Be reliable, level headed and just let your work results speak for themselves which includes going the extra mile. However, there are other factors in certain work situations. One is the "likeability factor" pertaining to the person that you report to. And of course it depends on the company. Some companies have a union. Some companies have a management policy
that values great results with less politics involved. Sometimes an employer is encouraged to hire certain people because they are granted a valuable work opportunity tax credit. And, some states are "right to work" states. Other factors too of course.
The work environment isn't the same as it was in the 70's & 80's. And part of the work environment involves supply & demand.

Every job I've ever been at I've made it my mission to learn everything I could possibly. Not because I wanted to work hard be a good employee, but rather I wanted to become indispensable. And through my indispensabilty I could gain leverage. When you have leverage you can push boundaries that other less trained employees can't push. And your coworkers will hate you for it. But most of them will purposely not learn things so they won't have to do it so really it's their fault so fuck em'.

I’ve seen this in Corporate America. People who thought they had it “in” with a superior or that they were a fixture, because their hair turned white and they’d survived being at the company for many years. Suddenly, they were just laid off, like anyone else. One, recently, asked to be retired, instead of laid off. They told him no.
No one is indispensable. It doesn’t matter what your contributions have been. You have to also realize that, on some level, everyone’s bored to be there and unexcited about everything, including you. Your absence is last week’s news.

Interesting observations as usual with Robert, he spots the things that others miss.
The way I understood it was that this man( that he talks about) was also a victim of his success, in that he did the job so well that it was considered finished?
So actually it would have been more advantageous for him to have still been needed , and that by doing something too well, he just lost himself a job and ultimately his life?
So this is obviously something the modern politician has taken to heart, have you noticed how they make promises but don't keep them (leave you hanging on) or leave something half done, or generally speaking are pretty incompetent, and we the public maybe scratch our heads, and think how do they get away with that, maybe because for us (plebs because that's how they see us) we are judged by our performance or competence and we can get fired for not doing a good job, so we are also irreplaceable....but performance matters for us, if we don't do well we pay for it!
Basically there is a hypocrisy of standards at play here.... politicians or others shouldn't do a job too well, because it isn't good for them to serve the public too well, because really they would also be out of a job and also because the job is designed to give them the chance to do well for themselves and the elite (whose interests they work for?) and not the general public?
While on the other side of the equation, ordinary people have to do well both for the company interest (elite) and serve the public service industry (public institutions etc), because they are not here to serve (prosper) for themselves but to work for the interests of the company and always have to serve (and put the interests of others before their own)? That keeps them in a state of neediness by only paying the bare minimum and encouraging job insecurity so that they will feel compelled to serve their masters and not themselves?
So we are all irreplaceable but some have the chance to line their own pockets and do well for themselves while working and others don't that's the difference? Useful idiots as opposed to useless eaters..harsh yes (and not how I would view people) but it's the mindset of some in power who do reduce people to basic functionality?
Sorry guys if I'm not making sense 🙂 or explaining myself very well, I just took flu medicine and I'm not quite with it!
Anyway I just wanted to try to explain something to myself, thinking out loud...🤔

I have seen this dynamic at work in government positions. It's not that you're irreplaceable. It's that it takes so much effort and bureaucracy to hire someone else in the position. Management would like to avoid that pain so they sometimes hold on to people just to avoid the hassle that it takes to fill the position.

Sometimes people don’t care who they keep that causes them trouble because you like them. People get rid of assets all the time because of stupidity.

Good movie title. Joe, get some writers and play the main character who does hits in a john Wick style rennessance era bad ass. But get a good writer and director, b list co stars and realistic to weapons and tactics. I will buy that DVD for $50.00 easy. Your followers, good production value, not hard acting cuz they want your personality and character... come on man. We need this

Thank you for sharing this message…
God Bless you with much love and gratitude in Christ Jesus (wholeheartedly without compromise)…. Jesus is my Sole (Soul) Purpose & Sole (Soul) Focus.
My life instinct for this wicked world is extinct. It is to be with Jesus Christ, in entirety, that is my deepest desire as i walk after the Spirit of God (Romans 8 & 12) with the Joy of our (my) LORD Jesus Christ being my ONLY strength (2 Timothy 2:1-7) no matter the worldly consequences (Romans 14:8, Revelation 12:11, Revelation 14:12, Revelation 17:14). i am NOT looking for worldly applause &/or worldly trinkets (Romans 5:10-21, Psalm 34, Philippians 1:20-23, Philippians 3:8-14).
    Jesus is my Reality!
