be abrasive for softer gemstones like pearls. You can substitute the baking soda with dish soap and that should do the trick! 💍
I want to ask everyone, whether my Gucci Ghost necklace, when applying this method, will keep the black engravings on the pendant? thanks everyone❤❤❤❤❤
Yes! You can use this method for pure 24k gold, or even 18k, 14k, or 10k gold, and other metals including silver, sterling silver, etc. All metals will not tarnish equally as the more pure the metal, the more resistant it will be to tarnish. However, we advice to use this cleaning method with caution as it can be too abrasive and we do recommend getting a professional clean & polish whenever possible :)
Hi there! Sorry to hear this happened. The probable reason why your gold jewelry turned rose gold is most likely due to a chemical reaction from the oxidization. There is a chance that your gold jewelry may not be pure gold, and therefore can affect the color of the metals (i.e., copper)!
But that doesn't look gold again, it looks reddish, kinda like copper. I have a gold filled chain that looks slightly darker after a month of heavy use, still looks sparkly and nice, but I can see it darkening already and I want to get it back before it gets even darker. I'm still going to try this method and I hope I can get the original color back and not have it look reddish.
Hi there! We're not sure what your gold monopoly pieces are actually made of. It really depends on the type of metal, for example, if they're made of real gold, then this should work! It's just like the concept of people polishing their silver 😄
@@debracrager3639 Hi, Debra! It does work with silver! All silver tarnishes, but the more pure silver present, the more resistant it will be to tarnish. Fortunately, you can use this cleaning method to keep it looking new, however, we do recommend a professional clean and polish whenever possible :)
Uhh 🙄. Yes, 10k gold can tarnish over time due to the other metals in its composition Yes, 14-karat gold can tarnish, but very little, if any, is expected 18k gold is not pure gold and is susceptible to tarnishing, but it doesn't tarnish easily Pure gold, like 24 karat gold, cannot tarnish Pure (100%) gold, titanium and silver do not tarnish. Metals that can tarnish include copper, brass, bronze, and alloys - that includes any fine jewellery that are less than 24k or 100% pure silver like 9k, 14k, 18k gold or sterling silver. There is common misconception that just because a piece of jewelry is solid gold, that it will not tarnish. Solid gold less than 24k can certainly tarnish, due to the alloy metal that is compounded with the gold component being one that is not corrosion resistant. However, on the other hand 24k gold and pure silver is too soft to wear on a daily basis. 14k gold is the most commonly used gold for jewelry settings. It's composed of 58.3% gold and 41.7% alloy.

The abrasives in the mix create micro abrasions in the metal that cause tarnish to come back faster. Polish is a much better option.
